2023.04.01 13:50 anonymous8122 I (28F) want to reconcile with my husband (31M) but not sure how, or if I really can.
I'm also not sure if he'll do his part.
TLDR at bottom.
(Married 6.5yrs, together 7.5) We've been having a ton of issues lately, and I'm pretty sure he just thinks I'm being a bitch.
Things all kind of piled up for me when we had a tragic death on my side of the family. We were not that close to the deceased, but we are close to people who were very close to them. I asked my husband to request a day off 6 weeks out for the celebration of life and he refused to at first, saying there aren't a lot of extra people to cover for him and that he doesn't think it would get approved anyway. I got upset because this event is in lieu of a funeral, and there are SO many other, less important things people get out of work for, with or without coverage, it's ridiculous of him to say that he wouldn't get approved (I used to work there with him). He did end up asking for the day off later that night.
A day or two later, I told him there will be a vigil on X date at X time (not when he is working anyway) and that I would really like him to go with me. He was immediately irritated, and the first words he said were, "How long is it going to run because I have to work the next morning". That's something that I don't even know what I'd say if someone asked where he was. We are a couple at every family party, but then he feels too weird going to be supportive of part of the family when it's not something fun. He did go with me, but he wouldn't go up and grab his own candle, and during the lantern lighting he was complaining to me about how late it was.
I just feel like he was disrespectful around the whole death of this person. The family is devastated, and he can't even hide how inconvenienced he feels about the few events arranged. We tried talking about it, and it turns out he feels like viewings and events like this are awkward and weird. But I have a hard time understanding this perspective, because I agree, but it doesn't stop me from wanting to support the people who were close to the person who died.
So all this is making me a lot more irritated about the small things my husband does/doesn't do. He piles recyclables in the corner or the kitchen until I get to move them, he always goes to my parents' house after work if I'm not home, because he doesn't like our house, yet he doesn't do anything about our living situation except say how much he doesn't like it. I told my friend about this, and she agreed it was pretty weird.
It was an argument to get him to stop wearing dirty work clothes in bed, and on that note, he always lounges in bed because he says he hates that the dogs squished down one side of the couch. He is always annoyed by the dogs and has said he can't wait to not have dogs anymore since he can live his life (he was 100% for getting the dogs). Other times, I can tell he loves them, but I can't keep doing this yo-yo.
Today he let the dogs out before work and when one wasn't coming in when called, I knew he forgot to out her recall collar on (she does not listen without it). I told him just a few days ago that she NEEDS to wear that AND be watched outside, because recently when I turned away for a second she was in the road and cars had to stop to avoid her. OR we have to build a fence, and he opted for the former option. I reminded him about her collar today, and he told me he said, "I don't need that from you this morning."
I'm so annoyed right now. We've had our ups and downs, but this is the worst I've ever felt about him and our relationship. I want to see if we can patch things up, but I don't know where to start. Too often I feel like I'm married to a child who is (other than financially) riding my coattails. He gets groceries, but I bring the rent check over each month, pay the electric bill, notice when the furnace stops working. One time he waited all day for me to get home from work when he knew the sump pump broke and the basement has 3 feet of water in it, when he could've called the fire departmentand/or gotten a new sump pump. When something goes wrong, he either calls my dad to fix it or waits for me. I don't think he sees anything wrong with how we're living or acting. I don't want to give up on us just yet. I'm heartbroken even considering it, but something has to change. How do I even approach him about it without him getting defensive immediately?
TLDR: husband rude about being asked to help support grieving family members, and my opinion of him has changed drastically, and I can't look past the smaller things either. I want to fix things between us, but I don't know where to start or if he'll even be willing to try.

2023.04.01 13:35 RyanzRetroReviewz The Vikings - 1958 Film Review - RyanzRetroReviewz
The Vikings - 1958
The Vikings is a 1958 epic semi historical/romance movie directed by Richard Fleischer (the son of the great american animatoinnovator and early cartoon producer Max Fleischer, responsible for the creations of Popeye the Sailor man, Betty Boop and many more), who after having spent years in the B movie industry, was now riding high on the success of his Walt Disney produced 1954 adaption of the classic Jules Verne novel "20,000 leagues under the sea" (also starring Kirk Douglas) when he decided to take on the helms of this larger scale and more adult oriendted epic full of love, lust and bloodshed all set in the Viking Age of England and Scandinavia.
With the starring role of this picture going to the mammoth of acting that was Kirk Douglas (although before the more well known "Spartacus" from 1961, this is after he had played the part of Perseus in the 1956 "Ulysseus" movie, so he was already on top), fresh off his hot streak with his new sidekick of a director from "20,000" (Douglas personally hired Fleishcer for this, being that it was his own production company behind the financing). He is non-casually joined by the all time (and/or old time) Hollywood couple Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh (progenitors of the now Scream Queen of old, not to mention still world class beauty, Jamie-Lee Curtis) making this their fifth out of eleven movies together, as well as a big old bowl of Ernest Borgnine dumped on top, having already solidified himself on the big screen as both a well known character actor and a main star. Now, when a movie can boast about having such a combination of high quality talent as this, you know it's bound to be great (although, there are exceptions).
The prologue title sequence of this movie alone is worth note, giving us the audience the pleasure of hearing the stern but soothing (if that makes any sense) voice of the great Orson Welles as he explains to us the whos, whats, whens, and why's of the viking expansions and invasions into the British Isles, as well as the political landscape of England itself at this time in history. This is done as we're shown a bunch of spectacuclar tapestry/parchment paper drawings of Vikings battling against Englishmen, complete with a more than perfectly passionate orchestral theme that invokes the thought of the King Arthur tales of yore, all coming together to add a real sense of authenticity to this epic that we've yet to even see begin...which it does with a bang.
Or the swipe of a sword to be more exact, as the viking leader Ragnar (Borgnine) and his band of warriors fall down upon the camp of the English King Edwin of Northumbria. The two leaders enter into a private duel in the King's tent, with Ragnar slaying his foe and further forcing himself down upon the deadman's wife, Queen Enid, ultimately and unknowingly impregnanting her before disappearing back into the Northlands. Knowing that the child is that of Ragnar's, but will still be seen as a threat to the new King Aella (Frank Thring), Enid gives birth to the child whom she names Eric, in secret and finally sends him away to Italy with her most confident of priests, placing the hilt stone of the King's rightful sword on a rope around his next to later one day be indentified as true heir to the throne of Northumbria.
Years later at the court of King Aella, we come to meet princess Morgana of Wales (Janet Leigh), as her Father pledges her to Aella as a token of alliance between their two kingdoms. King Echbert of Wessex (James Donald) is then brought up on charges of aiding the Vikings in their raids on England's kingdom's in order to protect his own lands, and is thrown into the dungeons to die. We learn that the charges are true when Echbert escapes from Northumbria and finds refuge with the Viking leader Ragnar aboard his longship. The vikings travel back to Scandinavia with Echbert and his promises to continue providing them with coastline and river maps for further raid and plunder.
The incredbily wide shot scenes of the long ships coming into port in the fords of Norway are truly spectacular (clearly being filmed on location), elevated by the realistic built sets that make up the Viking and village (not to mention the ships themselves), as well as the dozens of costumes and hairstyles worn by the extras that are showcased throughout (and a really awesome Viking horn blower welcoming the warriors back home each time, echoing the fantastic sounding orchestral theme of the movie yet again). Also, we now get some of that real over the top barbarian type behaviour being portrayed by Ainar (Douglas), son of Rangar, as we, the mostly uneducated in history average film-goer, would expect out of any and all vikings on screen (it is pretty awesome though); complete with beer guzzling, barell smashing, deranged angry tones, and wishes for barrels of blood to guzzle down instead of that of beer.
Ainar hates all Englishmen, but agrees to his Father and Chieftain's demands to keep after Echbert and see that he wants for nothing. One day while breaking in their hunting hawks, Ainar starts up a confrontation with a slave named Eric (Tony Curtis), the unknowing son of Ragnar, subsequent half brother of Ainar, and true King of Northumbria, who had been abducted from his ship en route to Italy all those years ago. Eric then sicks his own hawk that he's recently found onto his oppressor, leaving Ainar with only one good eye, and himself now with a guaranteed death sentence.
At the feasting hall however, a volva woman steps in against Ragnar's judgement of death, claiming that the gods do not wish for Eric to die by any man's hand, to which Ragnar outsmarts and has Eric taken instead to a rock pool off the coast at high tide to await an eventual death from drowning. Echbert though finds the stone from around Eric's neck and, realizing who he is, goes down to the rock pool to save him and claim him as his own slave in order to keep him safe from Ainar. We also get some more awesome over the top barbarian type behavior, now complete with ass smacking, random kissing orgys, more beer guzzling and axes being thrown at a viking's wife's hair braids to judge wether she's been faithful or not (this movie's about as toxic male chauvinist as it gets, but still... really awesome).
Echbert eventually finishes his maps for the Vikings, as well giving them the idea to abduct and ransom Princess Morgana before her marriage to Aella, with Ainar carrying out the task and giving us a pretty decent battle at sea in the process. Ainar though, now falls madly in love with Morgana and wishes to claim her as his own. When back at the hall once again, we get even more over the top barbarian behavior, beer guzzling, rape jokes, etc, etc, (what do you want from them?, they're Vikings), all this before Ragnar finally concedes to his son's wants and needs, allowing him to claim Morgana as his own. But when Ainar tries to force himself upon her, Eric appears from behind and knocks him out, bringing Morgana to escape with him on a boat to England.
A really-rad boat chase scene ensues through the fog filled fjords, culminating in the collision of both Ragnar and Ainar's boats into one another, sending half of the Vikings to their deaths. All but Ragnar that is, who's saved and pulled onto Eric's boat, heading straight for the King of Northumbria. Ainar swears revenge against Eric, while the two escapees fall madly in love en-route to England.
At the court of King Aella, Eric hands over Ragnar then asks that Morgana be relieved of her pledge of marriage, to which she agrees with. The King demands that she take more time to reflect with her priest, then forces Eric to try to take part in the execution of Ragnar by pushing him into a rabid wolf pit. Eric refuses by cutting Ragnar's bonds and giving him a sword, so that he may die a warrior's death and be aloud to enter Valhalla, giving us an extremely climactic ending of Ernest Borgnine's character in this tale as he raises his arms and voice to summon Odin the All-Father, before jumping to his death in the wolf pit, sword in hand and smile on his face (man Vikings were badass!).
Eric has his hand chopped off as punishment and is set adrift into the sea, but not before the priest -and Morgana find the King's "Pummel-stone" amongst Eric's belongings, coming to the realization that he is the true heir of Northumbria. Morgana then runs in the room just in time to see Eric's amputation, letting out a horrific scream at the sight of it (she wasn't called America's first "Scream Queen" for nothing folks. So this is where Jamie-Lee gets it from eh).
Back in Scandinavia, Ainar is now King of the Vikings, but can't seem to raise an army to retrieve Morgana, until Eric comes back and tells them of Ragnar's death. The two (still unknowing) half brothers now team up to defeat the tyrant King Aella, to both gain revenge for Ragnar and to rescue Morgana, leading the "Great Heathen Army" across the sea to England (in the year of our lord 865 for those of you history buffs).
Between the ships leaving of Scandinavia, and the army's landing and setting up of their assault on Northumbria, you really come to ask yourself as to why film-goers are NEVER treated to such a large scale production as this anymore (well, at least not since The Lord of The Rings as I recall). The amount of extras, costume pieces and props required for this must have been incredible, but all completely necessary in the creation of a full on believable historic setting such as this.
So the Vikings land and lay siege unto Aella's stronghold, battering rams, catapults, axes, spears, swords, the works (not to mention Kirk Douglas scaling the Castle's front door using only axes for leverage. Again, you just don't see stuff like this anymore). Ainar cuts his way through to Morgana's room, but upon realizing that she loves Eric, and that Eric is also a son of Ragnar, he takes her to confront his half brother and fight for their prize.
Eric meets Ainar at the top of the castle and the two enter into an extremely well coordinated battle of the blades, until Ainar breaks Eric's sword that is. But Eric seizes a moment of hesitation that befalls Ainar, and stabs his half brother in the gut with the broken down blade of his sword. Ainar then drops his sword, but Eric picks it up and gives it back to him, again allowing for a true Viking death. He uses the last of his strength in a final roar to summon up Odin, then Ainar is no more. Eric and Morgana embrace each other with love bringing us to the end of this movie, but not before treating the audience to an authentic Viking cremation funeral for Ainar, in which he is cast off to see in a ship and flaming arrows sent flying to the mass. We watch the ship and Ainar's body burn as the credits to "The Vikings" comes up once more, leading us into the ending credits with more authentic looking parchment scroll drawings of the Vikings battling against Englishmen, and finally coming together as one (accompanied again by the awe inspiring orchestral themes of yore every step of the way).
To sum it all up, "The Vikings" (1958) is literally THE - BEST Viking movie that's ever been made. Full of high quality A-list stars (to which I'd say is one of both Kirk's and Tony's coolest characters ever portrayed on screen), and a great group of secondary character actors like James Donald, Frank Thring, Eileen Way and many more. The story is well put together by screenwriters Calder Willingham and Dale Wiserman (based on a novel by Edison Marshall), with the underlying theme being the coming together of two peoples, as well as giving us a pretty cool backstory for a very real and historic time in Northwestern Europe. The wide scale shots and surrounding sceneries caught by DP Jack Cardiff are truly amazing, joined by epic scale (and pretty damn authentic) sets-props-hairstyles and makeups, very well coordinated swordfights and stunts, and lets not forget the awe inspiring orchestral theme of yore laid down by composer Mario Nascimbene and conductor Franco Ferrara. All this is brought together perfectly by director Max Fleischer in what was defenitely the largest scale movie of his career. I would recommend this movie not only to fans of retro cinema, but to anyone who loves epic scale warrior movies, as well as to general ancient world history buffs.
And that's all she wrote folks. Thanks for reading.

2023.04.01 13:25 Japesper How did we make this list?
2023.04.01 12:57 Long_Cherry_1614 QUESTIONS: HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE THERE IN YOUR ORGANIZATION AND IN THE WORLD? HOW MANY DRUIDICISTS ARE THERE IN THE WORLD?
| The double membership is a well-known historical phenomenon to which paganism in general and Druidism in particular lend themselves particularly well. It is only a problem when one of the religions involved is an intolerant monolatry. There is a problem only when one of the religions involved is an intolerant (pleonasme my spellchecker says ) monolatry. Since polytheism is by definition tolerant, not exclusive, and also by definition admitting the validity of all kinds of other warships, contrary to the monolatries characteristic of current mass religions, no other worship , no other god (agnostos theos/sive deus sive dea) could completely dislike true druidicist. The real druidicist always strives on the contrary to the most complete irenicism towards other cults. This attitude of intellectual openness, comparable to open secularism in political matters, often leads to a kind of double membership with regard to the basic druidicist. This is what John Toland very precisely advocated for his pantheists (in his pantheisticon) besides, but for other reasons it is true (the fear of persecution). The current number of druidicists is therefore difficult to determine because of the well-known historical phenomenon of double membership, which lends itself particularly well to paganism in general and particularly druidism. There is a problem only when one of the religions in question is an exclusive monolatry. As I see that you do not understand or that you are pretending, I will give you some examples. -Free double membership. Some 1st century of our era Jews were also Christian. History books call them Judeo-Christians. -Forced double membership (under penalty of exile). Some 16th century Spanish Jews, the Marranos, were both Jewish (secretly at home) and Catholic (on Sunday at mass). -“Forced” double membership. Islam allows its followers to display all outward signs of dominant religious conformity if they have reason to fear for their lives. This is the principle known as taqiyya (suras 3.28,16.106). Historically especially practiced by the Shiites living under Sunni domination but Sunnis can also have recourse to it as in the case of the Moriscos still in Spain. Arthur de Gobineau, in 1865, in his work Religions and philosophies, seems to be one of the first Western authors to describe the principle of this religious concealment. -Half-free double membership. Many 11th-century Icelanders were officially Christians in their foreign relations or in their dealings with foreign countries, but remained pagan privately or in their homes (decision of the godi Thorgeir Thorkelsson). -Completely free double membership. The cohabitation of Buddhism and Shintoism in Japan since the 8th century is an excellent example of this double observance still observable today, and it even has a name:shinbutsu shugo. According to the circumstances, the average Japanese is either Buddhist or Shintoist. In fact, most Japanese celebrate weddings and births following Shintoist rites and funerals following Buddhist rites. In Japan many Buddhist temples have a space dedicated to kami within their walls, when the kami are not themselves considered as emanations of the different Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. -Double membership totally free. Some current druidicists but there is no name in old Celtic to designate this kind of religious practice. Of course! https://druiden36lessons.com http://3.17.51.87/ https://www.druiden36lessons.com https://preview.redd.it/flyk1kvq79ra1.png?width=611&format=png&auto=webp&s=63d04574f40a7de52259225fc69338f1e5e80444 submitted by Long_Cherry_1614 to Druiden36lessons [link] [comments] |

How to Get the Most out of Your Post: Include a photo of the problem. You can upload to imgur.com for free and it's easy to do. One photo should contain enough information for people to understand the immediate area around the problem (dense shade, extremely sloped, etc.). Other photos should include close-ups of the grass or weed in question: such as this, this, or this. The more photos or context to the situation will help us identify the problem and propose some solutions.

2023.04.01 11:33 ForsakenBarnacle9440 A year ago
March 27th my friend killed himself. He was gorgeous. I just went through his photos and it kills me. I feel lost without him.
He wanted to die since middle school, where we met. Always been depressed. He attempted so many times I was barely shaken when finding out he was in the hospital again. I would walk for an hour dragging his suitcase to bring it to the hospital.
He was a Melanie Martinez fan. At parties we would go feral to lady gaga and ashnikko, we would dance like mad people and it was so much fun. I haven't been to a party since he died, I can't. His smile, his fucking smile it hurts so much.
The family who abused him and kicked him out is blaming me and his friends for his death. I never got to see the funeral. All we have is blood on the train racks.
He was 18. March 27th I went back to those train racks, put flowers, listened to music, hugged our friends. It got easier, I'm so familiar with all those thoughts and feelings, I've been thinking about him everyday for a year. I've put my pain on hold to help others grieve. This post is just about him and I, that's what I want to remember. Not our fight, not that I wasn't present enough in his last days. I'll always hate myself for not sending a last text to ask when he was coming back home. I could have had a last text.
There will always be something godly about him now, something otherworldly. I miss him. I miss his existence. He was truly magical. He was so tiny, always had colorful hair and new makeup and crazy clothes. No one can compare. I miss him so much.

| https://preview.redd.it/ws4i05jot5ra1.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f53ff9cedc59b16e616618bea3a27243140ebd62 We open on a Hollywood-themed casino. Narrator: Welcome to the biggest event in all of CPWA. The doors swing open and we see slot machines with the names and faces of various CPWA talents, including "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones, The Jordans (Shelton, Elijah, Deron "Ron", and Cedric), Keith Yang, and Kaine Harris. Narrator: Where everything is more than on the line. We then see a poker table where King Shaka, Ivan Markov, Jordan Angle, Logan Lemming, and "The King of Mexican Strong Style" Antonio Garcia are sitting and playing cards. Narrator: Where having an ace up your sleeve can change the difference between victory and defeat. We then see the Hart Sisters (Crystal and Tracy), The Olympians (Clarissa Yang and Regina Lewis), Mary Addams, "The Orange Idol Princess" Aiko Yoshida, Cristina Moreira, and Queen Sheba all placing bets. Narrator: Where lady luck can is a fighting dame. We then see every superstar at a roulette table as we see someone blowing dice in their hands as they shake and throw them at the table. Narrator: Roll the dice, always bet on black, and remember that the stakes are more than high! This is High stakes! De La Soul's "Stakes is High" plays in the arena as pyro we see pyro go off for a few seconds, followed by cheering from the crowd. Brian Kinsley: We welcome to CPWA High$takes! We are coming to you live from Los Angeles. Brian Kinsley along with Anthony Harris and Sir Samuel Stewart, we have finally arrived for the big one! Every championship is on the line including the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship as Kaine Harris defends the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship against Shelton Jordan, Keith Yang, and "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones! Let's get right to the action! Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for... Crowd: ONE FALL! Announcer: And it is for the CPWA Cruiserweight Tag Team Championship! Men at Work's "Down Under" plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, the team of Remy LaCroix and Wade Parker, the Quebec Outback Connection. Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out" plays in the arena. Announcer: Next, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, they are Steve and Adam, the Odenkirks. 80s Synth Track Nightscapes plays in the arena. Announcer: Finally, from Los Angeles, they are the CPWA Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions, the team of Mark Starr and Ricky Vice, StarrVice! Match 1: CPWA Cruiserweight Tag Team Championship: The Quebec Outback Connection (Remy LaCroix and Wade Parker) vs. The Odenkirks (Steve and Adam) vs. StarrVice (c) (Mark Starr and Ricky Vice) The opener wasn't bad but it certainly wasn't good either. Aside from the huge pop StarrVice got, they didn't get any offense going. The Odenkirks were decimating their opponents and were looking to secure the victory quickly, but the QOC prevented that from happening. StarrVice rallied themselves back into the match, which saw Ricky Vice pull off a diving plancha onto Remy LaCroix and the Odenkirks. This allowed Mark Starr to hit the Starlight Driver on Wade Parker for StarrVice to retain the CPWA Cruiserweight Tag Team Championships. 2 out of 5 stars. After the match, StarrVice celebrated with the crowd. We cut backstage as we see Kevin Meyers interviewing "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones and Brother Julius. LeJuan says that he will regain the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship and prove to everyone that he is "The Chosen One" and remain on top of the CPWA. We cut back to the arena. Announcer: The following contest is a fatal-four Cruiserweight showcase! Almighty 3's "To The Other MC's" plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, from Opa-Locka, Florida, he is Money Mark! Punjabi MC's "Sounds of the Des" plays in the arena Announcer: Next, from Mumbai, India, Sharnaz Khan. Tego Calderon's "Mil Cosas" plays in the arena Announcer: Next, from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Angel Vega Less Than Jake's "P.S. Shock The World" plays in the background. Announcer: And the final participant, from New Orleans, Louisiana, Jason Reynolds. Match 2: Fatal Four-Way Cruiserweight Showcase: Money Mark vs. Sharnaz Khan vs. Angel Vega vs. Jason Reynolds There's a good reason why the cruiserweights always put on a great show and this was no exception. Angel Vega started the match hot, followed by some high-flying attacks on Money Mark and Sharnaz Khan. There was a scary moment in the match where Jason Reynolds almost knocked himself out when he missed a shooting star press on Khan. Despite the scare, Reynolds managed to fight his way back into the match. Angel Vega would win the match Angel's Wings (Wing Clipper) on Sharnaz Khan to get the win. FIVE STARS!!!!! We cut to a music video hyping up the Hart Sisters, Crystal and Tracy. We cut back to the arena. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the CPWA Women's Tag Team Championship. Leo Arnaud's "Bulger's Dream" plays in the arena Announcer: Introducing first, representing The Olympians, they are the team of Clarissa Yang and Regina Lewis "Hitman" plays in the arena Announcer: And their opponents, from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, they are the CPWA Women's Tag Team Champions, Crystal and Tracy, the Hart Sisters. Match 3: CPWA Women's Tag Team Championship: The Olympians (Clarissa Yang and Regina Lewis) vs. The Hart Sisters (Crystal and Tracy) It was a technical showcase between two teams with lots of grappling, takedowns, and submissions. The Olympians had control of the match, isolating Tracy from Crystal. Every time Crystal got the tag, the referee never saw it, forcing Crystal back to her corner. Eventually, Crystal would get the hot tag, as she was a house of fire, taking down both Clarissa Yang and Regina Lewis. Crystal placed the sharpshooter on Lewis to make her tap out as the Hart Sisters regained the CPWA Women's Tag Team Championship. 2 out of 5 stars. We are then shown a hype package that covers the rivalry between "The King of Mexican Strong Style" Antonio Garcia and Logan Lemming. We cut back to the arena. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a 25-minute time limit. Vincente Fernandez's "Los Mandados" plays in the arena as a Mariachi band plays and leads "The King of Mexican Strong Style. Announcer: Introducing first, from Mexico City, Mexico, he is "The King of Mexican Strong Style," Antonio Garcia. Motley Crue's "Shout At The Devil" plays in the arena as a rock band plays the tune. Announcer: Introducing first, the challenger, accompanied to the ring by Monroe Storm, from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, he is Logan Lemming. Match 4: "The King of Mexican Strong Style" Antonio Garcia vs. Logan Lemming Aside from the huge pop that "The King of Mexican Strong Style" received, this match felt completely flat. As much as there were hard-hitting attacks from both men, only a half of the crowd was into this match. Thankfully, the match ended with Antonio Garcia placing Logan in a Surfboard Press to win. 1 out of 5 stars. We cut to backstage and we see Kimberly Reynolds interviewing Shelton Jordan. Shelton believes that this will be the night that not only will he win the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship, but Deron "Ron" Jordan will become the next CPWA International Champion. We cut back to the arena. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the CPWA Hardcore Championship. Yoshida Brothers' "Storm" plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, from Kagoshima, Japan, he is the CPWA Hardcore Champion Kenshiro Ishii. Kenshiro Ishii stands in the ring awaiting his opponent. Suddenly, the lights go out and we hear an ominous female voice. Female voice: Pretty Boy...oh, my sweet sweet Pretty Boy...the time has come. Punish...them...all! Glitter Wasteland's "Cold War (Nightcrawler Remix)" plays in the arena as the lights come back on with a bluish and red color as Pretty Boy makes his debut. https://preview.redd.it/g24bblrdl6ra1.png?width=1364&format=png&auto=webp&s=e5f9ebeec084738f52f1e37960963a64061de3d1 Brian Kinsley: My god! He's here! It's...Pretty Boy! Anthony Harris: Look at the bloodstains on the brother's suit! Who or what did he kill before he got here? Sir Samuel Stewart: Whoever was going to face Kenshiro Ishii for the Hardcore Championship. I'm going to have nightmares of this guy. Match 5: CPWA Hardcore Championship: Kenshiro Ishii (c) vs. Pretty Boy The highly-anticipated debut of Pretty Boy lived up to the hype, but as for the match itself, Kenshiro threw everything at him, but Pretty Boy wasn't budging. Even throwing weapons in the ring couldn't slow down Pretty Boy. A simple chokeslam and tombstone pile driver was all it took to put away Kenshiro Ishii as Pretty Boy would win the CPWA Hardcore Championship. 3 out of 5 stars. We cut to a hype package covering the rivalry between "The Orange Idol Princess" Aiko Yoshida and "The Iron Maiden" Mary Addams We cut back to the arena. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the CPWA Women's International Championship. Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's "PONPONPON" plays in the arena as the crowd claps along to the beat and chants her name. Announcer: Introducing first, from Yokohama, Japan, she is "The Orange Idol Princess" Aiko Yoshida. Iron Maiden's "The Prisoner" plays in the arena as "The Iron Maiden" Mary Addams emerged from an actual Iron Maiden, which emerges from the stage, as part of her entrance. Announcer: Introducing first, from Boston, Massachusetts, she is the CPWA Women's International Champion "The Iron Maiden" Mary Addams. Match 6: CPWA Women's International Championship: "The Orange Idol Princess" Aiko Yoshida vs. "The Iron Maiden" Mary Addams (c) To sum up this match in one word wouldn't be enough. Brutal, hard-hitting, smash-mouth, whatever you want to call it, it was not pretty as Mary Addams had her way with Aiko Yoshida. Addams made the mistake of toying with Yoshida, which prompted a spirited comeback. It looked like Yoshida was going to win the match, but it wasn't meant to be as Mary Addams placed Yoshida in the Iron Maiden to retain the CPWA Women's International Championship. 3 out of 5 stars. After the match, Shiori Yoshimura entered the ring to confront Mary Addams, perhaps signaling herself as the next challenger for the CPWA Women's International Championship. We cut to a hype package for King Shaka. We cut back to the arena. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a 25-minute time limit. Aloe Blacc's "A King is Born" plays in the arena as King Shaka is carried on a throne as part of his entrance. Announcer: Introducing first, from Johannesburg, South Africa, he is King Shaka Red Army Choir's "The Artilleryman's Song" plays in the arena. Ivan Markov is accompanied to the ring by "Russian Soldiers". Announcer: And his opponent, from St. Petersburg, Russia, Ivan Markov. Match 7: King Shaka vs. Ivan Markov This was quite the star-making match as Ivan Markov continues to find momentum within his time in CPWA. It was a back-and-forth match that saw both men giving it their all. In the end, it would be a Markov Recliner (The Accolade/Steiner Recliner) that would put away King Shaka in a shocking victory. 4 out of 5 stars. ***Intermission*** We cut back from intermission and we return back to the ring. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is a triple-threat match for the CPWA Television Championship. Aka-Manto Chase Theme plays in the arena as red lights engulf the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, from the bowels of Jigoku, he is Aka-Manto. An organ cover to Runaway Casket plays in the arena as we see a hearse drive down the ramp. Two pallbearers open the backdoor and take out a casket and place it on a cot. The pallbearers open the casket, revealing The Mortician, who enters the ring. Announcer: Introducing next, from the Resting Peace funeral home, he is the CPWA Television Champion, The Mortician. Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" (Elliot Loud version) plays in the arena as Mangod makes his way through the crowd, headbutting people at random. Announcer: And finally, from God knows where, he is the CPWA Television Champion, Mangod! Match 8: CPWA Television Championship: Aka-Manto vs. The Mortician vs. Mangod (c) A wild and crazy triple-threat match had to be one of the better highlights of the night. All three competitors at one point or another held the CPWA Television Championship, so they knew what was at stake. Although Aka-Manto and The Mortician started off the match double-teaming Mangod, the wild man himself went on the offensive and never looked back. There was even a spot where Mangod did a Glorious Headbutt from Hell diving spot on both Aka-Manto and The Mortician, who were concealed in the casket. The match ended with another Glorious Headbutt From Hell on Aka-Manto for the win. 4 out of 5 stars. After the match, Mangod swung the CPWA Television Championship over his head a la Seth Freakin' Rollins before going into the crowd to celebrate. We cut to backstage and we see Kevin Meyers interviewing Keith Yang. Keith Yang talks about how it will be destiny for him to become CPWA World Heavyweight Champion and that he will make history tonight. We cut back to the arena. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a 25-minute time limit. Hayabusa's "Fight With Dream" plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, from Yokohama, Japan, he is Shadow Nagasaki. Ultimo Dragon's 2nd theme plays in the arena. Announcer: His tag team partners, introducing first, from Shanghai, China, making his CPWA debut, El Oro De Fenix JB Rock's Metal cover of the Gladiator theme plays in the arena. Announcer: Finally, from El Colosseo de Mexico, he is El Gladiador! Leo Arnaud's "Bulger's Dream" plays in the arena Announcer: And their opponents, representing The Olympians, the team of Ryan Phelps, Miles Orozco, and Jordan Angle Match 9: Six-Man Tag Match: Shadow Nagasaki, El Oro De Fenix, and El Gladiador vs. The Olympians (Ryan Phelps, Miles Orozco, and Jordan Angle) This match had no story or heat to speak of, but the only highlight was seeing Jordan Angle get involved with this big event in some way. Sadly, this doesn't favor The Olympians at all. The highlights of the night saw Shadow Nagasaki, Miles Orozco, and the debuting El Oro De Fenix fly around the ring. The match ended with a Phoenix Splash from El Oro De Fenix. 2 out of 5 stars. We have a hype package for Cristina Moreira. We cut back to the arena. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the CPWA Women's Championship. Estrada de Estrela plays in the arena as samba dancers and a carnival float accompany Cristina Moreira to the ring. Announcer: Introducing first, from Sao Paulo, Brazil, she is the inaugural Star Empress Tournament winner Cristina Moreira. Queen Latifah's "Wrath of my Madness" plays in the arena as Queen Sheba is accompanied to the ring by several female guards. Announcer: And her opponent, originally from Johannesburg, South Africa but now residing in Miami, Florida, she is Queen Sheba. Match 10: CPWA Women's Championship: Cristina Moreira vs. Queen Sheba (c) As much as this match was highly anticipated, it really didn't live up to the hype. Both women shook hands, but after that, it was a matter of who could dominate who in the ring. Queen Sheba had the match won, but a Spinning Float Over DDT from Moreira secured her the victory and the CPWA Women's Championship. 1 out of 5 stars. After the match, Cristina Moreira shook hands with Queen Sheba. Announcer: The following contest is a six-man ladder match for the CPWA Cruiserweight Championship! M.O.P.'s "Fly N***a Hill F***a" plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, from Brooklyn, New York, "The Hi-Fli Kid," Jerome Evans. The March of Death theme plays in the arena. Announcer: Next, from Guadalajara, Mexico, this is El Colibri Blood Brothers' "Replica" plays in the arena Announcer: Next, representing The Commonwealth, from Adelaide, Australia, he is Kelly Lawton Mysterious music plays in the arena. Announcer: Next, from Guadalajara, Mexico, this is Silver Eyes. Rain's "It's Raining" begins to play in the arena Announcer: Next, from Seoul, South Korea, he is "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon! DJ Mercer's "Alright" plays in the arena. Announcer: And finally, from Tokyo, Japan, he is the CPWA Cruiserweight Champion, MAGNUM Koyama. Match 11: Six-Man Ladder Match for the CPWA Cruiserweight Championship: "The Hi-Fli Kid" Jerome Evans vs. El Colibri vs. Kelly Lawton vs. Silver Eyes vs. "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon vs. MAGNUM Koyama Another match that was highly anticipated and didn't let up on the crazy moments. Right away Kelly Lawton seized the opportunity to climb up the ladder and looked to take the belt for himself, only to be stopped by the rest of the competitors. Jerome Evans, El Colibri, and Silver Eyes each dived off the ladder, performing crazy high-flying attacks. MAGNUM Koyama appeared to be poised to retain the Cruiserweight Championship, only for Han-Sang Hoon to knock him off. This led to a very opportunistic Kelly Lawton to climb the ladder and claiming the CPWA Cruiserweight Championship for himself. 4 out of 5 stars. We cut to an undisclosed and dark area somewhere in the arena as we see Kaine Harris talk about retaining the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship and building a legacy of his own. We cut back to the arena. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the CPWA International Championship. Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth's "The Creator" plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, from Miami, Florida, he is Deron "Ron" Jordan. Blue Blood plays in the arena. Announcer: And his opponent, representing The Commonwealth, he is the CPWA International Champion, Lord Phillip Byron IV. Match 12: CPWA International Championship: Deron "Ron" Jordan vs. Lord Phillip Byron IV This match was a back-and-forth affair between two competitors with different styles. The high-flying, striking, and technical Deron "Ron" Jordan took on the technically refined powerhouse in Lord Phillip Byron IV. Lord Phillip Byron IV had the match won with the Octopus Stretch, but Elijah Jordan interfered and distracted the referee. This allowed Ron to counter the hold and hit the Mad Ride (Cross Rhodes), followed by the solar eclipse to get the win and become the new CPWA International Champion. 2 out of 5 stars. We see a hype package between the Odenkirks, the Newton Boys, and the Yoshimuras. We cut back to the arena. Announcer: The following contest is a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs triple-threat match for the CPWA Tag Team Championship. Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out" plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, they are William and Jake, the Odenkirks! Blake Shelton's "Good Ole Boys" plays in the arena. Announcer: Next, from the great state of Tennessee, Roy and Zechariah, the Newton Boys. GACKT's "Redemption" plays in the arena Announcer: Finally, from Osaka, Japan, they are the CPWA Tag Team Champions, Ryota and Daigo, the Yoshimuras. Match 13: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs triple-threat match for the CPWA Tag Team Championship: The Odenkirks (William and Jake) vs. The Newton Boys (Roy and Zechariah) vs. Ryota and Daigo Yoshimura (c) Much like the ladder match with the cruiserweights, the tables, ladders, and chairs match was also thrilling. The Odenkirks and The Newtons continued their feud, but the Yoshimuras weren't going to b ignored for long. From brutal chair shots to broken tables, and even a diving ladder spot from Jake Odenkirk, this match was entertaining. The Yoshimuras retained their belts. 4 out of 5 stars. We receive confirmation that next year's High$takes will take place in Philadelphia. We get a hype package with Shelton Jordan, Keith Yang, "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones, and Kaine Harris. We cut back to the arena. Announcer: The following contest is a fatal four-way scheduled for... Crowd: ONE FALL! Announcer: And it is for the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship! Buckshot, Skyzoo, Promise, and Sean Price's "I'm Better Than You" plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, accompanied to the ring by Brother Julius, from Columbus, Ohio, he is "The Number One Pick," LeJuan Jones. The Roots' "Do You Want More" plays in the arena. Announcer: Next, introducing first, representing The Jordan family, from Miami, Florida, he is Shelton Jordan. Bambu's "Chairman Mao" plays in the arena. Announcer: Next, from Shanghai, China, he is Keith Yang. Yonosuke Kitamura's "Lunatic" plays in the arena. Announcer: Finally, accompanied to the ring by his angel, Jessica, from Oakland, California, he is the CPWA World Heavyweight Champion Kaine Harris. Main Event: CPWA World Heavyweight Championship: "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones vs. Shelton Jordan vs. Keith Yang vs. Kaine Harris (c) The main event saw all four competitors battle each other for the world title. Right away, Lejuan Jones was easily discarded, along with Kaine Harris. However, "The Number One Pick" would have a few near falls of his own. Not to be outdone Keith Yang rallied back into the match and looked like he was going to secure the victory, but it was not meant to be as Shelton Jordan would hit the exploder suplex on LeJuan Jones for the three count and to become the new CPWA World Heavyweight Champion. 3 out of 5 stars. Confetti falls from the sky and pyro goes off as Shelton is crowned the new CPWA World Heavyweight Champion. Elijah, Deron "Ron", and Cedric all enter the ring to celebrate with him as High$takes fades to black. Part 2 Theory about the supernatural plot
Part 3 Chronology of the events (see comments spoilers : Reddit software considers it goes over 40000 characters even if I count around 30000 )

Having played the game in its original version last week I felt at the same time charmed by the gameplay/mood and kinda puzzled/frustrated by the story. I will add my review in a different post.
Looking around to find an explanation, I didnt find anything really consistent. In fact I found other people sharing the same frustration toward the elusive plot.
But I did find out there was a director's cut version and ended up watching long parts of a video walkthrough of the DC version. Even if the game plot still remains fairly elusive , It turned out to be a lot more complete/rounded up and it strenghtened my reading of the plot.
Comparing key moments of both versions, I ended up figuring out a narrative that would make sense of the plot.
So to be perfectly clear, this is a spoiler full guide for people who ended up frustrated by the mysteries of the game. I DISADVISE READING IF YOU HAVENT PLAYED THE GAME. I will refer to the original game as OG and the Director's cut as DC. When I dont mention anything it normally means that the quote stays the same in both version. A few words about DC itself from the author itself
https://adventuregamers.com/forums/viewthread/15566/P90 From the author Krusbert in 2021
“
All the story changes I made to the game was to improve overall plot cohesion, fix pacing problems, tie up loose ends in the narrative and to establish a stronger background lore for more stories with Kathy Hopefully that doesn’t feel like too much of a cop out, but trust that each cut was made deliberately and after careful consideration.”
I wont get in all changes of the DC but here are a few : lily ghost and the grey double of the Crimson one seem to disappear , the grey man in dream day 3 is completely substituted by the crimson man , performing the exact same role with the boy and the painting , A Great Eye appears on screen in the abyss.
overall DC version simplifies/eliminate obscure part , stresses some part/adds more specific details to convey its secret plot in much more accessible way
but in some part, the writer seems to have partly changed the mystic plot : especially regarding Lily fate, Father Isaac answers on day 4 changed dramatically. So this theory adopts mostly the view of the DC version with a few elements of the OG version to cast some additional light.
PART 1 SOURCES OF INFORMATION ABOUT THE SUPERNATURAL PLOT
You have 6 sources of mystic information
but some might not be reliable or only partly reliable
*
Jimmy Cochran (on tape and on day 4) . They are several characteristics that make him the prime authority about the plot.
-he considers himself the sharpest tool in the box. It's a frequent trope in fiction to reverse the obvious : King Lear sees the duplicity of his daughters once he becomes blind. Mad men are frequently the sane character in fiction.
-he shows by far the largest awareness of what’s going on in the game, commenting on almost every aspect of the plot.
-He is also the most cryptic to the point Kathy express her frustration
-He calls out other witness - he calls the church of holy trinity “misguided faithful”
-He has a very peculiar condition : his mind was split in two.
*
Father bill notes/tape :
Partly unreliable base on Jimmy Cochran opinion. His tape is considerably expanded in DC .
*
Priest Isaac you met him on day 1,3 but he becomes especially open once he’s arrested on day 4 Very unreliable based on various elements
*
The Crimson one (and indirectly his Grey double in dreams of day 2 and 3 in OG version)
*
Lily ghost who appears only in OG Version on Day 5 in the Abyss toward the end
*
Joseph Rain at the end in both OG and DC version
PART 2 THEORY ABOUT THE SUPERNATURAL PLOT/LORE
The supernatural plot can be summarized in 3 key ideas.
1-
The lights/the Below dimension are real but not divine, simply dangerous (super)natural phenomenon. The Below is a mirror distorted dimension.
2- the Below distorts desires and fears : Father Bill and Isaac are tormented people with a religious mindset which reshaped the Below 3- Time runs in Loops but the Below stands still. People connected to the Below can foretell the future. SECTION 1-the lights, the below dimension and the red flowers are real dangerous phenomenon.
1.1 the lights are not hallucination, they are real We have a photo taken by Jimmy Cochran and found in Joseph Rain briefcase on day 1 and developed on day 2 that proves they're real.
-But they are not divine, they are a dangerous natural phenomenon
Jimmy :
the lights are neither divine nor unholy. They are but a distortion of ourselves Joseph on a tape you recover on day 4 expands considerably on their nature in DC version :
I have come to believe that the glowing lights are burst of energy, similar to the static discharge that cause lightning . However instead of a positive and a negative electric charge , the colliding forces have a dimensional nature. Assuming this hypothesis is correct, the lights would only appear at the edge of the zone. Their nature is much more arguable in OG but in DC they first and foremost are a sign you ‘re at the limit of the zone where the treshold is : the dark pit where your mind can enter another dimension. The source/below (what the church call the holy of holies).
Being a place of collision between the dimensions touching the lights can have disastrous consequences depending on the invididual.
1.2 The red flowers Their consumption allow to properly enter the below dimension. By extension they are the real link to this alternate dimension. That’s why Kathy burns them at the end in order to cut off the source.
Joseph DC version on day 5 :
I've come to understand the red flowers anchor this realm to the real world 1.3 The
Below/source/cradle of obscurity/ the holy of holies it is a essentially a distorted mirror of our own dimension.
The entrance is called the Threshold. I will refer to that several times.
The Treshold with the Stairs of Judgment
Section 2- The below distorts our fears and desires
intro - the fundamentally twisted nature of the below Jimmy (talking about the lights)
they are but twisted reflection of us. Everything we long for and desire Joseph DC version :
it takes each of your fears , every source of guilt and turns them against us In DC version when Kathy opens her aborted child coffin, the Crimson man makes a difference between people : his kind like broken people like her who can be mended/who embrace them -Kathy is conflicted with his anger toward her father, her guilt toward her mother and aborted kid.
Happy go lucky people like Kathy's friend Eileen are simply “
greedy little piglets that seem to get away ". Same goes for Nathan.
The below needs tormented people to work
Speaking of which…
2-1-Father Bill and his son Isaac are tormented person whose own religious desires/fears are distorted inside the below/source/cradle creating the Crimson man/ the Old god and making this place what we see in the game
Again Jimmy points out how the church of the holy trinity is wrong, calling them "misguided faithful" and stating "the lights are neither divine nor unholy".
But let's wind back the clock to the genesis of the Church in spring 71
Bill had 2 sons : Joshua and Isaac - Now those are very religious name . You don't name give those kind of name twice by accident.
But even more interesting is that the Price family mausoleum shows that Joshua was born in 61 and Isaac in 59. So it seems to strongly imply that BEFORE Bill even became a pastor, back when was still a traveling salesman, he had already a very religious mind.
-Also both Father Bill and his son Isaac are shown to be very conflicted individual
concerning Father Bill and the creation of the church , his own son Isaac expressedly established he was a conflicted individual at the time of the incident
this day was different. My father held dark thoughts in his mind. He was angry, thinking of evil deeds, even considering swerving off the road into a rock and ending it all. Then suddenly, divine intervention! three bright lights appeared.
not only that but upon hearing Father Bill tape on day 4 ) in DC version (where it becomes much more expressive than OG) , Kathy specifically exclaims
"Jeez, Father Bill was a nutty! " Isaac shows even stronger inner conflict - not only he commits suicide out of desperation after hearing his father disapproval , he was already a conflicted individual in his youth
oh yes I was a teenager back then, full of rebellion, every fiber of my being wanting to distance myself from my father 2-2 the Crimson one is Isaac reborn after suicide It might seem surprising because Isaac exists at the same time as Isaac and even condemns the Crimson one. Now let’s put aside the mechanics of how it works for a moment. There are 5 proofs of the identity of the Crimson one
*2-2-1 Jimmy “
Let's go see the man you reunited with his family” on day 4
Jimmy speaks in riddles when interrogated by Kathy on day 4. But when it comes to the Crimson man Jimmy describes him in a really odd and specific way “
Let's go see the man you reunited with his family”. It is extremely relevant to Isaac situation.
-Isaac family are all dead based on the Price familial mausoleum . There are 8 graves. Isaac grave is the ONLY ONE without a death date.
The Price family graves - Kathy makes Isaac hear the tape of his father disapproval of his actions, leading to his suicide which indeed “reunite him with his family” since they’re all dead
-The tv in jail /father billy even says “Welcome home son” when Isaac kills himself.
* 2-2-2 the portrait of father bill crying blood on day 4
when Kathy touches the lights on day 4: she has a vision of the Crimson man issuing mockery statement about victims that make Father Bill portrait cry blood
Father Bill portrait crying blood In DC version the content of the tape left by father Bill in the safe behind the portrait is made much more explicit than in OG
my visions concerning my sons are troubling ... I've watched them become corrupted with pride, turning their backs on the very foundations of our faith ... I've seen great sins committed : Act of violence and intimidation ,. Outsiders brought to hallowed ground with neither reverence nor ritual “ there are dark dreams indeed. I pray that they never come to pass, lest my soul shall weep tears of blood
this is Father Bill vision about Isaac come to pass.
*2-2-3 -Jimmy in OG version on day 4 says the Crimson man is a great ally of Joseph
At face value it seems very confusing considering Joseph very much wants to close the source.
It makes a lot more sense when you consider Isaac had huge respect for Joseph. here's what Isaac says of Joseph on day 3
He and my father did charity work together, Joseph was around a lot when I was young. Joseph was the person who convinced me to become a priest. Joseph made me realize my sinful pride and showed me how I should follow my heart , regardless of what others might think. And for that I am eternally grateful. 2-2-4 : The crimson one is repeatedly referred as having no name/ lost his name.
-The crimson man wheen he meets Kathy on day 3 says
his name has been taken from him that's because the Crimson man exist at the same time as Isaac (as for the why we're going to talk about time in Kathy Rain in section 3 ) : so he cannot call himself Isaac anymore.
specifically in DC it's added on the tape of Father Bill on day 4 the Crimson one is described in the following way
only he is poised to understand the struggle of those who are lost : the broken and guilt ridden .To have no name is to have a shattered spirit. Isaac feels extremely guilty over his actions to the point he committed suicide and his spirit is very much shattered.
*2-2-5 The Crimson one looks vaguely like an hairless version of Isaac with black eyes
2-3 As for the Old God it is arguably Father Bill himself. in DC version there is the appearance of a great red eye
The Great Eye the Crimson one talks with a great red eye on tv on day 2 , the great red eye appears again on tv on day 5
And Isaac describes Father bill trial in the following way :
under the watchful gaze of his GREAT EYE, God tested father's faith in countless ways. Fueled by conviction and a sense of purpose, Father persevered. in OG it is pointed out that Father Bill ascended to unite with God. In OG it's the ultimate goal of the mending. in OG Father bill notes have specifically notes with initial in front of the description of people who ascended : it is marked "FB ?" in blue.
Also the TV in the prison seem to be Father Bill speaking since he says "welcome home son" when Isaac commits suicide. The Prison TV echoes the tv in the below which shows the Great Eye.
2-4 the agenda is nothing but a twisted version of christian theology and rites 2-4-1 the Mending, a hardcore twist on the Christian idea of salvation to Kathy question once Isaac is in jail
what is your church really about Isaac ? what are your trying to accomplish Isaac answers in a surprisingly honest and self-aware way
"the same as any other church. All we want is the salvation of mankind" The "Mending" is at the core of the dogma of the church of holy trinity and it's about salvaging the sinners. As shown by the notes of Father Bill you recover in a safe on day 4
it reflects Father Bill and Isaac desire to save people although they seem differently motivated. Father Bill might truly believe this/act out compassion and reflects his own desire of salvation. In the other hand, Isaac faith seem far less benevolent and shows a lot of pride/moral superiority :
You can try child. I have God on my side. 2-4-2 a controversial doctrine that involves pain Like most zealot their faith can turn kinda inhumane and cruel though. In theory it is well meaning. They want people to be happy osave them. But it’s still based on the predicate most people are sick/sinner. Isaac is the worst.
The Crimson one refers to it as “taking one's medicine”
about Lily :
He wanted her to take her medicine (Nathan recollection about Lily and the crimson one) About Kathy before she gets in the source :
All we want is for you to take you medicine Kathy. For you to grow and be happy. But the mending and generally the connection with the below can make people tremendously suffer (lily, jimmy) and sometimes outright break them mentally -turn them catatonic (Joseph, eileen and countless unnamed other victim according to Isaac himself) :
Regarding the possible failure of the mending, the Crimson man is slightly apologetic about it:
“What one wants and what one is able to do are different “ The crimson one doesn’t force people the way Isaac does even if he's not entirely above manipulation.
In the other hand, Isaac is so focused on his divine mission that he’s straight up indifferent to the people. It's not only collateral damage *(
A necessary evil. I look at the bigger picture, the greater good.)*When pushed, Isaac clearly shows his colors, if it fails it's very much the fault of the sinner.
All I did was bring them face to face with God. If they chose to reject him , they were beyond redemption. That‘s the pride Father Bill was warning against. Isaac is extremely self-righteous and considers he knows better and can do no wrong. Which is pretty rich because Isaac is ignorant of entire aspects of the church doctrine.
2-4-3 Isaac shortcomings : ignorance, lack of empathy and pride It is specifically suggested that Isaac is far less convincing than his father (besides his lack of charisma, his lack of empathy sure didn't help).
-the church flourished and continued to grow all the way up until his suddent death in 1983.That's when I stepped in to take leadership of the Church
-I take it that the church started declining after the death of Father Bill ?
-yes naturallly so, with such an magnetic personality he was irreplaceable
Isaac quickly gets on the defensive and insists the church is still thriving but Kathy points out two signs that things are relatively dire for the church now :
about the church :
Looks kinda empty to me
https://preview.redd.it/idusyyu0h9ra1.png?width=1018&format=png&auto=webp&s=1693fca934caf336f7c30e02f1299c2dcdfc11df about her first meeting with Isaac at the cemetary :
What's up with you handing out pamphlets at funerals then ? trying to reel them in when they're weak ? And that’s why the Crimson one Disappears as soon as Isaac takes over. See Isaac testimony once he’s arrested and how he rejects the notion of Kathy even meeting the Crimson one.
Preposterous. No one has seen that apostate since Father’s death.
The Crimson One disappears because Isaac is simply unable to bring willingly subject to the faith. In such a way the Crimson one refuses to have anything to do with this. The Crimson one wants willing subject.
Remember that the Crimson one doesn’t oppose Kathy leaving before the stairs of judgment /right at the threshold of the mending :
This is crazy, I could just walk away , just ride on my bike and drive. Forget I was ever here.
Nothing is stopping you.
She has to do it on her own free will .
In DC version Father Bill tape says so explicitedly :
the mending is a gift and a duty. But it must begin in the heart of a true believer. Someone who yearns for change and possesses the dedication and perseverance to achieve it. Isaac shortcoming doesnt stop here. In spite of trying to look all-knowing, it’s very arguable whether Isaac even knows where is the Treshold pit to the Below , this black hole in the ground where the Stairs of Judgment appear to the Mender :
The Treshold with the Stairs of Judgment that’s probably why Isaac steals Lily painting. Since the Crimson one disappeared he wanted to bring the sinners to the treshold himself . But he doesn't know where the treshold is. He figures that since Lily received divine knowledge from God, her painting might give clues about where to find the treshold . He's not entirely wrong since Lily painting clearly helped Joseph Rain to find the Source. He's just wrong about those being some sort of secret he needs to unlock by defacing the paintings.
His storage unit makes his frustration clear as he not only defaces all her paintings to find some secret clues but writes on the wall "
where is it ? " (the stealing must at least happen after 1981 since Joseph saw all of them ) . The fact he disfigures them looking for a secret truth very much fit his pride/superiority complex : there has to be a secret truth - one he’s the only one fit to perceive.
-Remember he brings Eileen to his father mausoleum. And he doesnt need to know where the treshshold is to find red flowers : it is shown the red flower grows also at the edge of the forest
-Although he says he brought sinners to the stair of judgment, considering his gigantic pride he might simply be lying rather than admit he doesn’t even know something as central to his faith. Or he might fool himself into thinking that his alternate MO allow people to take the stairs . In fact he considers even “preposterous “ the very idea of Kathy meeting the Crimson one when HE has been actively looking for him for years.
As for why the Crimson one and Isaac MO differs in spite of being originally the same person : remember that Isaac is very distraught by hearing his father stern disapproval and wonder outloud if has strayed from the faith, eventually committing suicide soon afterward. The Crimson one is his reborn version whose ways are corrected to fit his father gentler faith.
I will atone for my sins But how is it even possible for the Crimson one and Isaac to exist at the same time ? . That brings us to the time aspect of Kathy Rain.
Section 3-time loop and foretelling ability
3-1 time loop in the real world It’s Kinda hard to fully understand how time works in Kathy Rain world but the game seems to strongly suggest the real world is going through a time loop
-Jimmy seems to say that Kathy and him had this conversation several times in spite of her not remembering it And she is “
doing so much better than the last time”
-in the director’s cut :
“what came before must come again “ on Kathy father postcard in the hole he fell into in the abyss on day 5
3-2 time stand still in the below And the mirror dimension seem to also distort time . Time pretty much seems to stand still in in the below.
Joseph talking about the time he went catatonic says : “
it hasn’t been so long from my point of view”. It clearly implies that time doesn’t flow the same way below as in the real world
While the real world runs in loops , Time in the Below arguably stand still or runs very slow. It might explain the time paradox of having both Isaac and the Crimson one at the same time : Isaac commits suicide in one time loop and is reborn as the Crimson one ( as for how Isaac committing suicide requires for the Crimson one to exist before, that's the entire nature of time paradoxes. )
3-3 foretelling The Below can see the real world. There seems to be a few channels like Dreams and TV screens. So if people create a connection with the below/the source they can see the future on the real world/ the loops through the Below. And if it looks like mental gymnastic, it's because it is : the toll on the mind is huge.
Jimmy is prime example of the toll it takes - when he touched the lights he found his mind split in two.
I found myself with one foot on either side of the line... the thin line between hell and here. It felt like breathing through my nose with my mouth underwater. Jimmy Says he’s “
below watching reruns “
Jimmy states Lily could see “
the loops, the infinite possibilities ”
-Jimmy also saw Kathy “over a great pit throwing the last memento of [her father] into the empty blackness below” ( which echoes her fight with her dad in the abyss on day 5)
There are even subtler hints I wont get into.
This foretelling stuff brings us to Lily.
3-4 Lily as for Lily : I’d say this part of the plot is really messy. What she can exactly do, what was the church plan for her, what is her ultimate fate.
At some level the writer kinda acknowledge that because in both version she is described in game as a “conundrum” and there seem to be a few contradictions.
No only that but most importantly that there is clearly some evolution between OG and DC . See Isaac testimony about the fate post-death of Lily - it dramatically changes between OG and DC :
in OG : in death [she ]ascended , united with the holy conduit (the holy conduit is the religious name given to the lights by Isaac. And Lily materializes indeed as the three lights on day 5 in the below dimension in the OG version )
in DC : Alas there is no hiding from god. Her soul knows only fire and brimstone now. (and she doesnt appear at all in the DC version )
But it’s possible to get some general idea about Lily place in the plot, regardless of the inconsistencies
Lily connection with the below seems particularly strong : she saw the loops, the infinite possibilities
As for why her connection is so strong , it’s easy to miss, but, if you show the botanical note about the red flower to Sue , Lily's mother, and asks her if she recognizes it she answers
“Sure. Smoked it a few times back in the day”
Similar to pot but much stronger and more unpredictable Never touched the stuff AFTER I got pregnant with Lily.”
it seems to hint that Sue might have smoked the red flower at the very start of her pregnancy . Doing so affected Lily in her womb and might have made created a latent connection with the below which fully activated once she found the lights . Keep in mind that the red flower is the key connection between the below and real world. (To some extent think of Alia in Dune and how Jessica drunk the Water of life while pregnant with her , exposing her unborn child to ancestral memories … which granted her immediate maturity and eventually drove her mad/pushed her to suicide.)
As for her role, the Church/below clearly seems to see Lily as a tool to propagate their doctrine over the world :
in OG she’s literally described as “prophet” by Isaac on day4 ( in OG she even later merge with the lights ). She is also described as a “chronicler” by both Jimmy and Isaac But DC makes clearer the plans of the Church/below for her : Not only does Isaac blames her for rejecting the gift of prophecy of God.
But In DC day 3 the Crimson man says
Listen to the drowned girl
While she may be free in death , her cold wet hands still trap many in painful ignorance.
Lily was meant to be the one to really propagate the message and convert people to the religion.
Lily turns very unhappy once she found the lights and had visions.
In OG Isaac says she was “
part prophet, part mender” in life. Arguably the reason of her suffering and unhappiness was the intensity of the visions she received. Consider that Jimmy vision are not even nearly as strong as Lily - he describes himself as "
a man stuck with his ear against the wall ,
picking up a word here and there". And consider that as a grown man it was already too much and he was eventually interned. It never stops and he's exhausted.
I am so tired Kathy . I can feel the lights even now. Endless static in my head like a TV tuned to a dead channel. Lily was a 15 years old little girl and she could the loops , the infinite possibilities. She was probably feeling constantly dizzy with visions and grew increasingly tired and angry about her condition.
Lilly is specifically urged by the Crimson Man to “
take her medicine” (which means undergoing the mending based on Crimson comment to Kathy) and “
fights” with him according to Nathan .
Whether it was because she was so unhappy and the Crimson one is naturally attracted to unhappy people or because the mending would have made her a better prophet is arguable . At any rate she resisted : most likely because she had already enough disturbing visions and the mending seemed to involve even more emotional pain.
With those core ideas setup, the chronology of events now makes some sense.
I post the chronology in the comments as I went above the character limit

2023.04.01 10:12 pamplemoussefizz Still grieving my grandmother due to no closure and anger
I'm 26, and growing up I only had one person I truly felt was my safe space and support, my grandmother. She had gone through so many hardships growing up that my toxic family kept hidden from me for a very long time. A little backstory, my grandmother was abused for a large part of her life by my racist, alcoholic grandfather (My grandma is Mexican, and my grandfather was white which I felt had to be disclosed as I had said racist). Both my uncle and father knew of this and never did a thing about it. I was unaware of this until I was around 16 when my grandpa died, and I could see the weight being lifted off her shoulders like she was finally free. Since that moment, I made it my mission to be my grandma's support system and allow her the time to finally be free and happy after being robbed of so many years of happiness.
My father and uncle (her sons) possess the same traits my grandpa did. They're alcoholics and have raging anger issues, which unfortunately led me to completely remove myself from that side of the family together (except my grandma of course!). Ever since that point, it became really difficult to get in touch with her though. My dad would tell her these crazy stories about me that never happened making it seem like I didn't want to see her anymore (I suspect this was him trying to alienate me from the one person I still wanted to continue a relationship with on his side). As time went on, she wouldn't answer her house phone anymore, and then one day I got a recording saying her phone was disconnected. This was extremely bizarre and the same thing happened to her cell phone shortly after. I got a really bad gut feeling so I just straight up drove to her house. When I got there and tried knocking, no one answered the door. I came back a couple of days later, and when I knocked I heard her on the other side of the door but she was mumbling and wouldn't open it and sounded not okay. I told my other grandma of this and we decided to call the police to do a welfare check on her in which we found her at 90 lbs, frail, and muttering incoherently. I called my dad in a panic because at the end of the day no matter my feelings toward him, I needed to know what was going on. My dad complained on the phone saying she had developed severe dementia over the past few months and her health was rapidly declining, but this all seemed like an inconvenience to him. He even said since now she's "lost her mind", he canceled her phone plans as he didn't see a need for her to have a house or cell phone anymore, which is why I was unable to get ahold of her. My uncle, who is a touch more reasonable, finally decided to get in-home hospice care for her but requested I only visit when they were not there (which according to her caretaker, my dad nor my uncle EVER visited her).
One day when I was with my grandma, she started talking about how my uncle and dad were taking all her money without her permission and kept pestering her about her will. This completely caught me off guard so I asked her where she keeps all her documents so I can make sure they're safe from them. She said she didn't know because my grandpa took care of all of that when he was alive but she said my uncle and dad started ransacking her house looking for all her banking things. I started to look around her house to see if I could gather anything that they wouldn't be able to steal and put it in a safe place, and to my surprise, found PILES of receipts from 7-Eleven ATMs taking out $500 at a time from her bank account multiple times a week all within recent months (my grandma was bedbound so this was NOT her). I tried to ask my grandma about this but unfortunately, her dementia had gotten so severe, she did not know how to speak English anymore so my focus was just spending as much time with her as I could, even if we couldn't communicate as well anymore. I would often only text my grandma's caretaker if I wanted an update on how she was doing, but eventually, the caretaker stopped responding. After a week or so, I got a bad feeling and went to her house as something was telling me I needed to, and no one answered the door. I called my dad and uncle and got no response. A day later, my uncle texted me saying that he tried to call me last week but my mailbox was full (this was not true, nor did I even have a missed call, but this was a VERY common gaslighting tactic they used many times in the past), but said that my grandma died a week ago (it was about 30 minutes after I left from seeing her). I was so flooded with emotions and feelings of anger, sadness, and grief, I didn't know how to process them. I was so angry at my family for withholding so much from me and for stealing from her and for being so mean and cruel to her. I asked my uncle when and where the funeral would be, and I got no response. I tried again two days later, no response. I called, no answer. Finally, a week and a half later I get a text saying they were just SO busy trying to sell her house that the funeral won't be for at least 3 more months. What?! Selling her house and pocketing that cash was your guy's top priority instead of a funeral? A couple of weeks go by and I ask again, no response. I never found out where she was buried. I never got to attend a funeral. I've spent COUNTLESS hours even to this day trying so hard to find her burial site, death records, etc. but have found nothing. I feel like there's this hole in my stomach because I never got any closure with this. I can never visit her grave or hold any of her things (I tried asking for her photographs as she was an avid photographer and had piles and piles of photo albums, but never got them or even a response so I suspect these ended up in the garbage). It's been almost 3 years now, and I still feel like she just passed yesterday and have not been able to heal. The only thing I have of hers is a ring she gave me when I was a child. It's a gold ring with a ruby on it that fits me perfectly to this day and I never take it off. It's my only reminder of her and I just wish I could talk to her one last time.
I feel like she was robbed of so much with my grandpa, dad, and uncle for so long, and I just wish we could have had more time together to create happy memories while we could.

2023.04.01 09:53 GlitterBeach Weather, jobs, road-trip
I have to be up in a few hours to get ready for an annual road trip. I need to dump my brain somewhere.
Last words my husband said to me before going to bed: Don’t stay up too late because I want us to have a good trip tomorrow.
Currently it’s 2:32AM
I’m in the south-east. The weather is about an hour away and of course I’ve been watching it since midnight because I’m terrified of tornadoes.
I’ve sat here zoned out on the tv, I’ve researched job openings at funeral homes, I’ve read about becoming a CNA, I’ve been browsing my local obituaries to see if I know anyone. Usually I do. It’s a small town. I’m also so darn hungry. And my hair is tickling my face.
I’m newly diagnosed 38/F as of a week ago and not on meds yet.
I have never had a desire to work in a funeral home, yet I was so invested in searching for an opening. Major respect to those who work in that line of work! I don’t think I could handle it as I would be joining the families and crying and hugging them.
I’ve job hopped half my life through healthcare. I don’t stay anywhere long. I love the line of work, it’s just that my ADHD keeps me so frazzled all the time.
Icing on top of the cake: I CANNOT WORK RIGHT NOW AND I KNOW THIS. I have a teenage daughter who requires ALLLLLLL of my attention at the moment and that’s why I had to quit my last job at the hospital. So why the heck am I up looking for jobs when I need to be sleeping!!!!!
Still, here I sit with my eyes burning and listening to the thunder in the distance, with my dog next to me having the occasional nightmare, looking up jobs I know I don’t want and even if I did, I can’t have them.
WHY AM I LIKE THIS!!!!
This is all new to me and I’m feeling like the walls are caving in because it all makes sense to me now. I’ve been through so many meds for disorders I never had. Just to name a few: Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder. I’m still on a crap ton of meds that I want off of, but can’t. The withdrawals are terrible. I don’t even need them!
It was ADHD all along and not a soul thought to test me. 🥲🫠 Thanks, my first psychiatrist who went through a midlife crisis when I was under her care and got a divorce and skipped down on her patients. You ruined most of my life. Years I won’t get back because I don’t remember the first 3 years of my daughters life due to the Bipolar meds you had me on.

2023.04.01 09:28 Boring40something I am just so angry tonight
In December and January I lost three people, one of which was my fiancé for the past 9 years when he completed suicide. My life has changed so quickly and terribly and radically that it doesn’t even feel real, like please just let me wake up from this hell I’m in.
I’ve commented here and there but really never told my story. I’ll try to be brief but I usually can’t.
J and I had a daughter together (7yo), had cohabitated for 8 years, he was a wonderful stepdad figure to my older kiddos. His family hated me because he lowered his standards to be with a single mom and it was just constant judgmental crap all these years. There was literally always tension, not between us but because of his mother.
The last couple of months were pretty rough. We weren’t getting along. He was working later than usual. Everything turned into a blow up fight. He was a very emotionally needy person especially at the end and I’m one that tries to just live their life and needs space sometimes. He was not, to put it mildly. It was so overboard I began to resent him. He acted jealous of the kids. His need for attention became an “any attention is good attention” and he was downright cruel and if all we did was fight, at least I was focused on only him.
On the day he died, we were served with an eviction notice which absolutely blind sided me. He has always been in charge of the finances, even my meager income from my job. As soon as he heard me talking to the process server he came downstairs he put a gun in his mouth with myself and my kids right there. Now, it was a ticking time bomb because he had left an absolute manifesto degrading me, our kids, his coworkers, the world. Apparently he had gotten fired two months before and didn’t want to tell me or idk what really. Forgot to mention, he was apparently abusing adderall as well.
In the immediate aftermath I guess the process server called the cops or 911. Idk, maybe I did. The process server did call his mom for me because I knew it would be ugly. She immediately took over and started drama. We weren’t married, our state doesn’t accept common law situations and she used that up. I was not allowed to go to the funeral nor were my kids, I can only assume she had one in their hometown ~6ish hours away. The original funeral homes hands were tied and they couldn’t release any info or him to me legally. To hell with the woman who gave him his only child and lived with him for literal years.
Knowing I just lost our breadwinner, I was on the verge of being homeless was almost more than I could take. Somehow I pulled it together and got a second job at McDonald’s. I’ve worked my tail off, found all the assistance I could find and still came up short a few hundred of the rent. I had until Monday to get it together, she was beyond patient but the owner won’t allow the property manager to extend further.
I should be packing. I spent all day looking for temp shelters and such, just any kind of stop gap. Took off early to go meet a caseworker for food and medical so hopefully in a week or less that should be resolved. On top of this my youngest is absolutely hysterical most days missing him so bad, or begging to let her go to heaven too.
Life is heavy. I don’t even know how to move forward with this. I have no family myself, I’m an only child and lost my parents in my late 20s and early 30s. I’m not a believer because tbh I’m still too damn angry. I had no closure, I lost the love of my life and found out the last few months he was unemployed and hated me and my kids! Good times.
There is no real point to this, I just needed to vent. I know money is quite often part of the cause of suicide so people have been through worse, but in this moment I can’t imagine worse and I guess I just need a stranger to come to my imaginary pity party to cry and feel sorry for ourselves.
I am just angry and lost. I miss him, I love him, but I freaking hate him.

2023.04.01 08:52 Ok_Reason_951 My parents’ drinking is ruining our relationship, how do I set boundaries with them
I(25) love my parents. Until they drink. As a kid my sisters and I were left at home while my parents went to the bar at least twice weekly. Made me feel second best to a glass of beer. I was extremely angry as a teenager and now that I live in another town on my own I’ve made alot of progress to fix that. I’ve worked hard not to jump to anger like I used to and moving has been the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. But every time I visit I fall back into who I was. Now my older sister is becoming my father.
My dad (57) got his 4th dui when I was in high school and I learned to drive by taking him to the prerelease center to do breathalyzer tests daily. He didn’t go to jail thanks to his lawyer and stopped drinking for over a year. It was the proudest I’d ever been of my dad, he fucked up and almost ruined us but quit and fixed himself. But he’s back to drinking now and it’s heartbreaking.
My mom (56) drinks a lot too, although she is better than my dad at not getting plastered every time they go out she still drinks a lot and I’m sure she drives drunk despite everything. If I ask them to slow down or plan a way home they never do. It always falls onto me to figure it out.
The spark that’s making me write this my grandpas funeral. My dad is dealing with it by taking it out on us and drinking. He’s making rude comments to me when I try to stand up for myself or my mom. I got to the point where I left my grandpas memorial party, got my bags and checked into a hotel. Texted them I was staying at a hotel and he said “good” back. I am at the end of my rope. I don’t know what to do.
I love my parents until they drink. I need to set boundaries I know that but I don’t know how. What do I say? Should I wait considering my dad is grieving? Do I cut them off until they get it together?

2023.04.01 05:52 sani_tizer UMKC BA/MD Vs. OU MHSP
i need help choosing between these two BA/MD programs. vote on the poll if you're familiar. if not, read these facts about each first
UMKC BA/MD: University of Missouri Kansas-City pros: - no mcat
- MD done in 6 years
- docent program (built-in shadowing + patient interaction)
- large cohort of 100 kids
- close to home/3hr drive
cons: - rigorous (1/3 of the kids fail at least one class)
- expensive, almost 60k more expensive than OU MHSP
- dingy campus, location (missouri part of KC not so great)
- only vacation is 4 weeks out of the year
-----
OU MHSP: University of Oklahoma, Medical Humanities Scholars Program pros: - get to explore the humanities
- warmer weather + nicer environment
- get to choose the level of rigor
- get to apply to other medical schools while having OU's medical school as a conditional offer (contingent upon MCAT score of 509)
- National Merit Finalist scholarship package during bachelors and one year of med school
- 60k less expensive (dependent upon mcat)
cons: - mcat required
- 7 year MD
- far from home, have to take flights with halts/8 hr drive
- homesickness likely
- no cohort (5-8 scholars working independently)

2023.04.01 05:32 riverseine Opinion of deceased father is altering
Dad was … everything. Solid, reliable, so smart, fun to be around, a real-life hero. I have always been so proud of him. He could hold his breath underwater longer than anyone I knew, lifted scaffolding above his head, saved people from fires, built homes with gorgeous masonry work. I’ve idolized him since I can ever remember.
Dad was married before he married my mom. He had three boys with his first wife, and through a series of court hearings about child support, visitation, and possible safety concerns surrounding my mother’s mental health, Dad did not have contact with his sons from the time I was 3 years old and onward. His sons would have been 13, ~11 and ~8. I cried my eyes out for “the boys” growing up. I wanted my brothers, and often asked why we didn’t see them, had dreams about them, and wrote stories as if we were still growing up together. I was told Dad’s first wife fought dad for higher child support because “the boys were there first and needed to come first” and then there was an incident with my mother that caused their mom to be concerned for safety, and their mom sued for full custody.
I always accepted the stories, that dad was essentially helpless to keep paying the court and lawyer fees to fight the custody battle. I saw him as the innocent party and his first wife as the bad guy. As an adult, I asked Dad what happened once. He opened his mouth as if to say something, closed his mouth, opened again and started to speak, closed his mouth, put out his cigarette, and went to bed. We never spoke of it again.
He never reconciled with his sons. He saw his eldest son maybe a handful of times - two that I know of for sure - when his eldest became an adult. He ran into the middle son once, and I don’t think he ever saw the youngest again. Dad died a few years ago. His sons attended a memorial at the funeral home, but not the funeral or burial. It was strained, but I was thrilled to see them again.
I still held out that Dad did his best. It was a messy divorce, Dad was stretched between his sons with his first wife, and his daughters with his second. Money was tight - my parents sold their little farm and bought a smaller place in town following the court battles. From the one adult attempt at a conversation, I gathered it was difficult for Dad to think about, let alone discuss.
Then I became a parent.
There is nothing and no one that would keep me from her. I see Dad as the flawed and imperfect human he was, rather than the perfect, heroic man I made him out to be. He is simultaneously more real and less understandable.
I want to tell my brothers this, but it doesn’t feel right working through these revelations by venting to them. For what purpose? To drag up past trauma they may have already worked through, and have no wish to relive? So here I am - venting to the void. Thank you for reading if you’ve made it this far.

2023.04.01 05:27 Leoinlive My interpretation of Beach Life-In-Death and what it means for Twin Fantasy
Disclaimer: I'm not claiming this to necessarily be correct or what Will intended for the album, it's just my own interpretation of what this absolute masterpiece of a song and album mean. Furthermore, I'll avoid using their real names as much as possible, as again, this is just my own interpretation of the song and probably doesn't reflect actual events which happened in Will's life.
I was thinking about what a wonderful song Beach Life-In-Death is and what it's lyrics meant in the context of the larger story of the album, and eventually I came to the conclusion that the song represnts Will being haunted by the past, present and future of his relationship with Cate, and kickstarts what happens during the rest of the album.
Let's start with the very beginning of the song, where our narrator reminisces about a happy memory of his partner after driving to Harper's Ferry, which sends him spiraling into a reflection of his relationship on the drive back.
Part I
This section of the song is before the relationship has started (the past), here the person our narrator is interested in already has a partner, which causes him immense pain, writing songs about not being able to be with them, and seemingly falling apart at the seams because of said inability. Already our narrator is in love with the impossible fantasy of a perfect relationship with this person, and suffering because it would never come true.
I wrote beach death when I thought you were taken I wrote beach funeral when I knew you were taken
It should be anti-depression As a friend of mine suggested Because it's not the sadness that hurts you It's the brain's reaction against it
It's not enough to love the unreal I am inseparable from the impossible I I want gravity to stop for me My soul yearns for a fugitive from the laws of nature
I wanna quickly point out the dog motif line, as it could cause a crack in the theory that this all takes place before the relationship. I take the line to not actually be talking about the album itself, here "Dog" represents Cate (known as Partydog at the time), and a motif being something that reappears repeatedly, so the dog motif actually represents Will talking to his friends about Cate often. This could even be seen as the narrator's friends playing a joke on him, as he had just drunkenly come out to them moments prior.
I pretended I was drunk when I came out to my friends I never came out to my friends We were all on Skype And I laughed and changed the subject She said "what's with this dog motif" I said Do you have something against dogs?
Part II
This section jumps in time, where the narrator and his (now) partner are already in some kind of relationship (the present). The narrator still shows an obsession with his partner, though he sees the cracks starting to form in this toxic union.
The relationship isn't official:
It's been a year since we first met I don't know if we're boyfriends yet
They're getting hypocritical, and they don't know what they want:
We said we hated humans We wanted to be humans
They feel the need to hide their relationship around loved ones:
And you can take him home to your mother And say, Ma, this is my brother
Overall, things slowly start to get repetitive, boring and tiring, as they were before they even dated:
Get more groceries, get eaten get more Groceries, get eaten, get more groceries get eaten
Despite all this (and more as we see in later tracks), our narrator desperately wants to continue what he has, as he has idealized this person and this relationship so more, that he'd hold on to it, regardless of how much it might hurt him:
Get eaten by the one you love When they put their lips around you You can feel their smile from the inside
Part III
This section takes place once their romance is over (the future). The two of them remained friends, but the other person no longer showed any interest in the narrator, and he desperately wished for it to come back:
Your ears perked up I perked up when your ears perked up You were all looking around And I hoped it was for me I hoped you were using your sonar systems for me
From here, the rest of the song essentially mourns what happened, and the narrator wishes he would've heard the warnings and never started a relationship in the first place.
The ancients saw it coming You can see that they tried to warn them In the tales that they told their children But they fell out of their heads in the morning
They said sex can be frightening But the children were not listening And the children cut out everything Except for the kissing and the singing
Finally, the ocean washes open the grave of the narrator's partner, meaning that the sadness that was felt during this reflection of what happened caused the narrator to keep going down the rabbit hole of his relationship, what could've been, and how bad things really were.
What does this mean for the rest of the album?
Following this thread, you could interpret the rest of the songs on the album up until Cute Thing, as a close-up look at how the narrator's relationship developed over time, with
"Stop Smoking" representing self-destructive habits,
"Sober To Death" dealing with anger issues and the perils of a long distance relationship,
"Nervous Young Inhumans" being a further inspection of the narrator idealizing the relationship,
"Bodys" about their complicated sexual relationship, and
"Cute Thing" being a breaking point in the relationship, with our narrator desperately trying to hold the connection together, and distracting himself with whatever he can.
"High To Death" is the break up song, with them no longer together, and the narrator sunk in an extreme state of depression.
"Famous Prophets" sees the narrator dealing with the fact that the relationship is forever over, and finally breaking free from the fantsasy. Lastly,
"Those Boys" is the nail in the coffin, with a fairly meta twist. Will has moved on from what happened, but it'll forever be immortalized in the themes and lyrics of Twin Fantasy.
As one last footnote (and something i just found interesting), in the vinyl edition’s lyric sheet this song is subtitled
"a cursed song". I think this might be in reference not only to Will being haunted by his past, present and future (much alike to the story "A Christmas Carol"), but also the fact that this song is what begins his further reflection into the relationship.
TL;DR
BLID's three sections represent every step of the narrator's relationship with his partner (the before, during and after), with the very end of the song releasing every single thought he has about the relationship, and manifesting it in the form of the rest of the songs on the album, eventually ending with closure.

2023.04.01 04:38 Ok_Sherbert_3987 My daughter said her first word today
And I have this irrational fear that my mother will die.
A little under two years ago I lost my father and the day before, my son said his first word, “Dadda” looking directly at me. He said it about a hundred times just staring at me saying it and the entire next day while we were at the funeral home saying goodbye to my dad.
Six months later my mother was diagnosed with stage four cancer. At one point she was so close to death she was hallucinating my father. That same week I found out I was pregnant with my daughter. I know she was sent to me during this time for a reason.
Today my beautiful baby said her first word, “momma.” And all of me is over the moon and trying to simply revel in this moment but a part of me is irrationally terrified this could mean something else.

2023.04.01 04:13 oldsilva How did we make this list?
2023.04.01 03:44 TopRule8217 MCU Phase 4 Rewrite Part 1-The Shows
Introduction:
https://ibb.co/Y88HkpK In my opinion, Marvel Phase 4 was not this giant disaster as some people (mainly racists, homophobes, grifters and sexists) made it out to be.
However, the fact that Secret Wars is happening this early, and The X-Men won't be introduced until after Phase 6, made me decide to make my very own MCU canon, and plus, if I was in charge, I'd heavily change some of the movies and Disney+ shows and save Secret Wars for five years later in my timeline
(2031), when The X-Men and many other characters from the comics are already introduced like,
Wolverine, The X-Men, Cyclops, Emma Frost, Magneto, Doctor Doom, Venom, Miles Morales, Black Cat, Inhumans, Nova, Silver Surfer, Galactus, Blue Marvel, Ghost Rider, Sentry, Tigra, Brother Voodoo, X-Force, Spider Woman (Jessica Drew), Beta Ray Bill, Hyperion, The New Mutants, X-Factor, Captain Britain, Psylocke, Iron Lad, Alpha Flight, etc.
My MCU canon functions extremely similarly to Star-Wars Legends, but if the canon version wasn't utter garbage, compared to it, in my opinion, anyway.
Also, in my continuity, Phase 4 would last four (hehe) years like the previous phases did, and if we got 18 movies and shows combined, in two years, it will be a long four years of content.
(Hypothetically, anyway) I'm completely rebooting Ghost Rider, Blade, The Fantastic Four, Hellstrom, Inhumans and especially The X-Men. However, the previous versions still exist and appear in films involving the multiverse.
The FOX Universe is a separate universe, and I'd completely reboot The X-Men. However, Deadpool and his supporting cast, like Vennessa, Colossus, Domino, Cable, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Yukio, Weasel, etc, would transport to The MCU through the multiverse.
As for SONY and their horrible Spider-Man Universe. In my ideal universe, SONY and Disney deal extends to other Spider-Man characters like Venom, Kraven, Morbius, The Black Cat, Silver Sable, Silk, Miles Morales, Ben Reilly, and Gwen Stacy (Spider-Gwen), it's not just Peter Parker himself that the deal extends to.
I'd do my own MCU versions of Eddie Brock, Morbius, Kraven, Black Cat, Silver Sable, Silk, Man Wolf, Prowler, Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, Scarlet Spider, etc.
While SONY can make live action films about all the alternate versions of Spidey, such as, Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Ham, Spider-Punk, Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 4, and The Amazing Spider-Man 3, after the events of No Way Home. This can build up to a live action adaptation of Spider-Verse.
(Don't worry, the animated version would still happen in my ideal universe) That would be done, in my timeline, instead of making villain films that don't even mention Spider-Man.
Also, regarding Marvel Television, before Disney+. Most of these shows are canon in My MCU Continuity, and this includes,
-Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
-Daredevil
-Jessica Jones
-The Punisher
-Luke Cage
-Iron Fist
-The Defenders
-Runaways
-Cloak and Dagger
-Agent Carter
However, Inhumans and Hellstrom are so horrible, in my eyes, that they are considered non canon and will be rebooted.
With all that out of the way, let's completely rewrite Phase 4 and make Phase 5-6 completely from scratch.

Without further ado, let's begin my Post-Endgame Universe with...
WandaVision:
The Plot: I liked the show, it was slow, but the last 2-3 episodes really saved it for me. However, Wanda turning evil after this is way too soon to me, and it's done in the most poorly written way possible in Multiverse of Madness. Also, references to sitcoms are reduced.
Episode 1: Filmed before a Live Studio Audience: We start at a S.W.O.R.D facility, where we see S.W.O.R.D scientists breaking down Vision's corpse from Infinity War, and taking his vital components and implementing them into a new pale white vibranium body. Meanwhile, we see Wanda Maximoff from a window, watching in horror, as Vision's body is being broken down instead of a proper funeral or burial.
(Roll the Marvel Studios logo)
Wanda, stealthily takes out the guards by putting them to sleep, hypnotically, then she busts into the main lab, angrily, with furious red eyes and she attacks the scientists using her telekinesis. But the scientists explain themselves and calm Wanda down and explain that they are trying to revive Vision, but they are stuck on how to get Vision's memories back, but it's revealed that Wanda has the memories.
Wanda uses some of her hex abilities to insert Vision's memories into his brain module. Vision activates and appears to remember and recognize Wanda, but something's off about him, he has his emotions removed from him, but Wanda doesn't mind or even notice at first.
Wanda and the newly revived Vision, head to the neighborhood of Westview, which is where the original Vision wanted to settle down with Wanda before The Infinity War happened. Wanda creates a bubble around the area with magic that she didn't even know she had and Wanda turns the color around her and Vision into black and white.
Episode 2: Don't Touch That Dial: Wanda and Vision are enjoying their time in this black and white, sitcom-like, world and their haunted looking house. This is where we can make references to several sitcoms, and Quicksilver even gets revived and Wanda eventually has kids, Billy and Tommy, but they grow up fast into their teens like in the actual show.
Sparky is created as a pet for Billy and Tommy, like in the actual show. Meanwhile, The Hex’s amount of energy and magic catches the attention of S.W.O.R.D, Jimmy Woo, General Hayward, Darcy and Monica Rambeau.
We keep the scene where Monica was snapped and when she came back, her mother, Maria, died five years ago. S.W.O.R.D is curious as to what Wanda did with the Vision body they created, since they checked the security footage and they see that Wanda just walked out with it and why there is a bubble of magical energy and many people in the middle of a known ghost town, so they send a transmission to Wanda.
Meanwhile, Wanda tries to leave the hex to make sure she actually revived her brother and creates children out of pure magic. Quicksilver goes along with her sister but when he tries to leave The Hex, he glitches out and almost dies, but Wanda telikenicly pushes Pietro back into The Hex. Panicked, Wanda returns to The Hex and realizes that her own magic alone cannot create life, let alone bring back the dead. But she finds a book underground and it’s a copy of The Darkhold, The book of the damned.
(Note: Calling this Darkhold "a copy", keeps Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. canon since Robbie Reyes took the original Darkhold to Hell to prevent it from being in the wrong hands, and this also writes off The Darkhold that Morgan Le Fay has in Runaways as a copy) She tries to find some spell that will work to allow Quicksilver and her children to survive outside The Hex, but she also has to deal with Vision, he might have his memories back, but he lacks his emotions and his colors, since his body is just pale white, regardless on what world he’s in, Hex or otherwise. He often acts cold and takes things literally, So Wanda has to fix that as well.
However, Wanda is slowly being corrupted by The Darkhold, and she even is more aggressive and overall, has a more violent and sadistic demeanor. She hears the S.W.O.R.D transmission and she tells Vision, Quicksilver and the kids to stay inside The Hex, as she exits the area.
Wanda confronts the SWORD agents, who are right outside The Hex’s location. The SWORD agents ask Wanda about The Hex and the Vision body that was taken and Monica tries to reason with Wanda, and Wanda just screams “Leave me and my family alone'' and a huge action scene happens.
Wanda starts by blowing up the Armored SWORD vehicles with her hex bolts, when they attempt to open fire on her. The agents try to shoot Wanda with their energy weapons, but she blocks it with her energy shields.
Wanda brutally kills many of the S.W.O.R.D. agents by snapping their necks, burning them alive with her hex blasts, telekinetically ripping them apart or choking them to death. It's the most brutal that my version of The MCU has gotten up to this point.
Monica, Jimmy Woo, Darcy and General Hayward retreat to make sure they don't get killed by Wanda. After all the S.W.O.R.D agents are dead, Wanda walks menacingly back into The Hex with her eyes bloodshot red.
Episode 3: Now in Color: The S.W.O.R.D team formulates a plan to disable The Hex and apprehend or kill Wanda, if necessary. Much to Monica's protest and dismay. Meanwhile, back in The Hex, which is now colored, Wanda is still trying to find that spell that will allow her brother and two children to survive outside The Hex. But then, Wanda is approached by a mysterious person named Agnes.
Agnes teaches and manipulates Wanda about The Darkhold and Wanda is succumbing more and more to The Darkhold's influence. Meanwhile, S.W.O.R.D. Forces are surrounding The Hex and they are about to launch an assault on Wanda, they plan to take her in, but they'll kill her if they see it as necessary.
They send Monica to see where Wanda is located from the inside, and as Monica enters The Hex, her body begins mutating as she hauls through the extra-dimensional energy field, but she ultimately makes it through. Wanda manages to perform the right spell to allow Quicksilver and her two kids to survive outside The Hex, but Agnes just grins in a sinister manner.
Monica spies on Agnes and Wanda and Monica sees The Darkhold and she realizes what's happening to her. Monica tries to warn Wanda of what The Darkhold is doing to her mind and overall sanity.
Unfortunately, Wanda sees no harm, especially because she was successful in bringing her brother back and having two kids. Wanda, cheered on by Agnes, telekinetically throws Monica out of The Hex, and back into the real world. The SWORD agents retrieve Monica, who is barely conscious, we see her body and eyes are glowing yellow.
Episode 4: Breaking The Fourth Wall: Vision, after seeing Monica being violently thrown out of The Hex, begins to question Wanda's ethics and what are Agnes's true intentions, since she did cheer Wanda on to do this but she claims that she wants to help.
Vision talks to Wanda about this and the two begin getting aggressive and arguing with each other like in Episode 5 of the show that we actually got.
Meanwhile, General Hayward is fed up with Wanda's violent demeanor and devises a plan to execute her and Monica immediately protests this plan, since she knows that Wanda is being manipulated by Agnes and The Darkhold, but the S.W.O.R.D scientists and personnel don't believe her.
Darcy also stands with Monica. The S.W.O.R.D soldiers immediately point their guns at Monica, after noticing her eyes glowing yellow. They fire at her, but the bullets just phase through her torso, like they are shooting at air. Monica runs away and she instinctively energy blasts a chunk through a brick wall in the S.W.O.R.D facility to escape along with Darcy.
Monica and Darcy are hiding in a house in The Hex, Monica is extremely shocked to learn that she has superhuman abilities. She tests her energy blasts, which can blast through concrete and solid steel. Her energy form, which allows her to be superhumanly fast and phase through physical objects and Darcy does some energy tests and it's also revealed that Rambeau can transform herself into any form of energy within the electromagnetic spectrum.
Among the many energy forms she has assumed and is able to control are visible light, cosmic rays, gamma rays, X-rays, ultraviolet radiation, electricity, infrared radiation, microwaves, radio waves, and neutrinos. By assuming an energy-form, she gains all of that energy's properties. She can bend the light around her to camouflage and seem invisible.
However, she does have limitations with her abilities, Rambeau is only able to retain her energy form for an hour at a time, before having to recharge herself and she can only transform herself into one wavelength of energy at a time.
They later bump into Vision, who is investigating The Hex's properties and trying to find any dirt on Agnes. Vision also states that he's not amused with how suspicious Agnes seems. Vision agrees to help Monica and Darcy to bring Wanda back to her normal self. Meanwhile, back at the S.W.O.R.D. facility, General Hayward reveals that the S.W.O.R.D scientists still have Vision's schematics and they build another Vision, which they intend to use on Wanda and to detain Monica Rambeau.
Episode 5: This is Halloween: Vision briefly returns to Wanda, but he will check on Monica and Darcy, to spend some time with his wife. Which subtly shows that some of his emotion is returning. It's basically the Halloween episode we got, from here on out. Just without the Vision and Agnes interaction, since we already saw her prior, in this rewrite.
Agnes still kills Sparky behind Wanda's back. Quicksilver is very protective of Wanda like in the comics, Pietro got encouragement from Agnes. Vision is still investigating what is going on with Wanda's behavior and what are Agnes's intentions. The Comic Accurate costumes still show up as Halloween costumes and as a reference to comic fans.
Episode 6: Previously On: General Hayward, Jimmy Woo, White Vision and the S.W.O.R.D. forces begin to make their way toward The Hex. Vision, who is scouting the area, sees the S.W.O.R.D forces making their way to Wanda's location, so he warns Monica and Darcy.
Meanwhile, Wanda discovers Agnes's basement and this is where Agnes reveals herself to Wanda, Billy and Tommy, as Agatha Harkness and a witch. She enthralled Maximoff, projecting visions into her mind that revealed herself to have manipulated the recent events, which included, lying to Vision to further distance him from Maximoff, killing Sparky, and manipulating Pietro to watch over Maximoff.
Agatha also states that she came to Westview because she sensed the immense power involved in all the magic and was impressed.
She wanted to know what had allowed Wanda to have such immense power and how she could cast so many high level spells all at once and even have them self perpetuating without Wanda's direct involvement, Agatha is an experienced witch and knows how difficult that is. She wants that kind of power herself.
Wanda attempts to read Harkness' mind, but this proved ineffective as Harkness had placed a protection spell around the room with runic symbols and in turn bound Maximoff in magical bonds. She then demonstrated her magical powers to Maximoff including transmutation and mind control and explained to Maximoff that she is capable of performing such magic but on a grander scale.
Harkness then demanded to know how Maximoff created the Hex in the first place, but Maximoff was unable to recall how she pulled it off.
Harkness plucked a hair from Maximoff's head and used it to open a gateway into Maximoff's memories and to ensure Maximoff would follow her. Harkness revealed she was still holding Tommy and Billy somewhere in her dungeon, and having no other choice Maximoff followed Harkness through the door.
Agatha then goes into Wanda's memories, which puts Wanda in a lot of pain, on top of being mind raped. We see that Wanda was in reality, was really born to Erik Lehnsherr and Magda England, which shocks Wanda, since she remembers being raised in Sokovia. We also see Pietro and a second sister, who is in a green blanket. (This will set up Magneto and Polaris, appearing in later movies)
We then see Magda screaming and dying in a house fire due to an angry mob forming, and they are chasing Erik out along with the three kids. Erik put up Wanda and Pietro for adoption in Sokovia.
We then see her childhood in Sokovia, the Stark Industries missile blowing up her parents, but Wanda used her probability powers to save herself and her brother, which is the first display of her powers, and Vision comforting Wanda and watching sitcoms shortly after Quicksilver's death, back in Age of Ultron.
Having seen all she needed to put the pieces together, Harkness applauded Wanda Maximoff's display of Magic, before teleporting Wanda and herself outside, where she held Tommy and Billy Maximoff with magical nooses around their throats, Harkness then revealed to Maximoff that she was a being long thought to be a myth, a being capable of creating something from nothing with the great power of Chaos Magic, and Maximoff was in fact the Scarlet Witch.
Her mother, Magda, also had magical potential, but her child would always be 100-times more powerful. Maximoff attacks Harkness to release her hold on her children, before ordering them both inside of the Vision Residence to shield themselves. Attempting a second attack, Maximoff soon discovered that Harkness was able to not only absorb her chaos magic, but take a portion of her life force as well.
Harkness attempted to strike a bargain with Maximoff, She would be able to maintain the Westview Anomaly and her reclusiveness, but she would have to give up the chaos powers. However, Wanda declines, flies up towards Agatha and the two begin to fight. Vision, Monica and Darcy show up to help. Darcy gives Monica a suit, and she even nicknames Monica, Photon. General Hayward, White Vision and the S.W.O.R.D. military forces show up on the ground and begin to open fire on Wanda and Agatha.
Wanda, who has had enough of General Hayward, brutally burns him and most of the agents alive using her hex energy wave, with a smile on her face. Vision tells Monica and Darcy that he'll deal with the White Vision, who had his target on Wanda, and the two living synthezoids fly towards each other and start shooting beams at each other. Monica, despite her disdain for Hayward, calls Wanda out for her actions.
But Monica knows the pain of suddenly losing a loved one, she tells Wanda that she can connect and empathize with her, despite Wanda being sadistic, brutally killing many S.W.O.R.D soldiers, scientists and General Hayward, and Monica was attacked by her on two separate occasions, although those were merely fits of rage from a grieving Avenger who couldn't let go of a life she almost never had, and she was manipulated by Agatha and under the control of The Darkhold, which fuels her anger and aggression, so Wanda is not exactly irredeemable ether.
Wanda, using Monica's words and her own willpower, manages to break free of The Darkhold's influence, despite Agatha taunting Wanda about her failures and blurred morality, as they are in a standoff, levitating in the red sky. Wanda epically transforms into The powerful Scarlet Witch to fight Agatha and to end this madness.
Episode 7: The Series Finale: Wanda fights Agatha, just like in the show that we got. Vision and White Vision have the same fight as they did in the actual show and Vision gives his memories to White Vision. I'd keep the "I am Vision" line, and like in the show we got, White Vision flies away, which is setting up his own series.
After Wanda defeats Agatha and destroys The Darkhold, she breaks down in tears after realizing what she's done, as she sees the burned skeleton of General Hayward and the many S.W.O.R.D soldiers that she has slaughtered during her Darkhold rampage. However, Monica comforts Wanda and congratulates her on overcoming her dark side and doing the right thing in the end, but the S.W.O.R.D. forces are about to arrive to take her in and Wanda flies away with Quicksilver, Billy and Tommy.
Wanda is not completely off the hook for her actions. Though she is hiding in a haunted house, raising her two sons and reconnecting with Quicksilver, trying to redeem herself.
Post Credit Scenes: Doctor Strange and Wong, senses The Scarlet Witch's presence, which sets up the Multiverse of Madness, with Wanda's redemption, instead of ruining her character further.
Magneto, in shadow, with only his helmet visible, sees footage of Wanda on the news, and he immediately knows that one of his children is alive and well. This sets up The X-Men, and Wanda meeting her biological father in the future.
S.W.O.R.D, Nick Fury, Maria Hill, Quake, Coulson, Jimmy Woo and Monica, now known as Photon, discuss Wanda's actions and Fury decides to let Wanda off the hook, for now, since she did stop Agatha, felt extremely remorseful about her actions and she did destroy The Darkhold, which especially after the events of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D, they know it is a dangerous artifact.
But they will execute Wanda, if she shows any aggression. So, Wanda is now a controversial figure among the superhuman community, going forward.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier:
The Plot: Most of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier would stay the same, except for Sharon Carter, who is a spy for S.H.I.E.L.D. against The Power Broker, who I'd later reveal in the Echo series, to be The Kingpin.
It's revealed that Sharon is working with Fisk, for S.H.I.E.L.D. to get information for an eventual sting operation. She doesn't enjoy selling superhuman enhancements and dangerous weapons, but she sees it as necessary. Sharon Carter still shoots and kills Karli, and Sam Wilson is not fine with this.
Sharon would reveal to Sam what she's doing and her intentions, this will cause some extreme tension between Sam Wilson and S.H.I.E.L.D. in the future.
This isn't the last time that S.H.I.E.L.D. would do some shady things in My MCU Continuity. This also makes Sharon Carter way less evil, and more in character for her. She'd seem like the type of person that does what she thinks is the right thing, even if you do some very questionable things in the process, kinda like a more extreme Steve Rogers.
Other Changes: Battlestar doesn't die, but he is, however, in a coma. I think it's extremely hypocritical that Marvel wants to push a black man as Captain America, when in the same series this happens in, they use the racist "The Black Guy Dies First" trope.
They could have easily just said that Battlestar was badly injured or in a comatose state and that could have pushed John Walker to cross the line and take the life of that Flag Smasher, which causes him to be stripped of being Captain America.
Also, I think Battlestar could be a good member for The Thunderbolts and be another positive role model for black boys. There was some wasted potential with this character.
Steve Rogers' status of being dead or alive is way more clear in my rewrite. I'd have Bucky say that Steve is retired and the serum prevents the user from dying of old age. That could be a backdoor for Steve Rogers to return in the future.
LOKI:
The Plot: LOKI would stay exactly the same, but Sylvie has Lady Loki as her codename, instead of it being ambiguous. Enchantress would be later saved for my version of Love and Thunder.
What If…?:
The Plot: Most of What If would stay the exact same in My MCU. However, Natasha from Earth-29929, or the Earth that Infinity Ultron completely annihilated and took over. After Infinity Ultron is killed, instead of being sent to an Earth that Loki took over, The Watcher sends Natasha to The MCU, where The Prime Earth Natasha is already deceased.
I think Natasha had some wasted character potential, so a variant taking her place would be a compromise. It wouldn't necessarily ruin her sacrifice in Avengers Endgame, since the variant is a separate character. They also did this with Loki and Gamora, so this would make the most sense.
This would set up a Black Widow sequel, where the variant Natasha would have to loosen up and adjust, since the Earth that she's displaced in, is not a complete apocalyptic hellhole.
Hawkeye:
The Plot: Hawkeye would stay mostly the same. My rewrite is very similar to TheMan5991's small rewrite. The link is placed here.
https://www.reddit.com/nandovmovies/comments/s7xuza/hawkeye_rewrite_spoilers/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button The only real change I'd make is during the final battle with The Kingpin and Kate Bishop in Episode 6. My main problem with Kingpin in the Hawkeye series is that he is both too weak and too strong at the same time.
Fisk is too strong because he is able to completely rip a door off its hinges and later gets full speed rammed by a car which, rather than killing him, cartoonishly knocks him through a window where he gets up with barely a scratch. In the Daredevil Netflix series, Kingpin was very strong, but he was still just a normal human being.
His main power came from the fact that he controlled everyone and everything around him. On the other hand, he is too weak in that he is able to be beaten by a college student with like a week of superhero experience. Yes, I know that Kate trained growing up, but up until the show started, she had never fought someone in a life-or-death situation. Especially not someone as dangerous as Wilson Fisk.
The fact that Kate Bishop beat him is supposed to be impressive (Clint says as much later on), but the action sequence felt less like a compliment to Kate’s abilities and more like an insult to Fisk’s threat level.
I want to fix these issues. So, here is my version of the events of Kate Bishop's fight with The Kingpin.
Eleanor gets in the car, tells the driver they need to find Kate, then realizes the driver has had his head crushed and he died. Fisk appears and calmly opens the door. Fisk still wears his Hawaiian suit. Kingpin tries one last time to convince Eleanor to continue her services for him. She refuses, knowing that continuing to work for Fisk would endanger her daughter.
(One of my favorite things about Netflix Kingpin was his simmering anger. He felt like he was moments away from decapitating a guy with a car door. I never felt that from his reappearance. I want that to come across in this conversation between Eleanor and Fisk)
While Eleanor is denying his offer, we see him slowly getting angrier until he finally breaks and grabs her by the throat, dragging her out of the car. He is holding her up by her neck when Kate arrives. As Eleanor struggles, Kate aims her bow at Fisk and yells "Get away from my mother", but he doesn’t even glance in her direction. She shoots him in the chest with an arrow, but as we learned in the Netflix series, all his suits are armored, so it doesn’t penetrate through. He looks over at her and Eleanor chokes out to Kate telling her to "run" before Kingpin snaps her neck, killing her.
Kate, in her rage, fires an explosive arrow directly at Kingpin, and Fisk immediately gets caught in the explosion, and gets sent flying through the building wall. Bishop entered the building through the wall, and tried to stop Fisk from leaving. Bishop shot a trap arrow at the gap in the building, causing electric wires to form over the hole, preventing Fisk's escape.
Kingpin became aggravated and began tossing Bishop around the room and pulverized her with his punches, leaving her bloodied, several broken ribs and defeated. Fisk pulled her quiver off of her back, pulling her arrows out, snapping them in half, and tossing them on the ground.
Kate, refusing to give up, and wanting revenge for what Fisk did to her mother, gets up, lunges towards Kingpin and tries to kick him. However, Fisk easily punched her in midair, sending her crashing into a window, cracking it. As Bishop sat on the ground, cornered by Fisk, she used his cufflink that she had picked up to flick and activate the head of one of her magnet arrows on the floor. The magnet arrows activate the nearby explosive arrows, causing an explosion that blows up the store, and Kate smashes and jumps out of the window that is behind her and she survives the blast.
(Now, obviously, Eleanor does not die in the actual series, but I told you there was an exception and I think this works better for two reasons. First, it gives Fisk the threatening presence that everyone has been talking about throughout the series with their comments about “the big guy”. This level of terror makes Clint’s comment about Kate surviving an encounter with him meaningful. Second, Eleanor dies in the comics as well and is later brought back as a vampire. With the Blade franchise coming up for the MCU, this leaves open the possibility of a return if they wanted to bring her character back. It also gives more character development for Kate, to overcome her grief of a loved one, similar to Spider-Man, or The Flash) Still wounded and burned following the explosion, Fisk painfully made his way through the streets of New York City, until his path was blocked by a car. As the car pulled up in front of him, Kingpin had then realized that the driver was Maya Lopez, as he breathed a sigh of relief, only for Lopez to grab her gun and point it directly at his head.
Fisk soon realized that Lopez had indeed learnt that Fisk had been responsible for her father's death at the hands of Ronin. Fisk then told Lopez that they were family, and that families did not always see eye to eye. Lopez responded by shooting him, causing Fisk to fall down, knocked out.
Kate eventually makes it back to Clint and the rest of the episode plays pretty much as is. It is, perhaps, a little more somber as Kate’s mother was murdered instead of simply going to jail, but that just gives her even more reason to go with Clint back to his farm. His family welcomes her in and their love for each other spreads to her and helps her recover.
Post Credit Scene: Laura Barton received her SHIELD watch from Clint, with her name and Agent 19 being engraved on it. However, Laura gets a call from Bobbi Morse, with a hologram of her picture.
Yes, the only addition I'd make is to have Clint and his wife have a mystery third woman, who Clint has been extremely close friends with in the past, and he still is intimate with both her and Laura. I'd reveal that woman to be Bobbi Morse, Mockingbird. The same character from Agents Of SHIELD.
This sets up Mockingbird returning as Hawkeye's new love interest in his hero-life, while his home life with Laura, and both women are friends and are more than alright with that.
They are literally sharing Hawkeye. Then again, Hawkeye was always a ladiesman or womanizer in the comics. Clint is still happily married to only two people. Bobbi is even an aunt to Clint and Laura's children, similar to how Black Widow was in that role, before she passed away in Endgame.
Not to mention, Agents Of SHIELD Season 2 mentioned that Hawkeye and Bobbi went on a few missions together, so it's implied that the two agents have some romantic history. Don't worry AoS fans, Lance and Bobbi are still really close friends and an iconic duo, just not lovers anymore.
Also, Lance Hunter will show up in a future SHIELD movie or Disney+ series. Along with Bobbi and Clint, I can also see a lot of jealousy ensuing.

2023.04.01 03:13 littleoldladyinashoe Idea for a future episode!
Bob and Linda have to drive a few hours out of town for a funeral the next day on short notice. They decide to close the restaurant for the day, and leave Tina in charge at home. Gene has an important school project to do, and Tina needs to make sure he gets it done.
Teddy comes over early in the morning and lets himself into the restaurant (he has a key from having recently done some plumbing work in the kitchen). He doesn't know about the funeral, and he doesn't know about the restaurant being closed for the day. He comes in and tries to wait patiently for Bob and Linda to come down and make him food.
Meanwhile, the kids wake up and read the note from their parents explaining about the last minute trip out of town. Louise and Gene sneak into the restaurant to play one of their games. They find Teddy in the restaurant and tell him the situation. Tina comes in looking for her siblings.
Suddenly, a large group of people wearing bike shorts and helmets comes pouring in to the restaurant. Tina attempts to explain that the restaurant is closed, but her voice is lost in the noise of the crowd. Louise pulls Tina, Gene and Teddy together and convinces them that they should serve the group in the hopes of collecting a big tip. She convinces Teddy that it's what Bob and Linda would want him to do, so he's all in. Teddy agrees to do the cooking.
Tina uses the emergency phone to text her friends for backup help, promising them tips.
Meanwhile another group of people are coming out of the store next to the restaurant (the place that's always changing). It's an art studio, and the group had been making sculptures of desserts and worked up a huge appetite. They notice the large crowd inside Bob's and decide that the place must be good, and they cram in to the restaurant. Teddy calls a friend and gets some folding tables and chairs delivered (inside and out on the sidewalk) to accommodate everyone.
Jimmy Jr arrives with his brothers, Zeke, Tammy, Jocelyn, and Rudy. They comedically struggle to perform various jobs in the restaurant, but they eventually get into a groove and they are able to handle everyone. More people trickle in because the restaurant looks like a hot spot. The kids are making tips hand over fist, so they remain motivated to kiss up to the customers and provide excellent service.
Gail shows up unexpectedly. Linda had called her and asked her to check in on the kids. She sees the crowded restaurant and gets confused. She also happens to be on a new medication, and Louise is able to easily convince Gail that Bob and Linda are there and it's a normal day at the restaurant. She puts Gail to work doing Gene's project.
At the end of the day, the kids are exhausted but they have huge stacks of money. Teddy is pleased with himself for having taken Bob's place for the day. Gail is sobering up from her medication, and starts asking questions. Louise convinces her that the whole day was a hallucination from the meds, and she should go home and get some sleep.
Teddy can't wait to tell Bob and Linda all about their profitable day. Louise is arguing with him that he shouldn't tell them anything because they were never supposed to open the restaurant. Tina, the voice of reason, points out that maybe Louise is right and they shouldnt say anything, because her parents have never had a more successful day and that could make them feel bad. Gene suggests they make a pact to take the secret to the grave. They make the pact, split up the money and close up the restaurant.
The last scene is Linda and Bob returning home to a dark apartment. They peek in on the kids, who are all asleep in bed. They discover "Gene's" project on the coffee table, and are perplexed because it's a solar system but it has cats all over it (because remember, Gail did the project while on her meds).
