No spoilers! Just that I LOVE spoilers and I read all the posts before I watch. It clues me into more of the details. Just watched the finale and I picked up on some of the things you all caught and saw others I did not see mentioned too much. Anyways, I’m SO sad to see Juliette go, she’s the reason I watched the pilot when it came out. Hoping to get more Elijah and Christina though! Not that it has anything at all to do with the show, but The Licks (Juliette’s band) has a song called Get Up. Here’s a lyric for y’all: So you got yourself a rock n roll band. And you're playing with the queen of hearts in your hand. And my father told me yeah you're the only one Who can shake up the midnight sky and bring it the sun….

2023.06.02 17:32 mrose9999 Sun protection- long sleeves or keep it breezy?
My baby is almost 7 months old! First summer here in New England. I wanna take him to the park, but it’s 80°F and very sunny. I’ll put sunscreen on him and a hat, but am I supposed to try to cover his skin with a long sleeved ‘beach shirt’ or should he be in like a tank top to stay cool? Wouldn’t a long sleeve make them overheat? I assume it’s okay at the beach because they can go in the water if too hot. But at the park he’s gonna be in direct sunlight for a few minutes at a time (there’s a pavilion for shade-breaks). Long sleeve or tank?

2023.06.02 17:30 Huckleberry-Hiker The Historic Circle Tours of Glacier National Park
Almost immediately after Glacier was established as a national park, Louis W. Hill, president of the Great Northern Railway, began building a series of hotels, chalets and tent camps throughout the park. The buildings were modeled on traditional Swiss architecture, and were part of Hill's strategy to portray Glacier as the "American Alps" or "America's Switzerland." The accommodations would in-turn help the railway promote tourism to the new national park, while at the same time promote their rail line as the primary mode of travel to the park. This would also allow them to compete against their chief rivals; the Canadian Pacific Railway and the Northern Pacific Railway, who were already transporting tourists to Banff and Yellowstone by that time.
The Belton Chalet in West Glacier, and the Glacier Park Lodge in East Glacier Park were the first two hotels to be constructed by Great Northern. Both acted as gateways from railroad depots to the interior of the park. Between 1910 and 1915 the railway also constructed eight Swiss-style backcountry chalet complexes, each connected by a network of trails. The complexes were strategically located at Two Medicine Lake, Cut Bank, St. Mary, Sun Point, Granite Park, Many Glacier, Gunsight Lake and Sperry Glacier. Tent camps were also established at Red Eagle Lake, Cosley Lake, Fifty Mountain and Goat Haunt. The chalet and tent camps were located roughly 10-18 miles apart. During their prime most of the chalet camps could host between 100 and 150 guests per night. Hill would explain to newspaper reporters that the “lodges would be located only far enough apart so that the man on foot even could make the trip and obtain sleeping accommodations,” and that “hotel accommodations of a more prestigious type or tents for the most modest could also be furnished.”
As construction on the new chalets progressed through the early 1910s, the railway also constructed the trails that would connect each of them by foot or horse travel. Because of a lack of federal funds, the Great Northern Railway assumed financial responsibility for all trail construction during this time period, but was eventually reimbursed as funding became available. Some of the earliest trails developed by the railway included Swiftcurrent Pass, Gunsight Pass, Mt. Henry, Red Gap Pass, Gable Pass, Triple Divide Pass, Piegan Pass, Pitamakan Pass and the St. Mary Lake trails. Many of these early trails were routed along Indian paths, prospector trails or old game trails. Great Northern would continue to improve or construct new trails within the park into the early 1920s. As the network of trails expanded, organized tours by horse concessionaires began to emerge. In 1915 the Park Saddle Horse Company became the sole concessionaire for the park, and began organizing a series of guided tours that utilized the existing network of chalets and trails. This included the North Circle, South Circle and Inside Trail trips, which encompassed roughly 163 miles of trails, each of which is now on the National Register of Historic Places. The company also offered the Logan Pass Triangle Trail trip, which traversed across the heart of the park utilizing routes from the other tours, as well as the now abandoned Logan Pass Trail. The concessionaire offered a variety of options, from half-day excursions to extended trips lasting up to two weeks. Most of the so-called circle tours, however, lasted between three and five days. During the 1920 season the company charged roughly $4.00 per person, per day to take one of its saddle-horse tours.
The park visitors that took these tours were “guided by ‘cowboys,’ lunched near glacial lakes and then dined in comfort on Chinese linen and blue willow china”. Park rules dictated that the Park Saddle Horse Company had to furnish at least one guide for each ten tourists on a trip. Parties could reach as large as 180 people and 200 horses. It’s estimated that the concessionaire used more than 1000 horses during its peak, with at least one source estimating as many as 1500 head of horses. The 1922 park brochure bragged that there were "more saddle horses used in Glacier than in any other similar recreational area in the world". From everything I’ve read that record has never been surpassed.
The saddle-horse tours were the dominant method of seeing the park until the Going-to-the-Sun Road was completed in 1933. Although the tours continued for another ten seasons, they came to a permanent end after the 1942 season when America became fully involved in World War II.

2023.06.02 17:29 Quetzhal DIE. RESPAWN. REPEAT. 42
Chapter 1 Prev Next
I act quickly. There are puddles of color rising all around us into oozing monsters — it's almost disorienting. They're the only sources of color all around me. There's a heavy, thickset ooze-creature a few steps ahead made of a deep, mauve sort of purple, the same purple that tints the wood of the Hestian trees; there are whip-thin creatures that are barely humanoid, with stringlike arms and legs made of all the different shades of fall. The forest detritus combines into a muddy brown, creating bloblike creatures on the ground that stretch themselves to move forward, leaving flickering trails of brown Firmament that fade into nothing.
And that's only a small fraction of the creatures that are starting to appear. Fighting all of them almost seems like a pointless task, one that will tire me out needlessly, but I remind myself that I need to fight. If beating one of them grants me credits...
"We should find out if Naru is still here," Ahkelios says. He's noticed the way my fists have clenched. "Don't touch them directly. You'll need a weapon."
I don't have one — I didn't bring the scythe with me this loop. I glance around and pluck a small branch off the ground, sending a burst of Firmament into it to reinforce it; it's a minor imbuement with no anchor or enhancement, but that doesn't matter. I only need it to last as long as I'm in the Hotspot.
"Just checking," I say. "What's going to happen to me if they touch me directly?"
Ahkelios shudders a bit. "They eat your color," he says. "It's not fun, trust me."
That's vague, but considering that I've seen what happens when I use Color Drain, I'm willing to take that at face value.
Short term plan: Go straight for the obelisk. Kill any of the color-oozes in my way. If Naru's still here, we deal with him; if not, we use the translation stone on the obelisk, and see if these oozes are worth killing. If I get enough credits for killing them...
"Ready?" I ask Ahkelios, and he nods.
Triplestep. Firestep. I'm still not used to how
fast that combination of skills makes me. Mental Acceleration makes it easy to handle, but it's still so much faster than I've ever been able to run. The ground flies beneath my feet, and in no time at all I'm in front of my first target.
Crystallized Strength.
The sharp pain of crystallization runs all the way up along my arm as I concentrate the Firmament there. This time, I don't bother with a Barrier — I have the stick I'm holding to take the brunt of the blow. I swing the stick as I dart past the thick purple ooze, injecting another spike of Firmament into it to make sure it doesn't shatter—
—the ooze takes damage. I can feel it; the Firmament within it gets jumbled up for a fraction of a second, and it
flinches, its entire body shuddering.
And then the ooze grips the stick I'm using, its flesh clinging on like glue, and yanks it out of my hand.
I don't waste time. I let go of the stick before the ooze can cover my hand and grab a handful of dirt off the ground, haphazardly forcing Firmament into it before lobbing it as hard as I can. Crystallized Strength together with that brief reinforcement keeps the clump of dirt together as it rockets towards the ooze.
It
thunks into the center of its chest, and the whole thing staggers back, leaving chunks of purple behind on the ground. Strings of purple lash out from its fingertips, arcing through the air towards me, and I twist out of the way of them just in time. They're sharper than they look, considering how they pierce straight through the trees behind me.
Mental Acceleration is working overtime. As large as this monster is, it's fast and flexible, and it doesn't bother following any of the laws of physics. It's freely able to change its shape, so it isn't
limited the way most humanoid fighters are...
...Wait. I'm an idiot.
Color Drain.
I know exactly what color to drain from it, too, because the whole ooze is composed of just the one color. I feel it resist the effects of the skill — it's good at resisting it, too, and it forces Color Drain to consume far more Firmament than it would otherwise just to leech all of that purple out of it — but it does
work.
The purple is dragged out, and unlike most of my other enemies, this time, the ooze simply collapses.
[ You have defeated a Forest Slime (Rank D)! +7 Strength. +3 Reflex. +3 Speed. +2 Firmament. ] The confirmation that they give me credits is a joy. I grin fiercely.
I'm going to have to fight my way to the obelisk, but at least it's going to be
fun.
—
Losing myself in combat is a pastime that never gets old.
Not that I do it all that often, of course. It's not every day that an apocalypse is visited on Earth. But there's a small part of me that revels in fighting like this, in having to battle it out for my life; there's a part of the experience that's almost meditative.
Drop the translation stone. Swing. Dodge. Pick up a bunch of rocks off the ground, and imbue them with Firmament; toss them with enough force to make a bunch of holes in the slime you're fighting.
[ You have defeated a Forest Slime (Rank D)! +3 Strength credits. +3 Reflex credits. + 2 Firmament credits. ] The credit rewards get lower the more of them I beat, but there's enough of them that that doesn't matter.
"Behind you!" Ahkelios calls. He darts away from me as a distraction, a bright source of light and Firmament, and I use the moment of distraction to enact another Color Drain.
[ You have defeated a Forest Slime (Rank D)! +4 Strength credits. +1 Durability credits. +2 Speed credits. + 2 Firmament credits. ] A Barrier blocks off a blob of slime that gets lobbed at me — I notice it too late to dodge, so I react the only way I can. The liquid slime splashes onto the Firmament barrier and smears itself across it, then starts to eat
into the Firmament.
Something about the sight creeps me out. I shudder slightly, and turn my attention to the slime that threw it at me.
It's a bright neon-green. I don't know where it got its color from — I've never seen this particular color in the Hestian forest. The monster itself is a spiderlike slime, with eight spindly legs emerging from a central, wobbly body; on top of its head is a horn it seems to be using to launch the slime balls at me. I dart towards it, and this time I don't bother grabbing a stick.
Barrier.
I shape the Barrier as it forms, using Firmament Manipulation and my natural ability to control my Firmament to guide it into the vague shape of a knife. I keep a protective film around my hand so none of that ooze gets
on me, and I swipe it straight through its head, even as it tries to dodge.
[ You have defeated a Forest Slime (Rank D)! +1 Strength credits. +5 Reflex credits. +2 Speed credits. +2 Firmament credits. ] It's nice that the number of Firmament credits I'm getting isn't going down. I'm making good progress, too — the obelisk is almost in sight, and most of the slimes aren't actively targeting me. I have to get within a few meters of them for them to even notice me, which makes avoiding them... not easy, exactly, but doable.
The problems mostly happen when I have to maneuver a lot to fight one of them and inevitably end up drawing more. Barrier is my friend in those cases, though. Barrier and Color Drain.
[ You have defeated a Forest Slime (Rank D)! +5 Durability credits. +2 Reflex credits. +2 Firmament credits. ] [ You have defeated a Forest Slime (Rank D)! +2 Durability credits. +1 Reflex credit. +2 Firmament credits. ] And then the obelisk is in sight. The translation stone is back under my arm, still emitting those waves of Firmament that make this Hotspot so much more dangerous — but I suppose that's the point. I wonder how Ahkelios ever found out that he needed the stone for this Hotspot in particular. Was it just luck? Had he just been carrying the stone around because it interested him?
I could see him doing that, somehow.
There's no sign of Naru. I'm almost surprised by how relieved that makes me feel, although I know I'm not exactly out of the woods — Naru might very well only appear after the Hotspot is activated by someone entering it. Given that I haven't sensed him so far and I've been fighting for a solid half-hour, though, I imagine it's unlikely that he'll show up.
Now to time myself carefully.
The Firmament pulses are coming in thirty seconds apart. I can dart in with plenty of time to spare, but I need to leave the translation stone there to start the translation process; I have to assume the stone will be undamaged by the Firmament waves emitted by the obelisk, unless the process takes less than thirty seconds.
...Or maybe I should test it first. Just in case.
I let the corner of the stone brush against one of the Firmament pulses from the obelisk. Thankfully, it seems entirely undamaged, and I breathe a sigh of relief, then steady myself and prepare to
run.
Twenty-nine... thirty! I activate both Triplestep and Firestep, leaving a trail of Firmament flame in my wake as I dash towards the obelisk. As I get closer, I can make out the runic inscriptions that must be the so-called 'ancient language'. I don't waste time trying to decipher it myself — instead, I touch the translation stone to one of the runes, pausing just long enough to make sure the Firmament circle has begun to fill out. Then I leave it there, still touching the obelisk, and dart back as fast as possible.
And now... to wait.
While fighting off more of these Forest Slimes, because they're back, and they're back in full force.
Chapter 1 Prev Next
Author's Note: A bit of a bridge chapter, but a lot of stuff is coming up soon. Consider this a cooldown, but like, with a bunch of punching.
Writing is going a lot more smoothly now that I'm doing it full-time. My back is still giving me issues and it's a little scary financially, but I'm pretty sure I've got this. Still really appreciate everyone for reading and commenting (I am very slow at checking them because anxiety, but I do check them, and usually fix things, even if I forget to directly respond).
Here's the standard Patreon and RoyalRoad links. Patreon is up to chapter 48, and should hit 51 by the end of the weekend.
Also a friend of mine debuted her novel on RR - The Roads Unseen. It's a story about twins who fuck around with magic and very rapidly find out. Very cool and vaguely existentially terrifying. If you're interested, check it out - I'm trying to help her out since she's not very confident in her writing (she is in fact very good).

2023.06.02 17:24 disciplesglobal MARTYRS AND OVERCOMERS
Two themes that are repeated in
Revelation are closely related - “
witness” and “
overcoming.” Beginning with Jesus of Nazareth and his own martyrdom on Calvary, his followers are summoned to persevere in his “
testimony,” and in this way, they “
overcome” and they will emerge victorious in the city of “
New Jerusalem.” They must “
overcome, even as I overcame.”
Jesus is presented to the “
seven churches of Asia” as the “
FAITHFUL WITNESS, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.”
By “
faithful witness” is meant the “
testimony” he gave in his sacrificial death. His shed blood “
freed us from our sins and made a kingdom, priests for his God.” And now, he is the “
first and the last” who possesses authority even over “
death and Hades.” As he declared to John - “
I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore” – (Revelation 1:5, 1:18).
The Greek term rendered “
witness” in English is ‘
martur,’ the term from which the English noun ‘martyr’ is derived. In secular Greek, it is used for a “
witness,” especially one who gives testimony in a legal proceeding.
TESTIMONY OF JESUS
By the first century, the term may not have assumed the full sense of “martyr,” but as applied in
Revelation, it certainly approaches it. The “
saints” who give “
testimony” for Jesus pay the consequences for doing so (
Strong’s - #
G3144).
Similarly, John is introduced as one who “
bore WITNESS of the word of God and of the TESTIMONY of Jesus.” And so, he found himself banished to Patmos “
on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.”
And here, the term “word of God” is synonymous with the “testimony of Jesus.” And it is not just any testimony, but the “testimony” about Jesus that placed the Apostle in personal jeopardy.
The English term “
testimony” translates the Greek noun ‘
martyria,’ meaning “testimony, witness.” It is closely related to the term ‘
martur’ and refers to the “
testimony” given by a “
witness.”
While John may not have given his life for his “
testimony,” he certainly paid a heavy price by losing his freedom and legal rights. But he was by no means the first or the last disciple of Jesus to do so.
Previously, in the city of Pergamos, the saint named Antipas was “
killed among you, where Satan dwells.” In his letter to the congregation, Jesus calls him “
my FAITHFUL WITNESS [
martyr],” the same term applied to Jesus in the book’s prologue – (Revelation 2:13).
When the fifth seal is opened, John sees the souls of saints who were “
slain for the word of God, and for the TESTIMONY [martyria] which they held,” just as he was exiled because of his “
witness” for the “
word of God” and the “
testimony of Jesus” – (Revelation 6:9-11).
In Chapter 12, having failed to destroy the “
woman clothed with the sun” or her “
son,” the enraged “
Dragon” set out to “
wage war with the rest of her seed, those that keep the commandments of God and have the TESTIMONY of Jesus.”
Once again, saints are killed for the “
testimony of Jesus.” And Satan is not alone in his vendetta. Later, the “
great harlot, Babylon” is seen “
drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the WITNESSES [
martyrs]
of Jesus.” – (Revelation 12:17, 17:6).
At the commencement of the “
thousand years,” judgment is made on behalf of the saints who were “
beheaded for the TESTIMONY of Jesus and the word of God, and have not worshipped the Beast.”
Once more, the “
word of God” and the “
testimony of Jesus” are paired. That the “
witnesses” are killed is beyond doubt, as is the reason for it. But now, added to the list is their refusal to render homage to the “
Beast from the sea” - (Revelation 20:4).
OVERCOME
Not only is Jesus the “
faithful witness,” he is the first one who “
overcame.” In Chapter 5, John weeps bitterly because no one is found who is “
worthy” to open the “
scroll sealed with seven seals.” That is until he
hears one of the “
twenty-four elders” command him to “
weep not, for the lion of the tribe of Judah has OVERCOME to open the scroll.”
When he looks, instead of the “
lion” he sees the “
Lamb as having been slain.” That is, Jesus “
overcame” and qualified to open the “
sealed scroll” through his sacrificial death – (Revelation 5:5-6).
At the end of each of the seven letters in chapters 2 and 3, the reader finds promises made to the “
one who OVERCOMES.” That saint will “
eat of the tree of life in the Paradise of God,” not be harmed by the “
second death,” eat of the “
hidden manna,” receive authority over the nations, not have his name “
blotted out of the book of life,” become a “
pillar” in the sanctuary in “
New Jerusalem,” and sit with Jesus on “
my Father’s throne.”
The churches of Asia “
overcome” by rejecting the deceptions of the “
false apostles,” the “
Nicolaitans,” the “
teachings of Balaam,” and “
Jezebel, who taught my servants to eat meat offered to idols.”
“Overcoming” believers persevere through tribulations, bear faithful “witness,” and refuse to compromise with the surrounding pagan society even if doing so means their impoverishment and death.
Most critically, the saints “
overcome” by refusing to render homage to the “
Beast” or its image, and by not taking its “
mark” or “
number” even though the “
False Prophet” causes those who refuse to do so to be put to death - (Revelation 15:2).
Likewise, at the start of the “
thousand years,” “
judgment is given” on behalf of the saints because they suffer martyrdom for their “
testimony,” and because they refuse the “
mark of the Beast.”
Finally, after the “
Dragon” is expelled from heaven, a voice declares that the “
brethren overcame” him by the “
blood of the Lamb, by the WORD OF THEIR TESTIMONY, and because they loved not their lives unto death” - (Revelation 12:11).
FAITHFUL UNTO DEATH
Thus, giving “
faithful testimony” and “
overcoming” Satan are two sides of the same coin. Put another way, bearing faithful “
witness” is
how the persevering saint “
overcomes” the “
Dragon.”
This does not mean every saint must die a martyr’s death. While John suffered banishment for the “
testimony of Jesus,” he was not executed, at least, not in the account recorded in the book.
And in the province of Asia, some believers suffered “imprisonment,” and others were accused falsely by members of the “
synagogue of Satan.” Not every member of each congregation experienced martyrdom. Regardless, Jesus exhorted the churches to be “
faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.”
The last clause provides the key for how believers “
overcome” – “
FAITHFULNESS UNTO DEATH.” Likewise, the brethren “
overcome” the “
Dragon” because they do not “
love their lives unto death.” It is that level of allegiance to Jesus that separates “
overcomers” from those who “
eat meat offered to idols.”
Thus, to “
overcome” the saint must persevere in his or her “
witness” for Jesus even in times of persecution and whatever the personal consequences of giving his or her testimony might be.

Episode 3: "Unraveling Nightmares" [Scene: Squidward's House] Detective Reynolds visits Squidward's house, searching for any clues that might shed light on the mysterious events. In the dead of night, he experiences a chilling encounter with the same shadowy figure, its presence suffusing the air with an overwhelming sense of dread. Patrick, his mind plagued by fragmented memories, provides crucial details about their fateful trip to Jellyfish Fields on June 19th. Detective Reynolds: (intense) June 19th... There must be something significant about that day. I need to dig deeper, find the missing pieces of this puzzle. Episode 5: "Into the Abyss" [Scene: Jellyfish Fields] Detective Reynolds ventures into Jellyfish Fields, retracing SpongeBob and Plankton's steps from that ominous day. In the vast expanse of the field, shadows twist and dance, mocking his presence. The shadowy figure stalks him, its presence becoming increasingly palpable. Detective Reynolds: (determined) I won't let fear consume me. I must confront the shadow man, face the darkness head-on, and unveil the truth. Episode 6: "A Revelation in Shadows" [Scene: Final Showdown] Detective Reynolds confronts the shadow man in a harrowing showdown. The battle is fierce, with the investigator's resolve tested to its limits. Through sheer determination and a newfound understanding, he discovers the shadow man's true nature—a manifestation of fear and despair. Detective Reynolds: (defiantly) You can't control us anymore! We won't let darkness define us! In a burst of light, the shadow man dissolves into nothingness, leaving Detective Reynolds with a newfound sense of closure. Episode 7: "Into the Light" [Scene: Resolution] Detective Reynolds gathers the evidence, piecing together the fragments of the investigation. His findings reveal a chain of events orchestrated by the shadow man, leading to SpongeBob and Plankton's comas. With the truth finally uncovered, SpongeBob and Plankton awaken from their long slumber, greeted by the relieved faces of their friends and family. Detective Reynolds: (smiling) It's over. The nightmare is finally over. As Bikini Bottom begins to heal, Detective Reynolds reflects on the power of unity and the strength found in facing one's fears. The shadow man may have left its mark, but the light of hope prevails. [Closing scene: Detective Reynolds, looking out over Bikini Bottom, the sun shining brightly overhead] Detective Reynolds: (narrating) In the face of darkness, we found the strength to rise. And as long as we stand together, no shadow can ever truly extinguish our light. 2023.06.02 17:19 V1zkus My iPad has an audio problem. Anyone know what’s going on or what to do?
So l've had reoccurring issues with the audio on my iPad. On certain apps the audio works perfectly fine. In my files and gallery the sound is working. Youtube can blast as loud as it wants, same for YTmusic and Spotify. Fucking CapCut has audio. However, on safari doesn't have audio unless its a YouTube video. Discord has audio, FlipaClip (animation app) has audio but when i try to playback an animation in clip studio (a digital art studio), its silent. Games dont have audio either. Ive checked my settings and I've looked things up online but i cant find anything. My iPad just is super selective about what apps it will allow to play audio. From the looks of it, anything that isn't an "app" (or anything apple considers to be a game) does not have audio. But hold on ‘cause here’s the kicker; all of the issues go away when headphones are connected. When i wear headphones i can hear everything. All apps have audio and it's as if the problem doesn't exist. However i cant wear my headphones anymore because they snapped in half. Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone had this problem too? If so, how did you fix it? Did you fix it? I need help.

2023.06.02 17:18 Detanimulli Ideas for secondary career path
I’m a full time paid firefighter-paramedic on a 24/48 schedule and currently halfway through my accounting program at WGU. I’ve hit a crossroads because when I started the program, remote work was more prevalent nationwide but that appears to be back tracking to a more hybrid/more in office setting in some fields with accounting being one of the main careers seeing this (I’m not currently working in finance so I can’t say with certainty, but just from reading and job searching it appears so). I chose finance cause I like trading stocks but nothing really piques my interest like medical and running into burning buildings, so I’m not looking for some mind blowing second career, I’m okay with boring as long as it is typically flexible.
The point of this post is to get some input on whether switching to cybersecurity or another IT major would help accomplish my current goal of having a flexible secondary career; for those not familiar with the fire schedule, we’re typically allotted enough time in our work life balance to manage two careers, businesses, etc. I’ve been a firefighteparamedic for 10 years and I make good money for my area so steady income/lower (not low) barrier of entry are more important over peak careeincome advancement for my secondary career.
I’ve done physically demanding side quest away from the station but after a couple close calls including somebody driving through our emergency scene and clipping my engine door as I was exiting, I realize maybe something that doesn’t require me to be as active physically is a good route to seek in case I get handicapped or just worn down, hence why I landed on accounting but circling back to my original dilemma, I need something that tends to allow for more flexibility in scheduling. I can technically work a 40+ hour work week at my second career but I need a field were upper management will tend to be more flexible with the right person.
Do you guys have any advice or are there any graduates who have made it into their respective fields and are surprised by the amount of positions with a flexible balance?
I’m currently looking at cybersecurity as I’ve always been a computer kid since the days my mom taught me how to fire up Lego Island on DOS when I was 6. I’ve just never delved into it formally despite being somewhat competent and tinkering with tech all my life.
The opposite side is continuing to finish my accounting degree at WGU but having the thought in the back of my mind that I’m not going to have the flexibility like I once perceived.

2023.06.02 17:17 Kittylover11 Tongue ties and “bodywork”
I just had my second baby, he is severely tied like my first. My first’s tongue was basically fused down. Neither were able to transfer milk. I was somewhat skeptical of tongue ties causing so many issues until we went through it all with my first and also found my husband was never released. He had his tongue tie clipped as a toddler due to speech issues but it didn’t address the tight frenulum. He had his released last year after discovering the tension caused a neck posture that compressed a disc leading to degenerative disc disease (among many other issues!) This is seen in his X-ray before and after (he no longer has compression, has a better posture and no more debilitating pain from bulging disc.) needless to say, I now recognize the issues they can cause.
While I believe in ties, I’m still really skeptical about “bodywork”. Like most of Reddit, I’m super anti chiropractor… With my first we had a really rocky journey through Kaiser. Our ped/lactation consultant did refer us to an OT for feeding therapy as they noticed issues with coordination. I also went outside of Kaiser to an IBCLC because I wasn’t getting any help from the Kaiser LCs. She was adamant we do “bodywork” pre and post release. Because I was willing to try everything to get past triple feeding/constant pumping, we took him to a local chiropractic office to see a woman that specializes in bodywork for infants with tongue ties. Needless to say, I’m not convinced her light touches for 2 minutes a handful of times did anything. So for this baby I opted to just see an OT.
We just had an appointment with the new OT at Kaiser for baby #2 and she shared she has a tongue tie she’s looking to get released. She’s going through the same process my husband went through which involves myofunctional therapy. This makes sense to me because an adult can do the exercises to strengthen muscles. It’s basically physical therapy. When I asked her about “bodywork” I was hoping she’d be on the same page about it being somewhat of a scam. My SIL is a PT and they seem to be very anti chiro/“bodywork”.
I really don’t know what to believe. I guess I do believe the ties cause tension. But I’m not sure “bodywork” really releases that tension. I’d argue the procedure to clip the tie releases that tension?
I’ve searched the sub for this topic and saw mixed results. In the tongue tie support group on FB everyone is screaming about the importance of “bodywork” but it seems they confuse it with physical therapy type exercises, and of course it’s a crazy fb mom group.
I know there isn’t a ton of research on ties… but is there any evidence anywhere on releasing tension in infants with ties?

2023.06.02 17:16 Agstroh Anyone satisfied with their short-length awning solution?
We've been looking to improve our shade while camping but haven't found a solution we love. We have a truck but no topper, so no long length to connect an awning to. We typically do not have crossbars or a roof rack above the cab (although that might be the best option, just don't love mounting it for only an awning). We are nervous the shorter awning also won't provide a ton of shade depending on the sun angle. So the solutions we are looking at are:
- Rhino Rack dome awning - this would be mounted on our bed crossbars, and hope that the arc gives us enough space underneath
- Add rack to the top of the cab, and use a 5' shade, but might be a small area
- Shade solution totally separate from the truck - there are some options (soccer game style) but they take up a lot of space and are heavy
Anyone in a similar situation have a shade solution they enjoy? Anyone try that rhino rack one?

2023.06.02 17:16 Character_Ad_2257 Don’t like the line work
I got this done as a start to getting a half sleeve. It’s a matching tattoo with my mom so I didn’t pick the artist. 1.5 years later and I hate how it healed. My mom got hers done before me and got color and it looked good but my black doesn’t. Its over-shaded in some areas and completely fading in others. I wanted thin line work ( last picture is what I want eventually) and I regret not going to an artist I looked up beforehand. I do love the location and the love the sunflower. I was wondering if I do touch up the tattoo and go for the half sleeve would it look out of place with what I want to get or I should I touch this one up and do the half sleeve on my other arm? I’m still in the process of looking for an artist I love I was just trying to plan ahead. Thank you! submitted by Character_Ad_2257 to tattooadvice [link] [comments]
2023.06.02 17:15 mrsfinchthesparrow Questions about bonding with my cockatiel, Petey. Picture of him enjoying the birds outside for tax.
This might be all over the place, haha. I took an edible and am having serious bird thoughts. Sorry, I didn’t mean to get so sentimental about my bird and write a novel. I love this bird so much. He’s my absolute favorite — just full of so much spice and hilarious. While I desperately want him to step up and hang out on my shoulder, I’m also aware that he may never get to that point (or it can take years). I just want him to have the best life he can full of all the love. Do birds like eye contact? Petey and I are having the best conversation full of eye contact. Speaking of conversations — We’re engaging in a fun conversation. Like back and forth banter. I’ll make kissy noises then say pretty bird or something. When I’m done he’ll chatter back a few things, stop chattering while I respond, then chatter back, rinse and repeat. Is this something birds actually enjoy? Is it a sign that he actually likes my presence? He’s beak grinding during a lot of this. Do you guys talk to your birds about the goings on of the house? While we were talking, the garbage truck came and he quieted down. I assumed he was wondering what the noise was, so I told him, “It’s the garbage truck, Pete!” I know he doesn’t know what a garbage truck is, but I thought maybe giving him a word for the noise would make it something he knows? Does that make any sense? Petey is a little over a year old. I purchased him in February from PetCo. I’d been visiting him for months when my wife mentioned that I’d spent more money visiting him than I would have if I’d just bought him. He’s terrified of hands, but overall I’d say that he does enjoy my presence. He will let me get close to him and give him kisses, but he freaks out over hands. We’re working on recall training to help overcome his fear of hands. It’s been a very slow process because he will randomly become scared of the chopstick. I try to give him a few days break, then try again. Sometimes he is still scared, but most of the time he isn’t. We keep training sessions short (2-5 minutes) so that we can end on a good note. I’m home all day with Petey and he’s out of his cage for roughly 10 hours. His wings aren’t clipped, so he gets to zoom around as he pleases. In the beginning, his wings were clipped and I stupidly would force him out to hang out on my shoulder. That went on until late April. One day I realized that I wasn’t going to force him to love me, and even if I did, it wasn’t going to be a genuine friendship. I wanted him to make the choice to come to me. I stopped forcing him out of the cage and just let him exist in the house without me forcing interaction that likely scared him. We’ve made great progress with him accepting my presence. I can stand by him and kiss his crest if my hands are tucked away. We’ve had a few bad interactions lately. He’s molting and experiencing birdie hormones. He decided his foraging box was a great place for a nest and would not go back to his cage for bedtime. I’ve had to catch him to get him away from his nest (it’s since been removed). I burritoed him one of those times to clip his nails. I also decided I’d help him with his pin feathers. He enjoyed the scritches a lot and went from biting me to trying to fall asleep. He’s definitely holding a grudge about those interactions. submitted by mrsfinchthesparrow to parrots [link] [comments]
2023.06.02 17:15 resonantedomain Dall-E prompt using ChatGPT: Monkeys storming Ravana's palace from Ramayana
Used ChatGPT Free to generate a prompt to make a more realistic looking scene and this is what I got. Something far more intricate than I was expecting, I imagine if I used photoshop to touch up the uncanny valley parts it might look pretty sweet: Wonderful! Based on your detailed description, here's a prompt for DALL-E that aims to generate an ultrarealistic depiction of the scene where the monkey army storms the palace in the Ramayana: "Create an ultrarealistic and visually stunning poster-like image of the Ramayana scene where the monkey army storms the palace. The setting is a bright sunny day with HDR-style clouds, with the sun positioned at a 45-degree angle to cast dramatic lighting. The palace is constructed with popular stone materials of the time and features intricate gold trim dedicated to Ravana. The palace pillars and columns have unique forms that accentuate the composition. The monkey army should be depicted in a more supernatural manner, resembling the energy of the monkey from Aladdin. They wear colorful garbs that symbolize their place in the hierarchy/nature of Brahma and carry weapons. They are shown leaping, running, and swinging from trees and walls. Hanuman, centrally positioned and larger than the rest, should be depicted in a superhero posture, representing the wind god. Some monkeys are shown leaping from trees into the plaza from above the walls. The atmosphere should convey beauty and excitement. There should be a 45-degree sunlight casting godrays and volumetric dust clouds, along with beautiful cloud coverings. In the background, smoke can be present, adding to the sense of the ongoing battle. Hanuman should be at the center of the composition, similar to an "A" framed composition from the Army of Darkness poster. The monkey army engages in defensive measures while launching a surprise attack. Ravana should be depicted on his throne, and Sita should be shown held captive nearby. Ensure the final image portrays ultrarealism, capturing the details, energy, and grandeur of the scene, while maintaining the balance between the mundane presence of natural sunlight and the excitement of the moment." This prompt should provide a detailed guideline for DALL-E to generate a visually striking and ultrarealistic depiction of the Ramayana scene you described, with attention to composition, lighting, character poses, and atmospheric elements. submitted by resonantedomain to ChatGPT [link] [comments]
