What is this dangly bit 2005 WRX w/ STi 2.5 engine?
I’ve been looking for what this little tube is. I’ve seen some diagrams showing it should be capped while photos of other engines from the same generation has a hose leading down and out of frame. While at idle, I cover it with my finger and the idle becomes more stable and consistent.
So my question is: what is it? Should it be connected to something?
Full disclosure: this is a bought not built vehicle with more mods than I can count. I have learned my lesson and have been playing catch up since.

2023.06.02 17:28 CiberX15 32 [M4F] PA / EST - Looking for a fellow gamer nerd to game with, run obstacle races, and fall in love with 🤓😁

Please read this whole summary before replying! 😆 😅 I’m looking for something real and I’ve put as much information here as I can so you can be at least halfway informed before reaching out. 😆😃
I am 32 years old, living in York PA. I look like this:

https://imgur.com/6FOCfUc
https://imgur.com/hry0tl3
Oh and at ren fair…

I’m looking for a long term relationship that can hopefully lead to a legal union (because the "m" word is banned?), but I don’t want to rush to get there. I’m looking for a long term relationship, a deep connection with one woman.
I like cuddling and want to find someone who enjoys snuggling up together just as much as I do. I’m also doing the whole abstinence thing so I won’t have sex before a legal union. I do want a physical relationship, but I am saving that last level of intimacy and emotional connection for a a legal union level commitment. 🙃🙂
As for what I’m doing with my life, I’ve always had a deep passion for gaming, so when I grew up, rather than growing out of it, I doubled down and made game development my career! I got my bachelors degree in game design, then worked for seven years at a mobile games studio. In that time I paid off my car, all of my student debt, then I took a leap of faith, quit my job, and started my own tiny two man VR game studio, which is what I am doing now! 😎😁
Optimally I’d like to find a partner who shares my passion for PC gaming, especially survival crafting, VR, or RTS games. It’s where I spend a lot of time, both as my career and my primary hobby. So I’m seeking out matches who have similar interests, since it’s a major part of my personality.🤓
I think it’s great for partners to have their own separate interests 😃 but I want to be able to share at least one or two passions with my romantic partner, so if not gaming, we’d probably still be a great match if you have a love for Dungeons & Dragons, Martial arts, Fighting with Foam Swords, Parkour, Obstacle Races (Rugged Maniac), or Talking about Philosophy, Super Heroes, and Plot Holes.
To a lesser degree I also enjoy movies, theater, acting, anime, CGI, roller coasters, reading, crafting and DIY, so I could definitely get into them if they are things you are passionate about.😁
I want to avoid a long distance relationship, but I’m happy to drive up to 2 hours for dates. Further for fellow PC gamers, since we could hang out and get to know each other virtually, so long as we were still within practical driving range so we could see each other in person if things progress that far.
Other details about me:
-My personality type is INFP-A
-I enjoy reading and writing essay length replies, and deep conversation in general, and I look for the same in my matches 😄
-I like the cold 😁
-I am a nerd, and find nerdiness very attractive😉
-I try to avoid using foul language
-Not fond of crude humor
-My love languages are physical touch and quality time, with a little bit of words of affirmation
-I was diagnosed with ADHD as a child and have always considered it a super power rather than a disability 😎
-I can play drums and guitar by ear
-I enjoy sports and games with few if any rules: mud runs, rock climbing, parkour, trampoline parks, Minecraft, Risk, Paintball, etc.
-My media tastes tend to lean towards action, sci-fi, and fantasy: MCU, Star Wars, Disney, Pixar, some anime, etc.
So yeah! If you’re interested, shoot me a message! Please include a picture or two with your response! I won’t respond to replies without one.
I’ve included pictures of myself at the top of this profile, and I want to verify there is mutual attraction before getting too deep into conversation. Physical attraction is by no means the most important part of a relationship to me, I consider shared values and interests far more critical, but I do think it’s an important component of a romantic relationship.
Also if you don’t have a similar post up for me to look at please write a brief summary about yourself and what you’re looking for. I’m unlikely to respond if I can’t determine if you are a real human or not. 😅

2023.06.02 17:26 HotcakeNinja Neurodivergence and IBS: A Rant

I had been suffering with gut problems for the past 6 months; I genuinely felt like I was going to die on several occasions. an IBS diagnosis was on the table. Somewhere along the way, I learned that there is a correlation between IBS and neurodivergence (specifically ASD/ADHD) for some reason.
Out of necessity, I became fixated on what seemed like the boundary of human medical knowledge: Nobody knows what causes IBS, and even the name (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) is just a description of the symptoms. I made an appointment with a gastroenterologist and until my appointment, I continued looking for answers. I learned of some conditions that could at least be ruled out with a breath test, and I tried not to get too optimistic, but my symptoms aligned better with Intestinal Methanogen Overgrowth (IMO). The GI specialist wanted to do thousands of dollars (USA) of tests, invasive scoping, and wouldn’t accept that I had already done a urinalysis and blood test that had come back normal. “Well, I don’t have access to those results,” to which I offered to acquire said results. “Well, I’m looking for different things than your family doctor was looking for.”
After interrupting me, dismissing my concerns, and rattling off the list of procedures she wanted me to schedule and pay for, she said “Does that sound good?” I told her I was hoping for something less invasive to maybe rule out some things first. “What did you have in mind?” In hindsight, I realize this may have been her way of telling me that I’m not a doctor, but at the time I thought it was an invitation to make suggestions. I suggested a breath test and told her that the symptoms of IMO lined up with what I was experiencing. “Oh, you’ve been seeing Dr. Google, haven’t you?” After some rationalization for my behaviour and reiterating my concerns she said “I’m not convinced,” and refused to order the breath test.
I ordered it myself. I tested positive for IMO. The prescription was $2K but only $100 if I could wait 7 weeks to get it from Canada (mostly being held in customs). While waiting I studied methanogens, what they eat, how to kill them naturally, and even found a naturopath’s treatment plan for IMO using a clinically proven (I read the study) $40 supplement I could get in 2 days. Also, the prescription drug I’m still waiting on sometimes causes permanent hearing loss. I’m nearly done with the regimen, and I’m 100% better.
Not wanting to relapse, I wanted to know what causes IMO, and the thing I think that did it for me was eating frequently and/or eating small amounts which I attribute to food avoidance and interoception deficiency associated with neurodivergence. Additionally, an estimated 70% of IBS cases are actually SIBO/IMO.
This could have easily ended in an IBS diagnosis, which is a condemnation to just suffer. I hate doctors, I hate capitalism, and if you have IBS but haven’t done a breath test, do it!
Thank you for your time.

2023.06.02 17:26 Dink_Jinkle How Do I Fix This?

How Do I Fix This?
I recently purchased a handful of cassette tapes for 25¢ each. We’ve played two so far, the first one was warbling but the second one was fine, and now this one was fast forward past a certain point. I grabbed a pencil to turn the gears to see if I could visually identify the problem and I think I found it. Any advice on how I might go about fixing this?

2023.06.02 17:25 Crazy_War_8847 Passed FE Electrical & Computer on my 1st attempt after being out of school for almost 18 years now

I graduated from a foreign Engineering school in 2004, and I've been working as an Electrical Engineer in the USA for the last 7 years. It took me a while to make the decision of taking the FE in Electrical & Computer, first because I didn't know about it, and second I thought I was too far from solving math equations again, but finally, in 2021 I made the decision and I started with getting my credentials evaluated by the NCEES, which took several months, between translating transcripts, shipping original transcripts from the University to the NCEES, and so on, by mid-2022 I was finally authorized to take the FE exam, and that when I realized I didn’t have the plan to study all over again.
I reached out to some friends looking for advice and I started my search on the Internet where I finally decided to enroll in Wasim's online training “Study For FE on-demand course & live training sessions”. This was a game changer, I have to be honest, the first couple of months were only frustration on my end, not being able to keep up with remembering all equations, concepts and decided to take a break for 3 weeks to clear up my mind, and then after this break, I decided to just follow all recommendations from Wasim’s YouTube videos, study at least 20 hours a week, 3 to 4 months of study and schedule the Exam ahead, this plan just works!.
Wasim’s course is well-structured, he records the weekend live training sessions which allowed me to watch these on my available time. There is a full-length simulated exam once you finish all content which I would say is a must and just good information on the classes to pass the Exam.
Besides all the mini-quizzes and homework from the course, I also did all practice problems from Wasim’s Study Guide, 3erd edition, and all practice problems from a Practice Exam book from the PPI, about this last one, I kind of regret doing it, because Wasim’s problems are much more similar to the actual problems in the Exam and didn’t feel like the other book was a great help.
Finally, I took the NCEES practice exam 2 weeks before the Exam.

2023.06.02 17:01 Oxenforge Allow Me to Introduce Myself

Hey everyone, so I was chatting with a fellow Redditor on this subreddit and he mentioned that he thought I was someone that Oxenforge hired to handle marketing in the USA and it made me realize that I never got the chance to properly introduce myself to you all.
My name is Brad and I'm the founder of Oxenforge. I'm the only one that has access to this Reddit account, so feel free to reach out to me directly here or email me at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) for business inquiries.
I'm Canadian/Chinese/Filipino and I've been in China for the last 8 years. I founded Oxenforge because I've always been passionate about wok cooking and when I learned about Zhang Qiu Woks, I ordered one for myself. I realized that I had been sold a fake. Returned it and ordered from another seller. Guess what? Fake again. I repeated this process 10 times until I eventually got a real one.
A few months went by and I visited Zhang Qiu myself to learn more about how the legendary woks are forged. It turns out that many businesses capitalized on the popularity of Zhang Qiu woks and opened factories in Zhang Qiu that mimic the look of these woks. The government tried to crack down on this, but legally, they are allowed to call themselves Zhang Qiu Woks because their production location is in Zhang Qiu.
I talked to the locals and tracked down blacksmiths that actually hand forge these woks. I visited workshops all over the district and found the best craftsmen in Zhang Qiu. Even amongst the real hand forged woks, the quality can range. Over time we've built a partnership with the best blacksmiths. They have been making woks their whole lives and they are excited by the idea that people outside China are so interested in their work.
Anyway the reason why I founded Oxenforge was to share the genuine high-quality Zhang Qiu Woks with the people outside China. It started with sharing to family and friends and now to you guys and to the rest of the world.
Thanks for being so welcoming to me in this subreddit! I'm really enjoying having discussions with all of you. Feel free to ask me anything! See you around!

2023.06.02 16:43 PajamaWorker living with MiL is becoming unbearable

I just need to get this shit out of my chest, thanks in advance if your read my misfortunes.
So, for the past 3 weeks I've been staying with my husband and baby at my MiL's while our house is in the final stages of building. We had to move here because my husband needs to go to the construction site very often and it was too long a drive from our rental, and her place is closer. But the construction, as usual, is taking longer than anticipated and what was supposed to be just a couple of weeks may drag into a couple of months if not more.
At first, we were all getting along okay. But MiL became obsessed with putting socks on my baby (F, 1yo), and when baby got sick with the flu MiL insisted that it was my fault for not making her wear socks. I made a post here about that.
After that happened, the relationship between us just started degrading more and more. She's absolutely bonkers about cleanliness in her kitchen (her kitchen is overstuffed and full of dirty containers) so she doesn't let me cook in any way other than boiling stuff in a pot. She hand washes all dishes and wiped them down with a rag before setting them down to air dry, and throwsa fit if she sees a drop of water anywhere. She was adamant that we don't take our laundry to the laundromat but then stopped doing our laundry with no warning. She plain stopped talking to me and barely speaks to my husband and baby. When she talks or interacts with baby it's mainly to put her socks on or bitch about how "nobody put your socks on, no wonder you got sick".
This morning I got up and noticed our rug was missing (we brought it and set it down so baby could play on the floor). BiL had put it away and left a message on the couch that we couldn't sit on it and they were going to throw it away because it has ants, and there were ants on the rug too. He says MiL said the couch should go.
Now I respect that if she wants to throw away her couch she has every right to. But my baby and I spend all day on the rug and the couch, where are we supposed to go? i haven't woken her up because she's comfy in bed and there's literally no other comfortable surface in the house for her to be on. I'm sure there's plenty of solutions to an ant problem that don't entail throwing away the furniture. Bed bugs, sure. But I feel like we're being punished. Am I overreacting?
I've asked my husband to get us a temporary rental, but he doesn't want to. He feels it would be insulting to his mom and an escalation of the conflict. But I'm desperate to get aways, I'm hugely triggered by the feeling of being unwanted. It's one of my biggest problems from a traumatic childhood. And this situation is causing me a lot of pain, but he says that it's not just about me and right now I have to hang in there.
Opinions? give it to me straight.

2023.06.02 16:05 theverywetbanana Answers to Transport Portfolio Questions in Holyrood

I apologise to those who I have let down by not answering these questions. I have been rather busy, as some may have figured by my resignation as First Minister of Wales. I am now able to answer, and will do my best below.
Would the minister address whether this Government has plans for supporting the transition to greener shipping?
While I do not currently have plans to do this, I can of course work with the member to do so. Shipping as of now relies on fossil fuels, but i’m sure that scotland can work on this with the other members of the government
Would the minister support the introduction of licensing for carriers transporting fuels within Scottish ports?
I would support this and would be happy to work with the honourable member in doing so
Would the Government work to adopt similar global emission caps on vessels registered and partaking in activities in Scotland?
I am sure that we will be able to achieve this, as reducing emissions is always at the forefront of my policies
Does the government have plans to improve the regulatory framework surrounding the operations of ports in Scotland?
At this moment in time, I do not have such plans. Should this matter need a response, I will provide one
Could the Minister confirm whether this Government would support increased high speed rail connections between Scotland and the rest of the UK?
Personally, I would support this project, however this would come at a great cost to the taxpayer. I of course reside over Transport issues in Westminster also, and so have had a look at this before
As the Cabinet Secretary will no doubt be aware, the entirety of Scotland's trunk road system is the responsibility of the Scottish Government. The M8 through Glasgow is due to have a temporary 40mph speed reductions brought in between junction 25 & 25a and given that the M8 at this point is going through a built up area, would the Secretary consider making this speed restriction permanent, in the interest of promoting better urban air quality?
A review will be made into the feasibility of keeping these restrictions, however they will remain temporary for the time being
I asked the First Minister what he is doing about arranging a temporary provision for the currently out-of-action Corran Ferry which is essential to keeping local businesses running. Lacking an answer from them, I will direct the same question to the Transport Secretary. What are they doing to resolve this problem, and have they considered approaching the MoD for military assistance?
Military assistance will not be needed in this case. A replacement for the ferry would be far more suitable, and I can provide this in due course
Will the infrastructure strategy proposed in the PfG be completed this term?
It is likely that not all parts of the expected progress in my department will be made this term. Time constraints and other issues have led to this. They will of course be completed as soon as I am able
Does the Cabinet Secretary support the expansion of the Railways (Electrification) Act to Scotland?
Yes, I do. Electrification is our best way forward
How will the government improve transport access for rural and island communities?
As I have done in Wales, I will be encouraging the expansion of local transport networks, such as buses and small rail lines
Does the government have any prevailing plans in relation to the extension of high speed rail to Scotland?
Please see my answer above. This would be a great cost as of now, but I will continue to assess the feasibility
I would like to raise a crucial issue in Scotland to the Cabinet Secretary. In Scotland, on the A93, landslides can occur and block crucial access to roads and transport links. How will the government resolve to reach a solution to this evident ecological and isolationary issue?
This is not an ideal situation to face, however a more permanent solution must be found. I will be assessing the possibility of creating a new route for vehicles to use in the event of such incidents on the A93
Would the transport secretary agree with me that there is a case for a car ferry service between Helensburgh and Greenock, avoiding a 50 minute, 33 mile car journey?
I would agree with the member. Cutting journey lengths also cuts emissions, and so I would be happy to work with the member on rectifying this
What new projects are being developed to support commuter towns like Bathgate, in particular young professionals who commute into Edinburgh or Glasgow?
The expansion of scottish bus networks is something I would like to see, and so an increased investment into public transport will be my solution for this
The new government has continued to make promises regarding introducing cheaper fares for public transport across the country. In the Programme for Government, a general term of 'reform' is used, alongside discussions of free travel for under 18s and smartcard access. To ask the Secretary what those reform plans mean in detail?
These plans have since been released, and so the member can refer to the new legislation put forward by the First Minister
I would like to draw members attention to the dire state of road quality and safety in Scotland. In Edinburgh as an example, roads have deteriorated to such a state that not even pedestrian areas remain stable. It is imperative that the issue of potholes and other hazards are properly handled. So I therefore ask, how will this government ensure local governments properly manage this?
I will be increasing funding for the repaving and fixing of roads that are deemed to be unsafe for either road users or pedestrians. Local governments will receive a chunk of money to use specifically for fixing their lowest quality roads.
How much is the Government’s plans for lower fares and price caps costing the Scottish Treasury please, do they believe that money is being spent well?
I would like to remind the member that I am not the finance minister and so do not have the specific costings. This money is of course being spent well, as with all of this government’s projects
Has the Government recently assessed the suitability of the bus network across Scotland, and if so what are they doing about it? Have they been working with local authorities, and if so which ones?
I have assessed this issue. Bus networks need expanding and at a rapid rate, both to reduce emissions and to take more cars off of the road. I can update the member on the full details on a later date
What steps has the Transport Minister taken this term to increase the speed of our transition to a wholly green transport network?
As i have in Wales, I will be ensuring the full transition to electric buses and vehicles in the next 20 years. I hope this answer satisfies the member
Has the Transport Minister undertaken any work on coast paths and cycle routes this term, to support our move to a low carbon nation? If so, what exactly has been done?
I have not currently done so, however I can promise the member that work will be made on this
A major factor in accessibility to rail services especially in rural areas is the ability to access a bus link to the rail station, with a timetable that meets the train services. For many of my constituents, and of course many across Scotland, whether there is a suitable bus link to their nearest station can make the difference between using the train or driving their car and contributing to congestion and pollution. To ask the Secretary what steps they are taking to ensure as many residents as possible are linked with appropriate bus connections to their nearest train service? Most people in Scotland already have this connection available. If the member would like to inform me of the places where this is not possible, please reach out to me and I will find a solution with the local authority
Would Transport Scotland/Còmhdhail Alba consider a trial of new transport technologies such as responsive transport in rural and island communities like mine?
I would be happy to trail such technologies, as they will eventually be the future of rural transport
To ask the Secretary what they see the future of the port at Cairnryan and how it fits in with the rest of Scotland's transport network?
As of now, I have no plans for adapting or changing this port
Does the Cabinet Secretary agree that the Edinburgh Suburban Line should be reopened, potentially as a tram-train, to serve the good people of Gorgie, Craiglockhart, Morningside, Blackford, Newington, Duddingston, Craigmillar, Brunstane, Portobello, Piershill, and Abbeyhill, and to allow them to avoid the traffic of central Edinburgh?
I can certainly see why the member wishes to reopen the Edinburgh Suburban Line. I will support this while in office
Does the Cabinet Secretary agree that we should explore turning Scotland's urban motorways into boulevards, or perhaps even axe them?
No. This would make traffic far worse and would benefit almost nobody
What has this government done, and what will it do, for active travel?
Please see the latest legislation submitted by First Minister
What has the Minister done to reduce rail fares this term, if anything?
Please see my answer above
As mentioned by other members the motorways through the heart of the Glasgow city centre have had extreme speed restrictions placed on them. Walking through Glasgow around Charing Cross, you can see traffic backed up for as far as you can see. Obviously this is not how a motorway should function. To ask the Secretary if they consider the extension of motorways through Glasgow centre decades ago, in hindsight, a failure and mis-step in planning?
Perhaps it was. Traffic congestion is a severe issue in Scotland, and this government will work to fix this
To ask the Secretary how they believe links to the Islands, including via ferries, can be improved?
The islands are a unique situation, where not much else other than more ferries can fix transport links. The only thing I would be able to do is increase the frequency in ferry services through subsidies
The West Highland Line is at risk of disruption from rock fall due to its position in the terrain. Furthermore, indication of such an event is only provided by a decades old wiring system that is maintained by bodges upon bodges. To ask the Secretary if they will commit to improving safety on the line by looking into new technologies in this area?
New technologies will not fix this issue. Scotland has a rugged terrain, and there is little this government can do about it.

2023.06.02 16:03 FelicitySmoak_ Song Of The Day Discussion : "Butterflies"

"Butterflies"
November 27, 2001 - 3rd single from Invincible
https://youtu.be/csvNBRZfFpo
Written by Andre Harris & Marsha Ambrosius. Produced by Michael Jackson & Andre Harris
This track appears on Jackson's tenth studio album, Invincible, and is his final single from a studio album. The song also appeared on 2004's The Ultimate Collection
It was written by Andre Harris and Marsha Ambrosius, who is one half of the London bred neo-soul act Floetry. Michael first met Ambrosius and Natalie Stewart, who is also a member of Floetry, through John McClain, who was DreamWorks's senior urban executive and Jackson's manager.
Stewart said she was surprised that Jackson invited her and Ambrosius to a studio and asked for their input on the recording of the track. She recalled in an interview with LAUNCH magazine:
"It was incredible because he asked, he continually asked, 'Marsh, what's the next harmony? Girls, does this sound right? What do you think? Is this what you were looking for? He was so open".
When Ambrosius first met Jackson, it took her a few minutes to calm down. She recalled:
"To begin with, I was kinda shook. Because you don't realize how you're going to feel until you're put in that situation. I had the tears in my eyes and got kinda nervous. But as I got into it, I realized it was work, it was a job. I had to vocally conduct a legend."
Harris commented on the single:
"He's showing you, I'm still the Michael Jackson that did 'Billie Jean' and 'Rock With You' because 'Butterflies' really falls along those lines."
The song was inspired by Marsha Ambrosius' own butterflies, as told to The Boombox in 2014:
"I had a crush on a guy In London and I had butterflies in my stomach. I was too shy to tell him. The song came easy. I was in the studio with Michael about two months after I arrived in America from England. Unbelievable."
It was only released in the US to radio airplay. Butterflies" entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart in early November 2001, at #60. The single eventually peaked at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 the week ending 1/26/02. It also charted within the top ten, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart on 1/26/02; it was held from the top position from Ja Rule & Ashanti's "Always on Time". In 2002, "Butterflies" also peaked at #36 on the Billboard Top 40 Mainstream chart. It was also released as a promotional single internationally but did not chart on any music charts outside of the US.
Butterflies" is a mid-tempo love ballad that received generally positive reviews from music critics. Vaughn Watson of the Providence Journal noted that the track is a "velvety old-school soul ballad" with "elegiac horn riffs" and "simple '70s-style David Ruffin soul."Stephen Thomas Erlewine, a writer for AllMusic noted that "Butterflies" had "Bacharach-styled horns."Lonell Broadnax, Jr., a contributing writer to the Daily Helmsman Online felt that "Butterflies" is a soulful song which takes Jackson back to his "rhythm and blues roots". Ben Rayer of the Toronto Star felt that the song was an "oozy slow jam"
Ken Barnes of USA Today described the song as being a "hopelessly sappy ballad oozing with fuzzy sentiments. I'd say it's more like caterpillars."Frank Kogan of The Village Voice, citing the lyrics, "I would give you anything baby, just make my dreams come true/Oh baby you give me butterflies" wrote "so, would he give her, like, caterpillars in exchange? birds?" and added that what grabs his attention about a song like "Butterflies" is not the "melody but the weirdly ringing wrench-against-faucet clang on the backbeat." Christie Leo of the New Straits Times gave the track a more positive review, calling the song a "luxuriant" ballad. Pop music critic Robert Hilburn, writing for the Los Angeles Times, described "Butterflies", and another song from Invincible ("Speechless"), as being "as woefully generic as their titles". A journalist of the same publication felt that track was about romantic "jitters". Darryl Frierson of University Wire felt that songs like "Butterflies" can set the "mood for any romantic interlude". Joel Rubinoff of The Record said that "Butterflies" was one of the "only good songs" from Invincible, while a writer for The Atlanta Journal cited the song as being a "decent track"
A writer for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution viewed "Butterflies" as being "laid-back". Mark Anthony Neal of PopMatters wrote in his music review for Jackson's 2002 album, entitled Love Songs, that in song's such as "Butterflies", it shows the "essence" of Jackson's "genius has been in the boy's uncanny ability to perform, even the mundane, outside of the box."Elliot Sylvester of The Independent felt that ballads on Invincible such as "Speechless and "Butterflies" are "almost to a formulaic fault." Chicago Tribune rock music critic Greg Kot said that Jackson is not "convincing as the vulnerable ladies' man on drippy ballads" such as "Butterflies". Stephen Thomas Erlewine, a writer for Allmusic, commented that Invincible was "highlighted" by "lovely ballads" such as "Break of Dawn" and "Butterflies". David Browne of Entertainment Weekly wrote in his review for Invincible that, "The ballads are a squishy bunch with glaringly banal lyrics, pleasantries like 'Butterflies' and 'Break of Dawn' that could emanate from just about" anyone. A journalist for The Philadelphia Inquirer called the track "gorgeous" and Bomani Jones of Salon.com called "Butterflies" a "sparkling" track. Ben Rayer of the Toronto Star wrote that Jackson "fares best" on "Butterflies"
Catherine Halaby of the Yale Daily News said that songs on the album like "Heaven Can Wait", "Butterflies", and "You Are My Life" "fulfill the quota for sugary ballads". Jon Pareles, writing for The New York Times, said that tracks on Invincible like "Butterflies"' and "Don't Walk Away" are "melting love ballads". Pareles noted in his review for the album that songs on it are recurring themes present on Jackson's albums, such as love ballads, as well as tracks pertaining to making the world a better place. Tim Perzyk of the Duke Chronicle wrote, "By the time 'Butterflies' spins on track seven, it's unclear why Michael didn't record a collaborative boxed set with Mariah Carey, whose 'Heartbreaker,' 'Breakdown' and 'Butterfly' would fit quite nicely" into Jackson's Invincible album. Pop music critic Craid Seymour of the Buffalo News wrote that "another winning tune" on the album is the "dreamy 'Butterflies,' which flows along at a groovy midtempo pace." Kevin C. Johnson of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch described "Butterflies" as being about the "feeling that special someone gives him." Music critics writing for the South Florida Sun Sentinel said that the track shows the "shy, loving, gentle side" of Jackson
Unlike the previous singles released from Invincible, a music video was not made to promote the song. There was a Track Masters remix released that featured rapper Eve.
A year after this appeared on Invincible, Floetry's original version was included as a bonus track on the English version of their debut album Floetic

2023.06.02 16:02 DiogoCorreia1605 The Boss's ending is kinda conflicting on multiple parts (mgs3)

Just finished the game for the first time, loved it! 10/10, but here are some questions I was left with (sorry if Im missing something, havent had 19 years to process the game like everyone else): -What was the actual intent of the Boss with the philosopher's legacy? Why did she remain loyal to the USA by stealing the legacy for them even though she had a whole speech about how her country betrayed her? Did she think america could bring forth her wish to make the world come together again? And if so, that is never said. She might have been loyal to the philosopher's original purpose, but I think the fact she fullfilled her mission that america kinda makes her a nonce. She was a true "patriot" but at the same time, she isnt? -Why did she help Eva if she knew that she was working for the chinese entities of the philosophers? Did she know that that the film she gave snake was a fake and that Eva would eventually steal it for the chinese (thus giving the country who betrayed her, america, the upper hand)? Again, where is that established? -What could she possibly do with the legacy if she kept it to herself in her pursuit to bring the world together by uniting the philosophers? -this isnt really a question, but her telling the truth through Eva isnt what drives Snake to cause the times of endless battles through mercenary, which she so desperately wanted to avoid. I think his understanding of her wish of a world without borders was pretty poorly understood by snake. -The whole mgs relies on the fact that the boss decided to GIFT Volgin some american-made nuclear weapons for no tangible real reason? She didnt HAVE to give those nuclear missiles, it felt a bit too much of a plot device to me.

2023.06.02 15:47 Yorkpeepee Why ACAB? An "Essay"

Hello everybody!
I've argued with many pro-police people for various reasons, and have acquired a decent-sized library of their common talking points in support of the police and in opposition to movements like ACAB. Today, I will address the most interesting of these talking points and debunk them, with sources. The format of this post will be FAQ style. I'm not the best when it comes to researching so if anybody has suggestions for alternate/additional sources I'm all ears. Please share this with your friends and loved ones who are on the fence or maybe completely support police, maybe this'll change their minds.

My Beliefs

The system of policing we see in the United States and many other nations is plagued by corruption, violence, and extortion. While these issues may be seen as worse/better when you compare different nations, it's all still the same and tier-listing misery will get us nowhere. For the purposes of this essay, I will be addressing police specifically from an American's perspective, as I'm American. I also will be operating on these premises:
With these details in mind, I believe that the second a would-be cop dons that uniform, they have lost their humanity in my eyes, and their lives are forfeit. They have become obedient, robotic agents of the state, and as long as workers of this country struggle against the state, this stance will be firmly unchanged.
Does this mean that well-meaning people don't exist in law enforcement? Absolutely not. There are many cops who see the injustices in the system and either through culture shock or naïveté, attempt to bring consequences to their fellow pigs. This often results in retaliation including but not limited to: firing, harassment, refusal of backup, or just straight up murder.
The only good cop is either a dead one, or one that turns to our side.
Now with all that out of the way, let's begin my straw-man.

When you say "agents of the state", what does that mean?

There's a story from my own life I can share with you:
A while ago when I used to work at McDonald's I found out that our boss was sabotaging other workers' interviews for other jobs, in an attempt to force them to stay at the job. Me, being still quite young at the time, thought that the police should do something about this, as I researched this and it is illegal for an employer to do this. The only response I got back was "This isn't a police matter"
So then me, confused, wonder why not? If what she's doing is against the law where I am, why can they not investigate? Now this was before I knew about the Department of Labor and all that, so I never followed through with this incident, but this story planted a seed in my mind.
This seed grew into a beautiful plant in my mind once I learned the Labor Theory of Value, Marxism, the usual "commie shit". All this made me realize that the reason that incident wasn't a police matter, is because police work for capital, not us. The capital owners are the ones who use the police to keep workers in check. This is a dynamic that goes all the way back to the police's original intended purpose of catching runaway slaves, eventually leading to violently suppressing worker uprisings during the Industrial Revolution. They don't willfully go after the elites, much less their own, because they're on their fucking leash.

So who do you expect to keep you safe?

I don't know, I don't have that expectation now. Wanna know why? Because, if the Uvalde Shooting wasn't evidence enough, police are not legally obligated to protect anybody.

What if somebody breaks into your house?

Let's use the common example of Chicago for this one. Chicago's police response time averages from any range between 95 seconds to 9 minutes.
Now let's assume this burglar is actually a threat to you, as in, they actively want to kill you. Do you think the police will be there to save you in time? Best to defend yourself.
Did the burglar leave with your valuables? Hope you had insurance! Property crimes (which includes burglary) are only solved about 16-20% of the time.

This must mean they don't have enough officers or funding to respond faster

Another myth. Police have plenty of funding. So much in fact that not enough is going to actually important institutions, like schools and fire departments. This is a hard thing to find proof for since most of the cities in the USA have some sort of law enforcement apparatus, but I'll give you some homework. Try and find out the police funding for your city/hometown. Compare that to the taxes that go to the actually useful stuff.

What about the mass shooters and serial killers?

Well, I already made fun of the cowards in Uvalde so I'll just say this:
Those are the things armed police SHOULD be charged in handling.

Wait, did you just say armed police? As in, you want to disarm them?

Hell yeah brother. The United Kingdom, for example doesn't give their street cops guns. They're trained in hand-to-hand combat and disarming techniques. They still have armed units with which they deploy for [fire]armed threats.
In the United States meanwhile, we have pussy cops using guns against people with melee weapons. They have the numbers and the equipment (stun guns, mace, batons) to take down this kind of threat and instead they take the easy way and shoot them. So yes, take their fucking guns away.

Wouldn't that make them easy targets?

I would argue that their behavior makes them targets, "fuck around and find out" as they say.
Be that as it may, disarming the police would be nigh impossible and incredibly illogical with how easy weapon procurement is in the USA, which is why gun laws need to be restricted too. But that's a whole other discussion I don't feel like having. So for this I will give you a +1.

My Proposed Solution

To conclude this essay, I share my proposed alternative to policing at it is now, which would coincide with extensive prison reform as well:
Have a great day everybody!

2023.06.02 15:31 ExtremistPeacemaker 1991 to June of 2023 history of the Islamic Sultanate of Qarsherskiy قارشيرصكئ سلطنة الإسلامية Исламский султанат Карширский

In 1991, the idea of a Muslim-majority state within the USA that allied itself with the USA and protected North American Muslims from hate crimes, Riba, Haram things, and sectarian violence was born. It was based on the legend of Qarser, that there was once an ancient Live Oak tree somewhere on the Virginia Peninsula but the tips of the leaves had a V-shaped indentation, rather than protrusion like any other Live Oak tree, making it a tree which bore heart-shaped leaves. The Native Americans met with Muslims from West Africa to trade under this rare tree with the beautiful leaf mutations. When the White settlers came, the Native Americans and West-African Muslims fled or were pushed out West and their unwritten history and culture was destroyed and the tree was cut down. This legend has a few variations and is used as a justification for the Virginia Peninsula being the specific location of an independent Muslim micronation. Qarsherskiyan nationalists still tell this tale today. The movement for an independent Muslim country had few supporters and many critics and locals chased off any Muslims who tried to buy land in the area. Ultimately the plan failed but was written down and recording in several notebooks and diaries which were hidden in the walls of a few houses in Virginia and Ohio belonging to members of the former movement. As time when on, the houses needed renovations and the notebooks discussing the plan and its reasoning and failures and successes were found. In 2005, a boy named Brennan White was born in London, Ohio and began growing into a very interesting kid, with unusually fast rate of maturity, able to speak full sentences before being one year old and walking by one years of age as well, according to his grandmother who raised him until we was about 3 years old. Brennan studied horticulture lessons for children at only age 3 and could explain how to create hybrids of trees and name and identify various plants and animals at age 4. By 2019, American teenagers and pre-teens from Muslim-American backgrounds found these notebooks after homeowners in the area did as the notebooks instructed and handed it to someone from the local Islamic community upon being found. It was the Powerplant Group, a powerful conglomeration of groups of kids and teenagers from Ohio, West Virginia, and Ohio named for their love of Urbex adventures and previous explorations of abandoned powerplants and cooling towers. In the same year, 2019, one female member named Powerplant 'Aisha based in Vermilion and Lorain in the state of Ohio got hold of all the notebooks and took particular interest, announcing the re-formation of the Muslim state in the USA and never officially naming it but calling it several names including Qarsherskiy. Nearby, on East 21st Street, Lorain, Ohio, USA, Brennan White had slowly matured over the years researching geography, religion, language, horticulture and botany, entomology, and science to INCREDIBLY OBSESSIVE levels for over a decade. He was particularly fascinated by Wicca and Black Magick but by fall of 2020 his shift had focused to Indian and South Asian societies a bit more, as well as Chinese and Hispanic traditions. In 2020, Powerplant 'Aisha and the Powerplant Group consolidated power over the Islamic Sultanate of Qarsherskiy although it still wasn't officially named that and hadn't declared independence. They began working with Brennan to make up a non-existent Island-Nation online called Aleialei Atoll in order to trick people online into believing a small, rich Pacific island nation existed and needed their help. It wasn't a scam but a ploy targeting the enemies of Qarsherskiy solely to lead them down an internet rabbit-hole and waste their time, distracting the enemies of Qarsherskiy from spreading slander online. Thousands of footage and images of beautiful beaches around the world were uploaded by over 30 members of the powerplant group all across social media and labelled as ''Aleialei Atoll" while lore, culture, and history of Aleialei Atoll was made up and posted online. Anyone who slandered Qarsherskiy or the powerplant group online would be directed to research Aleialei Atoll with some vague statement about the place and suddenly hours of researching the mysterious and unknown "country" would ensue. By sping of 2021, Aleialei Atoll had been exposed and the powerplant group hired hackers to take down 99.7% of all content related to the project from the internet. A new fictional nation called Bahariterra was made up in Spring of 2021 and an average of 250 YouTube videos a week went up. Any time any of the 30+ members of the Powerplant Group saw food, palm trees, beaches, or something interesting from a foreign culture, it was uploaded online as something from "Bahariterra" and before long thousands of hours of content a week went up and long paragraphs of information on various websites misled Qarsherskiy's online slanderers down a new rabbit-hole. By the end of 2021, Brennan's family began preparations to move to Newport News, Virginia, officially leaving Lorain, Ohio on 1st January 2022, and arriving late at night to a hotel in (downtown?) Newport News. the next morning, 2nd January 2022, Brennan and his family had settled in a new home and were finishing putting luggage away. After a year of Brennan exploring the area with his local friends, obsessing over the last few hundred years of history in the area, and meeting people who would convert to Islam or were already Muslims, Brennan learned in late December of 2022 of local neo-Nazi groups called Bombenfein who spoke a Germanic conlang and believed in an esoteric radical re-interpretation of Christianity that favoured Whites and sought to kill racial and religious minorities, Brennan knew it was a matter of time before the Islamic Sultanate of Qarsherskiy would declare independence, especially when police continuously failed to protect the freedom and safety of many local American Muslims and other minorities. Despite not having access to the internet at the time due to being in trouble with his family, Brennan secretly began getting his friend to represent him online and spread a message of his bravery and good leadership and plans for Qarsherskiy. Qarsherskiy would be a sultanate but if the sultan leaves no successor or if people dislike him and overthrow him, Qarsherskiyan law states the new sultan and their royal family gets elected into power by the people's choice and votes. Brennan began pushing his campaign and became the sultan of Qarsherskiy. On 28 March 2023, Qarsherskiy elected the first Emir and Sultan and declared its independence. Brennan became the sultan, Ali Aq-Qarsherskiyy At-Tariq AL-Akbar, and instantly opposed neo-Nazi threats to Qarsherskiy, helping his micronation of 1,947 people called Qarsherskiy in a two month struggle against Neo-Nazism known as the PondWater Neo-Nazi Wars, which ended in the Battle of BasaraQ exactly 2 months later on 28 May 2023 with Sultan Ali's victorious army praising his leadership. Qarsherskiy and its nearly 2,000 citizens then nearly had a Sunni-Shi'a Civil War which was put down peacefully by the sultan Ali. From 31 March 2023 to 3 June 2023, several attempts by the mere 17 Alawites in Qarsherskiy to overthrow and take over the government of Qarsherskiy failed. Qarsherskiy than began a healing process after its first two months were lived in chaos.

2023.06.02 15:16 WalkingTaco42 Looking for advice, IN eviction of 21 year old

This is in central Indiana, USA.
Backstory
My fiancee moved in with me at the start of November of last year. A couple of weeks after this, her daughter (21) moved in to to get a local job since she had just finished college. Neither fiancee nor daughter pay rent for my property in any way. Their only financial contribution has been to buy groceries (she was supporting another residence that was a rental owned by her father until this past May).
The daughter isn't a very nice person. She's aggressive and rude, but then will also flat-try to ignore me. Last night there was an incident where she made a rude comment at me, I let it go, then she went and indicated I had done something negative to my fiancee, who became involved like I was a bad person - which I just feel puts this over the top for me.
My fiancee also has another daughter (19) living with us over the summer until college is back in session in the fall. I don't have any problem with her.
Things with my fiancee haven't been the best in the past few months - I'm thinking our relationship is nearing an end. In some of our arguments, she's said "why don't you just ask me to move out?". But once she indicated that she believes I can't just ask her to leave because she's had things like her (and her daughters) mail switched to my address.
My problem
Since nobody is paying rent, do I just google/download an eviction form for my state and get them to sign it? I was thinking of declaring a month's timeline for them to find somewhere else to live. Is this detailed enough I should hire legal representation (or can I afford to wait and see if they are being uncooperative first before I have to worry). Ideally I just want to setup something that even if they are wanting to play dirty I'm protected with some reasonable ending.
tl;dr:
My fiancee and daughter have been living in my house in Indiana since last Nov 2022. They have not paid any sort of rent/utility bill, but have established the house as their address with things like the post office. If we decide we are truely done with each other, looking for a good way to establish a reasonable "get out" timeline.
House is 100% in my name and I am the only person that contributes to the mortgage, utilties and expenses of the house.
