Hi everyone!
I created this clan in hopes of finding and building a relaxed & active community of CoC players who enjoy doing Clan activities like Wars, Clan Games, Capital Raids etc. Any player that's active daily (preferred, but not necessary) and is looking for a chill clan to hang out in is welcome to join.
While the clan isn't really hardcore, we do have a few rules to follow to avoid some confusion.
- If you opt in for Clan Wars it is expected to use at least 1 attack on your mirror after that we usually do clean ups from the bottom up in the 2nd half of the War. Those who are a higher Town Hall should try clearing higher enemy THs, so that those who are lower still have a chance to gain some loot. Wars are usually back-to-back, if you don't want to participate in every single one then opt out.
- When you attack a district in Clan Capital you attack it until you clear it so others don't have to use their attacks for clean ups (unless you specifically want to clear districts for faster attacks due to time, then just say it in chat).
- Participating in Clan Games isn't a must, but it is still highly appreciated since everyone shares the rewards and if it's possible, try completing some challenges even if you don't earn max points, it's the team effort that counts. Same thing with donations, they aren't a must but they're still appreciated.
- When it comes to CWL, I will ask the members first if they're even willing to participate or not.
And that's about it. The only other things that are expected is to communicate in English and to be respectful to each other. The clan is set to invite only in order to prevent spammers from joining. 2023.03.31 20:34 The_10th_Tooth Fanfic: An Engraved Invitation

Here is a little scene I imagine takes place around the same time as the epilogue of The Wiseman's Fear. I’m new to writing fiction and welcome constructive feedback.
One: An Engraved Invitation
Three days ago, Chronicler wasn’t sure he believed in fairies. Probably he would have said that he didn’t, had anyone ever bothered to ask. Perfectly understandable then, why Chronicler felt so perplexed to find himself suddenly alone in the bedroom of one of the Fae.
It all started a few weeks ago when he had been traveling with Skarpi. It had been their good fortune to stop at the same inn as a caravan that had recently been traveling through a nothing little town by the name of Newarre, a town so small that it hadn’t even been on the map. Caravans like these were a great source of news, but they were also a great source of stories. By the end of a long day of traveling, Chronicler usually had an appetite for both. Tavern tales being what they were, Chronicler knew the difference between stories and news. So when one of the wagoneers had a Kingkiller story that Chronicler had never heard, Chronicler was intrigued. He was a great collector of stories, so a new story was always welcome. But there was something about this story that Chronicler found especially interesting. When the wagoneer told it, no one argued about the details. Not one person said, “that’s not how I heard it” or “it was in a bookshop, not an inn.” And there was something lacking. There were no brave feats or marvelous magics, nothing to show Kvothe’s extreme cleverness in overcoming impossible circumstances. No compelling lie. Chronicler expected a story about Kvothe to have action and intrigue, enemies and lovers, music and magic. In fact, there were none of these things. There really wasn’t much to the story at all, and so Chronicler thought that this story had the simple ring of truth.
Chronicler recalled the gravelly voice of the wagoneer telling the crowd his Kingkiller story. “We were traveling through this tiny town when a drunken barman claimed that Kvothe himself was hiding there as an innkeeper,” the wagoneer began. “The name of the town was Newarre. The name of the inn was the Waystone.”
Not a bad start for a story, thought Chronicler. He didn’t think the wagoneer was one of the Ruh, but nonetheless, he told the story with the skill of one who spent a great deal of time circled around campfires and gathered together at bars.
“It so happens that the owner of the Waystone was a tired-looking man. Hard to say just how old someone is when they look that tired. Well, the owner fussed about the place a bit, always polishing the bottles and shining the bar, sweeping the floor and tending the fire. He pulled beer and baked bread. He served the supper and minded his business in general. He was everything that an innkeeper should be and he didn’t do anything to make you think of him as any different from any other of the innkeepers we’d seen along the roads we’ve traveled.” The wagoneer paused to take a drink from his wooden mug.
“But there was one thing that did stand out at the Waystone,” the wagoneer continued.
“Was it that the innkeeper had red hair?” guessed a young man seated a few stools down from him at the bar.
The wagoneer smiled. He couldn’t think of a single Kvothe story that didn’t mention Kvothe’s red hair. “No. It wasn’t that the innkeeper had red hair, but it is true that the innkeeper did have red hair.” The wagoneer nodded knowingly.
“What was different about the Waystone was the quality of the hired help.” The wagoneer shook his head. “Lord, that innkeeper must have owed someone quite a favor to have to keep a boy like that around. Sure, the boy looked capable and strong, but anybody with eyes could see he was really a wastrel and a rake. While the innkeeper was busy pouring and pulling, the boy lounged around and complained. He flirted with the ladies and he whined about being bored. But most of all,” the wagoneer raised his eyebrows, “he drank.” A small wave of nodding came from the other travelers, making it clear that they knew the type.
“Reminds me of you, Jimi, before Frannie set you straight,” a man called over his shoulder to a guy standing by the fireplace. Jimi, Chronicler presumed, had been engaged in some rather cozy-looking conversation with a serving girl before the story started. Jimi gave a sheepish grin and turn a little red, knowing it was true. The man raised his glass to the serving girl, gave a small nod and returned to his seat at the bar.
“That night when the boy was quite deep in his cups, he brought over a couple mugs of cider and took a seat next to me. We started talking and before I knew it, he was asking me what I knew about Kvothe. Well, you do hear stories on the road, so I told him a story I had heard about how Kvothe once trained a donkey to heehaw on key and keep a beat for him with his hooves while Kvothe sang a tribute to the royal lineage on his lute. And when I was telling him, he emptied his entire drink and went and got another. After I told him almost all the best Kvothe stories I knew, he leaned over and asked me if I wanted to hear a story no one had ever heard before. Well, I am not one of the Ruh, but I like my stories as much as anyone. And the drunken sod looked me straight in the eye and pointed over at the man adding wood to the fire and said, 'There was once a red headed man named Kvothe who was wanted for assassination, so he went into hiding.'”
“If only that boy could tell a story the way he could drink” the wagoneer shook his head. “Now,” continued the wagoneer with disappointment clear in his voice, “Maybe that poor boy wanted to make a name for himself. Or maybe he thought a little intrigue would be good for his boss’s business. Maybe he was drunk and sad and lonely, stuck in a dead-end job in a nowhere town he’d already outgrown,” the wagoneer speculated with a hint of familiarity in his voice. “But that boy was about as good at storytelling as he was keeping bar.”
Chronicler thought that these were plausible explanations as to why a boy might say such a thing. He’d probably grown up with Kvothe tales, pretending to rescue princesses, fight ogres, and save cities. Chronicler could not say why the boy would make up a story about Kvothe without any heroics or music or magic, but it occurred to Chronicler that hiding out in a one-horse town was a quite sensible thing to do if you had a price on your head. And because of this, Chronicler thought that what he was hearing wasn’t just a new story, but a news story. Actual news of the whereabouts of Kvothe, Kingkiller. He talked it over with Skarpi and Skarpi agreed. It was worth investigating.
So Chronicler set off to Newarre. He would check out the Waystone and then meet up with Skarpi in Treya after an appointment with the Earl of Baedn-Bryt. While the wagoneer’s story lacked any fantastical elements, so far, Chroniclers time in Newarre had not. Chronicler wasn’t thinking about the robbers who took his horse and his purse. It was only sensible to prepare for robbers when you traveled as much as Chronicler did with the roads being what they were. Nothing out of the ordinary there. But on the walk between Abott’s Ford and Newarre, Chronicler encountered something he never imagined he’d see. A red-haired man warning that demons in the shape of spiders and the size of wagon wheels were coming. And come they did. Chronicler wouldn't have believed it if he hadn’t seen it for himself. And if that weren’t fantastical enough, the man turned out to indeed be Kvothe. When he told people that he got to see Kvothe fight the creatures firsthand, people would probably accuse him of telling fairy stories. They definitely weren’t going to believe that the boy who leaked the news of the innkeeper's identity was one of the Fae. A faeling prince, if the introduction Kvothe gave him was true. Bastas, son of Remmen and prince of twilight. Bast for short.
Last night, Bast snuck through Chronicler’s window declaring that Chronicler worked for Bast now. No, not quite. What Bast actually said was that he owned Chronicler now. Apparently, Bast had orchestrated this whole thing. He had slipped the innkeeper’s true identity to the wagoneer as some sort of message in a bottle, hoping that someone would hear the news and come looking for Kvothe. And Kvothe would start acting like his old self again rather than the innkeeper he’d become. Then came the threats. Rather colorful threats about what would happen if Chronicler brought his master to despair by asking about the more painful portions of Kvothe’s past. If he brought Kvothe to despair? Why, if he wanted his Reshi back, did Bast say all that fatalistic nonsense about the Ctheah? Why insist that Chronicler focus on the heroics and avoid music and magic only to destroy all hope for the future with stories of the Ctheah? Worst of all, Kvothe had believed him. That so-called message in a bottle was more a plague ship than someone influenced by some oracle of evil. Bast had set Chronicler up for failure, but Chronicle was an educated man and believed a man determined his own fate. So tonight, he had paid Bast a return visit through the window to see if he could get the foolish boy to listen to reason.
Exhaling, Chronicler gave a small shrug. It hadn’t been an easy thing to sneak across the rooftop of the inn and confront Bast, but the boy had needed some sense slapped into him. This wasn’t the first time Chronicler had to take measures for self-preservation while pursuing a story. As usual, the risk seemed to have paid off. After their little lesson in self-determination, Bast seemed to relax a bit, too. He had just climbed out of the window saying he was going about with business. Hopefully a little business with a farmer’s daughter would help the boy set his mind right for getting his Reshi back. In the morning, they would need to focus on the heroics in Kvothe’s tale and not the superstition of certain doom.
Chronicler wasn’t sure how he expected things to go tonight, but he sure hadn’t imagined that he’d find himself alone in Bast’s room. From what Chronicler could see, it was like the rest of the inn in that it was generally well-appointed, though not quite as tidy. If the gibes of the local dinner patrons were any indication, there were rarely any guests to dirty the inn. Bast, on the other hand, mentioned that he frequently…entertained. Bast was probably right when he said that what Chronicler knew of the Fae could fit in a thimble. A quick glance around Bast’s room wasn’t enough for him to learn more. Everything here seemed quite ordinary. In fact, there were the normal little odds and ends everywhere. Common things that showed the little details of a young man making a life for himself--a quilt that could have been a keepsake from his childhood, a candle that might have been a gift from a first lover. There were even holly boughs made into a garland. All that Chronicler could learn from a quick look around was that the Fae were as sentimental and superstitious as anyone. Guessing that Bast would be at Shep’s wake awhile, Chronicler considered looking a little deeper to see what secrets he could learn before Bast returned. Chronicler had to admit he was curious.
But no. Chronicler had business to go about with, too. There were nibs to clean and inks to grind. He’d need to make certain preparations before Kvothe told the final part of his story in the morning. He knew he should return to his room and tend to his work, but he didn’t look forward to one more trek across the roof back to his room. He put down a floral candle he had picked up to smell and considered his options. If tonight were any indication, the gentlemen downstairs were right about the inn’s lack of travelers. With Bast gone out of the window to town, there was no one else upstairs but Kvothe and he had said he was remarkably tired after that beating he took from those soldiers. Chronicler wondered if Kvothe would notice if he walked right down the hall and returned to his own room directly rather than make a return trip out the window and across the roof. Chronicler tip-toed toward the door, thankful that even on the second story, the floor didn’t creak. He opened the door a soundless smidge. Looking through the crack, Chronicler thought he caught a glimpse of red hair turning the corner toward the stairs. Yes, definitely red hair. Even in the poorly lit hall, there was no mistaking Kvothe’s hair. The innkeeper was heading downstairs. Chronicler saw an opportunity.
Kvothe was one of the Edema Ruh and an excellent storyteller, but he’d made Chronicler promise to write the story exactly the way he told it. That’s not how stories worked. That’s not how Chronicler worked. Chronicler was…well, a chronicler, and his business was stories. He’d already taken a great deal of risk for this story and he wasn’t even getting all of it. Chronicler knew that the story he’d come here for was mere steps down the hall in Kvothe’s room, crumpled up and disregarded but not discarded. Bast had told him as much. If a wagoneer’s gossip was Bast’s message in a bottle, then telling Chronicler about a memoir Kvothe had written was an engraved invitation. Both Bast and Kvothe knew Chronicler was interested in that memoir, and they left him alone up here anyway. The faint beam of moonlight coming in through the window was barely enough to cast shadows in the hall, but even so, Chronicler could see that Kvothe left the key in the door.
