2023.04.01 13:48 SouthRelease First time in Italy, mini road trip, where to go?
Hi there, me and my wife want to go to Italy between April 30th - May 12th. We want to stay between 7-10 days in total. We are going with our car and our first city in Italy would be Milan. It takes us between 11 - 13 hours to arrive in Milan, so maybe we will make a stop in Bazel or Luzern and travel the next day to Milan or just arrive in Milan before the evening.
I am reading a lot of info online, but I'm really stuck on planning a good route + making the most of the days we spent in each city.
Our plan was this (if we arrive around 18:00 in Milan):
- Day 1: Spent the evening in Milan, walking through the city etc.
- Day 2: Visit the highlights of Milan
- Day 3: Take the train from Milan to Lake Como
- Day 4: Travel to Florence and visit the city
- Day 5: From Florence to Siena and then back to Florence by car
- Day 6: From Florence to San Gimignano and then back to Florence by car
- Day 7: From Florence to Cinque Terre and then back to Florence by car
- Day 8: From Florence to Bazel or Luzern and then back to our home the next morning.
I never heard about Siena, San Gimignano and Cinque Terre until yesterday when a friend told me, but it looks very nice on the pictures and reviews. Are these cities good to visit for a day and is it very busy around this period of the year?
Other things we were thinking about:
- Visiting the Ferrari museum in Modena or Maranello
- Visiting San Siro, perhaps also the AC Milan museum (?)
What do you guys think of this route. It will be my first time in Italy so if you know better routes/cities to visit or if I should skip certain cities, I'm happy to hear.
Some other questions:
- I heard about ZTL-zones? What should I do if my hotel is in a city? How can I reach the hotel without being fined?
- Do you recommend taking the train from Florence to the cities I mentioned, or should I take the car?
Thank you in advance for helping us out :)

2023.04.01 13:26 Forsaken-Garlic4818 money diary: I‘m 28, live in Boston, make roughly $70k as a 👩🏼🏫 and everyone is ragey at work this week! (emoji-style baby)
part 1: net worth positive net worth
category | #shesworthsomething |
💹 15,700 | Roth IRA, not much but it’s honest work. I wasn’t able to contribute last year but sent $1400 this month. Don’t think I will max this year but will do what I can. |
📱 1,400 | 457, not even sure why I contribute to this ($50/paycheck) |
📈 25,100 | Pension – cash value not super relevant here. 11% mandated contribution |
💰 7,100 | checking |
🤑 3,000 | HYSA @ 4.25% |
➕ 52,300 | we keep it positive around here |

🏡 362,000 | Purchase price, spring 2022, ginormous (income-restricted) condo |
💸 -317,026.81 | Mortgage #1 balance @ 2.75% |
♊ -23,431.95 | Mortgage #2 balance @ 0%, down-payment assistance paid in full at end of mortgage or resale |
➕ 21,541.24 | Equity including both mortgages, since not including #2 feels disingenuous |
NET WORTH: -45,672.46 part 2: income Nothing exciting here as a public school teacher. My salary is fixed and the entire internet can figure out exactly how much I make. Next year I will apply to be a new teacher mentor to move over a lane (6% raise while I do the job). We won a great raise in our last contract so we can finally be paid almost as much as everyone around us!
This is my 5th year teaching but am on step 6 of 11 due to a full year internship.
read my paycheck and weep pay schedule: 24 paychecks a year (NOT 26), biweekly Fridays with the exception of holidays and the final day of school, where you receive paychecks 22, 23, 24 and are expected to make that last late June through early September
each paycheck is different, so let’s do paycheck #1

💪🏼 -87 | union power, baby |
➕ 1,952.23 | Also known at work as “the good paycheck” |
For those keeping track at home, my monthly gross is typically 5,871.66 and my net is typically 3,804.94
Why typically?
- If we have 3 paychecks in a month: enjoy the big fat no medical or union deduction!
- …unless it’s April onwards, when they deduct health insurance from EVERY paycheck to cover your summer months (we call it double deduction season)
- in December we get a premium holiday (1/2 medical deduction)
- I also run an outdoors club at work, which I am paid $35/hr when I run the club and additional pay for certain trips (last month I was paid $375 alone for our annual weekend overnight before vacation). This can be wildly inconsistent but let’s just say I have an extra $100-150 to play with each month.

🎓 0 | fed loans, thanks Grandpa Joe. I think this will be about $250/m when it starts up again. PSLF date late 2028 |
⛽ 31 | YNAB tells me this is my average since moving to my house. Grateful to have big windows and a “put a sweater on” childhood upbringing – touched the heat twice this year |

💻 39.95 | interwebs |
🏫 412.92 | Private loan, paid biweekly (so if it’s a rare 3 payment month it’s more). The minimum monthly payment is something like $316, but I’m sending an extra $50 to get some benefit from the power of compound interest. 4.79% is not a make or break rate. Payoff 2034 but hope this can happen sooner. |

🤸🏼♀️ 85 | trampoline class |
👩🏼⚕️ 60 | YNAB tells me my average is 60/mo, but this is overinflated due to an MRI in November that I will only have to do once more time. I’m usually at the urgent care or a specialist doctor 1x/month (this month: a UTI), so it’s more like 30 |
🪑 40 | Hard to quantify. Since I moved in, I had a free couch moved ($200), bought a very nice TV ($750), a vacuum ($250), filters for vacuum ($30), and the world’s nicest washer ($1900). So YNAB is telling me a horrifying $400/mo, but let’s call it 40 going forward |
🌷 0 | I was a good urban balcony gardener, but no balcony. Waiting for a community garden spot, hopefully next year |
🍉 250 | Includes booze and small household things (TP, paper towels, dish soap) |
🥾 30 | Am avid hiker and rollerblader. Averaged cost of trip incidentals like carpool or snacks, admission to roller rink |
💊 55 | 3 lifesaving medicines (25/mo + 10/mo + 30 as needed) + 10 for whatever medicine needed for illness of the month (10 for antibiotics this month). Every year I get a new epi-pen for 10 or 30. This month was more like 85 because my pharmacy accidentally sent me a med I have plenty of. |
➖ 500 | rough guesstimate |

📦 11.59 | 🕛 139 | prime shipping, no car in a store desert + my mom likes videos |
🎄 50 | 🕛 600 | I love Christmas |
💸 ? | 🕛 6500 | Roth IRA, we’re getting aspirational. I sent $1400 this month because it was a 3 paycheck month. Going to try to max and see how far I get. |
🦷 86.35 | 🕛 2250 | Saving ½ of estimated costs for Invisalign – never had braces as a kid and now my teeth are pretty bad. Hoping to start May 2024. There is unfortunately no savings for paying everything upfront so I’m saving ½ now and expecting a monthly payment around 150/mo during the treatment. |
➖390.50 | 🕛 4,686 | Ignoring the Roth IRA |

category 💲 | very big savings |
🌆 428.57 | 3k goal by August 2023 (current balance: 850), “No August pay” – we don’t get paid in August and the first week of September so setting aside money specifically for this without feeling guilty for draining my emergency fund |
🕐 300 | (181.82 since I’m ahead) Homeowner’s 1% Warchest, it’s exactly what it sounds like. For any and all home expenses (things breaking or projects). Current balance: 2k |
🛑 140.91 | Building back EF, goal is 3k by December 2023 (current balance: 1.7k). I know this is low but my job is hilariously stable. I will try to add another month in 2024. |
⭐
category 💲 | fun money! |
💻 50 | Laptop replacement, just chucking money in there. I’d like to buy a Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 5i since I love the 2 in 1 form factor. Currently have 100/600 |
🚝 70 (paused) | Travel fund contribution, but full at 350. BFF getting married in VT in August so hoping to turn it into a girl’s weekend with another BFF |
🎮 65 (paused) | General video game fund – keep it topped up at 65 in case a new game drops OR if multiple games go on sale. I try to only buy games on deep sale |
🎮 12.99 | Final Fantasy XIV sub, I’ll retire someday |
👯♀️ 50 | Anything with friends, including eating out with them. usually 100 in the summer |
🍦 30 | “eating out” aka solo treats for myself (breakfast at dunks, small treats) |
🎊 10 | events happening that we want to go to not already covered, averaged. |
➖ 202.99 | Not including travel and video games since that’s topped up |
If you add up the categories, I’m in the red and I’m well aware of it – not for much longer though, as I’m saving really aggressively. 😊
part 4: el diario Day 1 – Saturday
🌅 gotta get dad to the ballet! 4.80
👯♀️ brunch with daddy-o before the ballet, I provide the tickets but he pays for brunch. his wallet is hurting because he only just got paid at his new job, so I kick in 20
👀 because brunch is attached to a swanky hotel and it’s PAX east wknd. 0 for free entertainment
🥤 my father requests a water bottle before the show. 6
🩰 don q, my 3rd time and dad’s 1st. Very good, but very long. 0 because these are volunteer comps
🚊 & 👋🏼
🧼 the casita before the week starts
total: 30.80 Day 2 – Sunday
💤 lazy Sunday morning (dw, I’m still up at 6). Read the NYT cover to cover then play 🎮
🚊 meeting a friend of a friend to help her do taxes but I’m early
📖 it’s gorgeous out so I photosynthesize in the BPL courtyard with my book club book
⛔ the wifi is too slow for us to do taxes so we pack up and 🚶🏼♀️ down newbury st until we settle at trident
👯♀️ I supervise her taxes, and eat a late lunch (grilled cheese w/ avo and tomato). 22.15
🍉 make the mistake of dragging this poor girl with me to the postage stamp sized TJ’s. and it’s 5:15. one does not shop here so much as get in line at the beginning & pick what you want as you go. a tall person fetches me frozen arepas. I come in right on budget so I’m pleased. 57.52
👋🏼 & 🚊 home to plan my week and decompress with 🎮 and 📖
Total: 79.67 Day 3 – Monday
🌅 it’s just before 6 and birds are happy, but now I am taking the 🚍 to work
🌉 stuck on the bus with my BOSS because a 🚢 is passing through the drawbridge. at least we can now fill out 90 second walk from the bus to dunks with acceptable new england small talk subjects (weather, transit, and sports) before she dips to get coffee
😡 the youth, because tomorrow & wednesday are standardized testing. sorry kids, I don’t make the schedule!
🙏🏼 “my plan is to read the questions carefully and ask God to help me know” – A+ testing strategy
✌🏼 2:30 and on my way home
🤸🏼♀️ take the 🚊 to go to bounce (0, see monthly expenses) and catch up with bounce buddy M.
🚶🏼♀️ walk with M. to the 🚊, go home for 🍜, 🚿, 📖, 🎮
Total: 0 Day 4 – Tuesday
🌅 hello, happy birds as I walk to the 🚍
🔥 the computers are not charged for testing. teenagers have been divested of all electronics and are not allowed to talk to each other. mayhem approaching in 3 … 2 … 1 …
🤬 nonstatus (male) colleague uses a work group text thread to refer to an unknown female colleague as the b-word. mayhem continues
❓ 2 hour (!) meeting after work due to snow day cancellations. male colleague doubles down on his comment before storming out. brain is mush
🚍 I remember nothing
🔐 as I am politely informed by my e-mail 68.16
👩🏼🍳 white bean & tomato stew & watch abbott elementary because it’s cathartic
🗣📕 ballet book club on zoom! we just finished a book about martha graham so we talk about it (I’m hosting next time about james whiteside)
total: 68.16 Day 5 – Wednesday
🌅 please go away, very loud mourning dove
🍎 computers are charged, the youth are not. Mr. Insult has decided not to come to work today (probably for the best?)
🤬 is there something in the water?! another nonstatus teacher informs me that two of my students are talking to each other in the hallway and are not following her instructions which tbh is a day that ends in Y. important context: her instruction is in English and they only understand Spanish. I send them back to their testing rooms and she says, “when students ignore me and continue to speak in a language they know I don’t understand, they are being assholes” UM! GOODBYE!!!
😡 before I say something I regret I turn heel and inform my boss of this interaction. she takes a breath and thanks me for letting her know
😤 this is me taking a calming inhale / exhale before returning to staring at children
🏹 when I am proctoring (read: not allowed to read, grade, do work, browse the interweb), I like to imagine how the hunger games would go down if these kids were in it. the odds are in this room’s favor overall.
👩🏼🏫 these miserable youth are forced into a half day of classes, so we conference about grades and I let them have some free time
🏕 run weekly outdoors club for the youth. one student informs me a teacher refuses to sign a permission slip & doesn’t know why. make mental note to find this person and politely inquire. students make a great poster of images from our last trip and practice map skills
✌🏼 at 3:30 to get the 🚂 to then get on the 🚊 to go to 🤸🏼♀️ … it sounds awful but it all goes pleasantly smoothly, especially given how the T has been. class is great, lots of one-legged kicking on the trampoline. this is my 2nd week in a row of going from 2x class a week to 3x and it’s a tough adjustment. 0
🚶🏼♀️ to the 🚊 with M., who can’t make it to class on Friday – sad!
💊 the medicine I didn’t ask for but keeps coming has arrived. Note to self to call pharmacy and ask them to stop, but says 0 refills. Not a total waste because I KNOW I will get bronchitis again & need this. 10
🍿 paid for to keep my mother happy 15.99
🍴 eat leftover stew and 📞 my mother and best friend T. to debrief this very strange day
🎮 and 📖 before bed
Total: 25.99 Day 6 – Thursday
🌅 ahoy! Run into coworker D. on the 🚍 who gets coffee at dunks. I am feeling weak and acquire some 🥑🍞 3.69
🤝🏼 find this teacher who refuses to sign permission slip (who is also new). his reasons are very valid and we agree on conditions the student needs to fulfill to attend trip. hooray, adults being civil!
🤬 that’s it, something is in the water. two best friends in 3rd hour begin a heated verbal altercation about … a girl? in the middle of my class?? One kid takes off so I call security to let them know he would benefit from a check-in. the other student begins texting threats to his buddy and goes off on me when I tell him to stop. what is happening?!
👼🏼 boy returns with security at end of class, so I walk him to dean to process. 35 minutes later dean says everything is gucci and no more problems. hormones, man.
✌🏼 please get me out of here
💻 bill is paid 39.95
👵🏼 our weekly call (she is my only grandparent and is not doing well)
👨🏼 weekly call with father, who still likes his new job
🍜 leftover stew and Mandalorian with my 👩🏼 (we live text each other). finally, a good space battle!
🎮 and 📖 to decompress along with a long hot 🚿
total: 43.64 Day 7 – Friday
🌅 I don’t think I can do this today.
🧘🏼♀️ It has been such a frustrating week (there was another incident that happened that I can’t even reference due to state law/FERPA) that was incredibly traumatic and draining.
📱 to best friend T. and work friend R. to ask what they would do. Both endorse me taking a day off after this wild week.
🎮 and 📖 along with some stretching. 📞 with best friend E. to catch up on her wedding prep and life
🤑 payday! Good paycheck since it’s the 3rd of the month, but it might be missing hours from club. I won’t know until I see my paystub on Monday. +2,183.48 (+50 to 457, +322.94 to pension)
💸 ah, but it’s also the 31st. easy come, easy go 🏡 (1343.38) and ⛲ (167)
🚊 to 🤸🏼♀️ to a really 🔥 class. Learn the name of the girl next to me on Fridays who also brings her inhaler and it turns out we’re both teachers!
🍦 take a nice mozzarella sandwich home from tatte 13.97
🚊, 🍴, 🚿, 📖, 🎮
Total: 1,524.35 Grand totals:
- food & drank: 65.81
- entertainment: 15.99
- home & health: 10
- clothes & beauty: 0
- transport: 4.80
- other: 1,618.49 (how I would class my house expenses)
reflection: typical week money-wise in terms of reflecting my non-house spending – I’m saving really aggressively right now and don’t have a lot of money for discretionary spending. Even if I did, I’m very much a homebody during the work week. My job is probably more stressful than most as a baseline but this week was truly unbelievably bad. Still, looking through the week and taking time to step back I realize just how quality my support network is and for that I'm very grateful.

The official would not state what the implications of “disassociation” are, but when asked if they are serious, he responded, “Correct.”
Though Jackson’s anti-drug stance in public appearances was in keeping with the Witnesses’ clean-living codes, the entertainer’s Grammy-winning album

1988 - Michael plays the last of three nights at the Civic Center in Hartford, Connecticut
https://imgur.com/a/g5555p4 The story of Anne Miner: Anne is a great-grandmother who never attended a rock concert and prefers Big Band-era music. She says she is 'excited' about going to see Michael Jackson with tickets she won from a radio station but plans on taking cotton with her for her ears
'I'm excited. It's a chance of a lifetime experience,' said Anne Miner, 70. 'How many times are you going to see Michael Jackson in concert?'
The Greenfield woman, who admitted her favorite group was the Glenn Miller Band, big in the 1940s, won the tickets in a Michael Jackson Trivia Contest sponsored by WHAI radio and the Pepsi Co.
A chauffeur-driven white stretch limousine complete with champagne were to pick up Miner and a guest at her home and drive them to Hartford Civic Center in Connecticut and back.
She even considered wearing her old black-leather coat to the concert. She intends to go with her 20-year-old nephew, Michael J. Smith.
Smith said he prefers hard-rock bands like Bon Jovi over Jackson, but still expected to enjoy the concert. 'I'm just glad (Jackson) doesn't wear that white glove anymore.'
The two were given floor seats worth $22.50 each to the concert, which sold out just hours after tickets went on sale.
To earn the tickets, Miner answered three questions:
- What's Jackson's current record label?
- What's the identity of the celebrity who discovered him
- Where did Jackson grow up?
Miner said she determined Jackson's record label was Epic by going to a record store and that she learned his hometown was Gary, Indiana at the Greenfield Public Library. She admitted she guessed that Diana Ross was the celebrity who discovered him
'I'm always winning something,' said Miner, a retired waitress of 41 years. She said she's a compulsive contest player who occasionally gambles on the Massachusetts State Lottery and always buys raffle tickets.
Miner said she has seen Jackson 'shaking around' on television and thinks he is a lot like Elvis Presley, but adds he 'looks like a girl.'
1989 -Michael is on the cover of Ebony magazine.
https://imgur.com/a/UeLPsn8 1989 - Filming of "Liberian girl" short film takes place over 2 days. Veteran video director, Jim Yukich, was brought in to help craft a memorable clip.
“CBS Epic called and Michael Jackson wants to do a video for this song ‘Liberian Girl’ and I hadn’t heard this song yet,” said Yukich. “I’m thinking like ‘Off the Wall’ or ‘Rock with You’ or just I figure it will be one of those classic Michael Jackson killer songs, right? And ‘Liberian Girl’ is not a killer song. It’s funny — what do you do? So again, we’re throwing the kitchen sink at it, and so I pitched the idea to Michael that we would have him shoot the video while all these are people waiting to begin the video, and they don’t realize it until the end is that he’s directing.”
“He loved the idea. We started calling people, and we just called in favors from friends. I had just done a television special with Richard Dreyfuss, and Richard said he’d love to be in it. He said, ‘Can I call up Steven?’ and I said, ‘Steven who?’ and he said ‘Steve Spielberg and Amy Irving, and I said, “Yeah!” So he called Spielberg and Amy, and then you start calling people saying you have these people, and I’d start naming names and it was easy. It was very easy to get people because as soon as you get a couple of big names, everybody wants to be in it.”
The shooting day basically consisted of Yukich and his crew filming all the celebrities on a soundstage as they wait for Michael to show up. The final list of guest stars served as, in retrospect, a truly strange snapshot of that year in showbusiness.Comedy writers were given the task of writing some interesting things for the cast to say on camera while they waited.
“So we just had two days, and we had the live audio with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John doing the scene when they sang together, and they hadn’t sang together onscreen since ‘Grease’, so it was something to do that, and we just shot this grand stuff of people talking, and the outtakes are incredible because it’s just people talking. The song is not even playing! It’s just great getting all these stars in a room and you’re just filming and they’re saying, ‘What are you supposed to do?’ and we’d say, ‘We’ll get back to you,’ and you’d just mike everybody and shoot stuff.”
Yukich said that in a room filled with stars, Steven Spielberg’s uneasiness on the other side of the camera was the biggest surprise. Yukich used a push-pull camera shot on Spielberg, who was the director that made that camera shot popular, hence its industry nickname – 'The Jaws Shot'
“He was nervous. We did that push-pull move for that shot, and he was more nervous than I was, you know, being on camera. He wanted to try to do this favor for Michael because he wanted Michael for a movie.” Yukich also said that working with Michael was an amazing experience, but required some on-set preparation.
“Incredible,” he said. “I mean, at first, it was funny because he sent his handlers in first, and they check, and they said he is coming in 10 minutes. They go in all the different rooms to make sure that no bombs were there and there were no fans hanging out, and they kicked people out, and it was almost like going through airport security or something. They basically kicked people out there who weren’t supposed to be there, and they bring in a microwave oven with bananas for Bubbles the monkey and Max which was the baby monkey. It was like a real rigmarole, and then when he showed up, you know, he was unbelievably nice. Such a pleasant person and a nice guy.”
Jackson also had only one request involving the removal of a person from the final cut.“He called me a couple of times after he saw the edit. He would make us do some things, like he took out David Spade. David Spade was in the original cut. He called me up and he said, ‘Jim, this is Michael,’ and you think somebody was fooling with you, basically. You would never know if it was really him until he started talking about specifics and you could say, okay, that is Michael. So he called us up and he on a walkie-talkie phone or something, or he’s up in Santa Barbara, and says, ‘You know, in 3 minutes and 20 seconds, there’s a guy blonde here. Who is that guy?’ I said his name is David Spade. ‘I don’t know who he is, take him out.’ So Spade was out, and I’m sure Spade was, like, pissed!” (Spade had not yet joined SNL)
Yukich is still aggravated that the song, and hence the video, was never released in America.
When Jackson died suddenly, Yukich immediately thought back to the video and a conversation the two had.
“To this day, I’ve been – I guess not so much anymore, because years have gone by — but I was convinced when he died that he didn’t die. We made that video, and he said to me, ‘I would love to be hiding and see what people say about me, you know?’ I mean, having shot all that footage and then he died? It was just kind of weird.”
The video is dedicated to Liz Taylor, who is in fact not a Liberian girl *

2002 - Michael is about to start shooting the “Unbreakable” short film when Sony announces that they won’t release the single. The promotion of the Invincible album is over with only 2 singles!!! *
2002 -Michael’s former business manager Myung-Ho Lee files a $13 million lawsuit claiming that on September 14, 2001 Michael met him in Los Angeles and signed an agreement to pay him fees but he never got them. Michael’s lawyer Zia Moddaber answsers that his client never signed anything and was not even in Los Angeles on that date…
In his suit, Lee claimed that Jackson hired him in the late 1990s to put the musician’s finances in order, only to turn a deaf ear when it came to taking Lee’s advice by refusing to curb spending. Lee then claimed Jackson never paid him, instead relying on “charlatans” and “hucksters” for advice.
In his court papers, Lee called Jackson a “ticking financial time bomb waiting to explode” who owed banks hundreds of millions of dollars in loans.
Michael would countersue claiming Lee and Union Finance swindled millions from him and destroyed financial records to cover up their misdeeds.
2003 - Michael and Chris Tucker visit lawyer Willie Gary in Stuart, Florida.
2003 - Vanity Fair (#tabloidtrash) reported that Michael Jackson had attended a voodoo ritual in 2000 where a witch doctor promised that Steven Spielberg and 24 other people would die. The people noted were on Jackson's list of enemies. Jackson also wired $150,000 to a voodoo chief named Baba who sacrificed 42 cows for the ceremony. The article also reported that Jackson wore a prosthesis that serves as the tip of his nose

Michael goes to court with Katherine & Joe. Testimonies of Jeff Klapackis, Jack Green, Larry Feldman & Jesus Salas.
Larry Feldman, the attorney who first interviewed Michael Jackson's accuser testified that he was never asked to file a lawsuit against the singer.
However, he did acknowledge under cross examination, that the boy and his younger brother could file civil lawsuits until they turn 20 years old, the accuser being 15 years old now.
The prosecution had called Feldman to explain how the alleged molestation came to the attention of the authorities, but the defense used his appearance to try to show its belief, that the accuser and his family were out to get money from Jackson.
Jackson's defense lawyer, Thomas Mesereau grilled Feldman about the the impact of a criminal conviction, whether or not it would make a financial judgment easier.
"If Mr. Jackson was convicted of felony child molestation in this case, (the boy or his brother) could use that case to win a civil case alleging similar of same facts against Mr. Jackson, is that correct?" asked Mesereau.
"That is correct" said Feldman.
The two lawyers sparred over the exact requirements of a civil suit, and Feldman denied accusations of encouraging the criminal action, in an attempt to avoid incurring costs involved in preparing a civil lawsuit.
However, Feldman insisted that there would still be litigation expenses.
DA Tom Sneddon asked Feldman whether he was planning a lawsuit at the time, that he referred the accusing family to Santa Barbara prosecutors, to which Feldman replied "There was no lawsuit and there were no plans to file a lawsuit. It was up to you to investigate"
Feldman was permitted to tell jurors of a previous accusation against Jackson in 1993, where Feldman represented another boy, who won a monetary settlement. Jurors were not told how much the boy was paid, but Feldman said there were no trouble collecting it. An amount which has been reported to be millions of dollars.
Sneddon projected a photograph of the boy from the previous allegations on a courtroom screen, and asked Feldman to identify him.
"He was much better looking at that age. He was adorable," Feldman said, a remark which the judge ordered stricken from the record.
The picture showed a boy who many believe bears a striking resemblance to the current accuser.
Feldman said that while he met with the current accuser's mother many times after he ceased to represent her officially, he has "never been asked to file any lawsuit against Michael Jackson"
When Feldman walked outside the courthouse in an afternoon break in testimony, fans yelled "liar", "tell the truth" and "you're making money off the backs of these people"
Feldman said, he was first contacted by the family because of a dispute over the boy's appearance in the documentary,
Living With Michael Jackson where he appeared holding hands with Jackson. Feldman then referred the family to psychologist Stan J. Katz "to make out some heads and tails of what was being told to me by the family"
Katz reported suspicions of molestation to authorities after interviewing the family.
Also on the stand Friday, was an an investigator who testified that linens seized by police from Michael's bed, had failed to yield any DNA linked to the teenage accuser or his brother.
In other testimony, Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Klapackis defends the scale of the effort, when 69 investigators served a search warrant at Neverland on Nov. 18, 2003.
The large number of investigators were needed, he said, because they had only been allowed one day to carry out the search, because the district attorney didn't want to "burden the ranch and its employees with our presence longer than that," Klapackis said. He also said that there were large buildings to search at the 2,800-acre ranch.
Klapackis also said, that they took all bedding during the search, because that is where the accuser and his brother claim to have frequently slept, and where they allege the molestation took place.
During cross-examination, Klapackis said authorities did not test bottle and glasses containing alcohol for fingerprints - found in Jackson's bedroom as well as the home's wine cellar and kitchen. Nor did investigators test furniture, boxes, mannequin toys and rails along Jackson's stairwell, or his bedroom doors for fingerprints.
When asked on redirect why, Klapackis said, "It didn't enter in the investigation at the time."
However, they did test pornographic magazines. The boy's brother testified how Jackson showed them magazines. A fingerprint analyst has testified earlier, that the prints of Jackson and his accuser were recovered from the same magazine.
Jack Green, president of a Ventura telephone systems company, testified that he had inspected Neverland's phone systems. He explained that it had a function to allow someone to listen in on other's calls, but there was nothing to prevent anyone from calling 911.
Prosecutors allege the family's calls were monitored by Jackson, whereas the defense say the family could have called for help, if they truly were captives.

2023.04.01 12:57 Smack-works Casca and Griffith archetypes in fiction
| I'm going to compare Casca and Griffith to characters in other media. I want to describe their archetypes. I'm going to talk about Guts a little bit too. My analysis is quite superficial, sorry for that. But there's a lot of deep and detailed analyses out there. Why not have a deliberately superficial conversation about vague impressions of characters? After all, the difference between "deep" and "superficial" traits of a character is subjective. I have a specific way of describing characters, so we'll need a bit of theory before diving in. Basics I describe a character type as a list of dynamics: - Dynamic 1. ...
- Dynamic 2. ...
- Dynamic 3. ...
- And so on.
(Doesn't matter what the word "dynamic" means in general, specific examples are all that matters.) However, it shouldn't be a list of random dynamics. The dynamics have to overlap, be somewhat equivalent and have a common theme. Here's a made up simplified example: - Dynamic 1. The character likes to have fun with friends.
- Dynamic 2. Likes to work on projects with friends.
- Dynamic 3. Likes to actively help their friends.
- Dynamic 4. Likes to make new friends.
As you see, those dynamics overlap, mean basically the same thing and have a common theme "life + friends". And yet those descriptions are not 100% equivalent, each dynamic adds new information and context. Terminology This bit of terminology is going to be important: - "Outside world" = something that affects almost everyone.
- "Personal world" = something that's important to a specific person (including personal relationships). "Feeling sad" is an event in the personal world. But "falling in love" and "being in a love affair" and "going through a breakup" are events in the personal world too.
All this may depend on context, though. Casca I think Casca is similar to those characters: Misato Katsuragi ( Evangelion), Katara) ( Avatar: The Last Airbender), Raven/Mystique ( X-Men: Days of Future Past), Ginny Weasley ( Harry Potter), Sayaka Miki ( Puella Magi Madoka Magica), Trinity) ( The Matrix), Arwen ( The Lord of the Rings), Rose DeWitt#Fictional_characters) ( Titanic 1997), Bo Peep) ( Toy Story), Ericka Van Helsing ( Hotel Transylvania), Elizabeth Swann ( Pirates of the Caribbean), Sophie) ( Howl's Moving Castle), Wanda Maximoff) ( Marvel Cinematic Universe). This type of characters is created by those similar dynamics: - Dynamic 1. They are strong, but are a bit "lost" in the outside world. Trapped or pressured by it.
- Dynamic 2. They have an important past relationship/unrequited love, which contributes to their struggle against the world. Or a relationship with a character important/famous in the outside world.
- Dynamic 3. Their relationship is threatened by the outside world. They witness death of a loved one. Or great harm to a loved one. Or die/get greatly harmed themselves.
- Dynamic 4. They get [almost] crushed by the outside world. Or break free from the pressure of the world.
- Dynamic 5. They have an attitude/philosophy which makes the conflict with the outside world stronger.
Every dynamic above is about some conflict with the world: the outside world threatens the character personally or threatens their relationship. So, the overarching theme is "power and [very] personal conflict with the outside world". Let's see how it applies to some specific characters. Madoka Magica Sayaka Miki: - She is strong, but she isn't the strongest magical girl in the neighborhood. It serves as the source of additional conflict with the world (bullying by Kyoko, manipulation into despair by Kyubey).
- She has unrequited love for Kyousuke. Later she feels she lost her chance to ever be with Kyousuke. All this is 100% relevant to her struggle against the world.
- She sees her love crippled by an accident.
- Eventually Sayaka grows too frustrated by fighting evil and injustice, she "dies" by turning into a witch (an evil monstecreature).
- She cares about justice a lot and easily conflicts with people. It makes her collision with the world stronger.
She fits the overarching theme "power and [very] personal conflict with the outside world". Titanic Rose DeWitt#Fictional_characters): - Her family is debt-ridden. She's forced into a marriage to save her upper-class status. She feels trapped and even tries to kill herself.
- [skip]
- She sees her love die to save her.
- As mentioned, she almost kills herself. Then almost dies in the Titanic disaster. But after that she breaks free from everything and lives a free adventurous life.
- She has a specific desire for freedom and independence: another person in her place wouldn't suffer as she did.
Berserk Casca: - She starts with no control over her life. Then becomes a badass. Still, she's just a member of a band.
- She had feelings for Griffith and Guts (famous people in Berserk).
- She finds Griffith broken by torture, she sees her friends slaughtered.
- She was raped by Griffith. She's broken and loses her mind.
- She's very stubborn.
You can do a similar analysis of other mentioned characters. https://preview.redd.it/caxkqczs69ra1.png?width=226&format=png&auto=webp&s=2abf72969d5913edfedbf39945eadb5f30f47670 3rd dynamic Let's focus on this: Dynamic 3. Their relationship is threatened by the outside world. They witness death of a loved one. Or great harm to a loved one. Or die/get greatly harmed themselves. - Misato dies; "sees" Kaji die; sees kids die, get injured and traumatized; her father dies to save her. Trinity dies two times; sees Neo die one time ("now get up"). Katara looks dead in a heart-breaking scene; her mother dies to save her; Jet dies; Zuko gets zapped by lighting to save her; sees Aang die one time (until he dies the second time). Arwen almost dies; sees her mother losing her mind after torture; loses her immortality; sees Aragorn die peacefully. Sayaka "dies"; then 100% dies along with her new friend; sees her love disabled by an accident. Rose DeWitt tries to kill herself; sees her love die to save her; her "arranged husband" kills himself in a completely unrelated situation.
- Erika tries to kill her future love multiple times. Then breaks free from the control of her great-grandfather and prejudices.
- Elizabeth Swann: kills Jack Sparrow; her could-be-husband dies; Will Turner dies 7 minutes after marriage. Sophie: rapidly ages into an old lady; dumps water on Howl's heart, thinks she killed him; sees her love turned into a monster and dead inside.
- Ginny goes on a killing spree and "dies" in her first school year; her lover (Harry Potter) needs to die and partially succeeds.
Last but not least: - Wanda has had enough, she goes on a multiverse killing spree after: her brother dies two times; her love (Vision) dies two times; her kids are "taken away" from her. She was threatened by the world all the time; then she trapped a village for her fantasy world; then she started owning the multiverse.
Griffith I think Griffith) is similar to those characters: Shinji Ikari ( Evangelion), Harry Potter) ( Harry Potter), Frodo ( The Lord of the Rings), Monkey D. Luffy ( One Piece), Rock Lee ( Naruto), Saitama ( One-Punch Man), Heinz Doofenshmirtz ( Phineas and Ferb), Jim Moriarty ( BBC Sherlock), Jack Sparrow ( Pirates of the Caribbean), Princess Yue ( Avatar: The Last Airbender), Asami ( The Legend of Korra), Cassandra ( Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure), Evelyn Deavor ( Incredibles 2). And even... even... Sans) from Undertale. This type of characters is created by those dynamics: - Dynamic 1. This character is not the strongest or the most important person in their world (at least at first glance). They can be lonely. However, they are a threat/factor.
- Dynamic 2. This character could remain passive, but the outside world pushes them to action. Sometimes this character is pushed to a very specific action: self-sacrifice or betrayal.
- Dynamic 3. This character is very polite or chill or compassionate, even if the outside world is hostile. Even if their compassion is fake.
- Dynamic 4. Personal world of this character overlaps with / connects to the outside world in interesting ways.
- Dynamic 5. This character may combine unbreakable power of will with... a lack of will/agenda.
Each dynamic is about some "contradictory connection to the outside world". This is the overarching theme. Harry Potter and LOTR and Evangelion Harry Potter) and Frodo and Shinji: - Simplifying, Harry is just a decent wizard, he has no special means of fighting evil; yet he's one of the biggest threats to Voldemort. Frodo is just a hobbit, not a warrior or wizard; yet he proves to be one of the crucial people for defeating Sauron. Shinji is just a teen; yet he plays a very important role.
- Harry gets into most adventures "accidentally" or it's a Dumbledore's plan. Frodo was given a mission by Gandalf and it all went downhill/uphill from there. Shinji was called up by his father.
- Harry can get angry, but fundamentally he's chill and compassionate. Frodo barely snaps while carrying the most manipulative evil artifact ever. Shinji is apathetic and reluctant.
- Till the very end, Harry remains just a normal teen in the company of friends; yet he's on a world-saving mission. Till the very end, Frodo is just a hobbit in the company of his friend Sam; yet they are on the world-saving mission. Till the very EoE, Shinji is just a teen (not) sorting out his problems; yet he routinely saves the world.
- Both Harry and Frodo have strong wills (to resist mind control and disregard death), but they don't have much personal agenda. Shinji doesn't have any explicit goals either; and he has the will to remain more stable than Asuka.
All three fit the overarching theme "contradictory connection to the outside world". One-Punch Man Saitama): - Saitama appears to most people as a weak hero (in actuality he can
one shot one punch anyone and anything), so he is not treated as an important/famous person. But he is a threat. - Saitama behaves as if he gets dragged into a mess passively/accidentally.
- Saitama is fundamentally chill because of his power. If he wasn't chill, he would destroy the Earth.
- Saitama behaves as if he's just a regular guy who reacts to regular inconveniences. Even though he fixes global events.
- Saitama had the determination to become the strongest being on Earth... but now he's bored/depressed without any specific goal.
Saitama has a contradictory connection to the world too. Berserk Griffith): - He starts as a very "side character" compared to important figures in the Berserk world. Yet he proves to be a threat/factor.
- His goal is formulated mostly in terms of the outside world. To rule, to have a kingdom. "Griffith's goal has always been intrinsically tied to humanity and politics." (c.) PixelDemise. Outside world pushes him to the ultimate action: sacrificing everyone for his dream.
- He's polite and... "chill". Great charisma. Even though the world of Berserk is harsh.
- On one hand, he is immersed in the world of politics. On another hand, he is in the campy company of the Hawk. On one hand, he dreams about a kingdom. On another hand, he forgets his dreams because of Guts. = Outside world interestingly overlaps with the personal world.
- Unlike others, Griffith does have an explicit goal/agenda. It is still vague, though.
https://preview.redd.it/xjl03dfr69ra1.png?width=172&format=png&auto=webp&s=c0dca41a3979727e1dc8bfcd561db3d4860dc97f Undertale Sans) is one of the farthest outliers, but he's got this: - An extremely intelligent and observant "side character". The weakest monster and the most overpowered threat.
- Forced to fight by a very strange world. Against a very strange world. By "strange" I mean resetting, consuming timelines.
- Always "polite" (on a deep level), i.e. mostly unfazed by the most strange and most horrible events. Never rules out your last chance to be a good person. Has unconditional compassion, even if it was caused by a promise.
- Lonely, but has a ton of friends. Combines a regular citizen and... a science researcher / holder of esoteric knowledge.
- Unbreakable will and seeming laziness.
He's got that "contradictory connection to the outside world". But he probably has another major theme which may overshadow this. https://preview.redd.it/gk6emuvp69ra1.png?width=90&format=png&auto=webp&s=f2b78a57dbcd28c517f0f7f325e5228e21f25490 Guts I think Guts) is a rare character in fiction. Here're some of his dynamics I can think of: - Dynamic 1. He lives in the ruins of his past personal world.
- Dynamic 2. He lives in the ruins of his past relationships.
- Dynamic 3. He looks for a part of his past personal world. A part of his past relationships. Why? To get revenge or some other important transformation.
- Dynamic 4. Guts is ready to fight the entire world. Even though he doesn't care about the fight itself.
I think Guts is similar to Zagreus) from the game Hades 2020. Zagreus has a much nicer version of the story: - Zagreus lives in the ruins of his possible personal world.
- Zagreus lives in the ruins of his possible relationships (with his parents).
- Zagreus looks for a part of his past personal world. A part of his [possible] past relationships. To restore what "could have been".
- Zagreus is ready to fight the entire Underworld. Even though he doesn't care about the fight itself.
Instead of looking for Griffith, Zagreus is looking for his mother. Who had to hide/be hidden. The overarching theme is "struggler". Strugglers Schnoz Schnoz ... Characters like Schnoz are created by those dynamics: - Sniff.
- Sneeze.
- Exhale.
- Appeadisappear.
- Suck you in/suck you out.
The overarching theme is "vacuum control". https://preview.redd.it/025yxsfm69ra1.png?width=182&format=png&auto=webp&s=be70c002ad7760fb81476cbf851321fe156e6301 submitted by Smack-works to Berserk [link] [comments] |

2023.04.01 12:38 Grantmitch1 Can a change of agency change my contractual terms?
Hey guys,
So I probably have a niche query. I initially moved into my house a few years ago with Agency A. They ran the house as a normal HMO and I signed a contract on that basis, which now rolls over month to month. The landlord has since changed agencies, who now run the house as a sort of HMO-cum-self-catered hotel with irregular guests. I have never signed a new contract.
I recently received an email from them indicating that they are using a new energy policy which stipulates that I cannot use an electric heater, gaming system, etc. Would I be correct in assuming that this is bollocks and doesn't apply to me or can they enforce that?
Any advice would be grand.
EDIT: I am in England.

2023.04.01 12:35 moondog151 "The Huang Yanqiu Incident" A rural villager would on three separate occasions go missing after going to bed only to wake up in a major city thousands of miles away and arrived in the city faster than he should've been possible given the distance.
| Huang Yanqiu was born in 1956 in Dongbeigao Village in China's Hebei province. Little is known about his early life aside from the fact that he worked as a farmer in the village and his mother passed away while he was a child. Huang Yanqiu On July 27, 1977, Huang was 21 years old and still working as a farmer. Huang was recently engaged and planned on marrying his fiancee after the harvest season and the couple recently began building themselves a new home. At 10:00 PM Huang had just finished his farm work for the day and went to bed in his unfinished home. That was the last anyone had seen of Huang for a while as the next morning when the village woke up on July 28 Huang was nowhere to be found. The village was greatly alarmed by Huang's disappearance and initiated a massive search effort to try and find him but there was no trace of Huang anywhere to be found. This worried and confused the villagers especially Huang's family as Huang never travelled far and only had a primary school level education. They searched the surrounding roads, ponds, cliffs and other unknown locations to try and find him and even contacted the nearest hospitals and police to ask if any unidentified bodies had been discovered but to no avail. Fortunately, Huang would be found alive and unharmed but this only resulted in more questions. 10 days later on August 6 the village committee received a telegram from Shanghai. The telegram said that Huang was being held at a deportation center and that they were hoping for a local to come and pick him up. The telegram was late to arrive because it was accidentally addressed to the wrong village. There was just one problem, the telegram from Shanghai was dated at 9:AM on July 28 less than half a day after his disappearance. Huang was later returned by the police in Shanghai and it was indeed Huang. There was just one problem, Huang being in Shanghai that soon should've been impossible. Huang was questioned by his fellow villagers and he could not provide an answer. According to him, he went to bed and when at 6:00 or 7:00 AM he was awoken by a loud noise, this noise wasn't that of the farm animals but instead the sounds of vehicles and numerous people. When he fully awoke he found himself on a sidewalk and that around him were cars, neon lights and tall buildings/skyscrapers. He wondered around and saw writing on the various buildings and businesses which said things such as "Nanjing Shopping Center", "Nanjing Restaurant", and "Nanjing Pharma" and that nearby was a large "swimming pool" which he later found out was Lake Xuanwu. It didn't take Huang long to realize that somehow he was in Nanjing the capital city of Jiangsu Province located 485 miles away from his home village. While Huang who was now in complete and utter shock at his circumstance walked aimlessly around the unfamiliar city until he was stopped and approached by two police officers. Huang due to his state of shock and disbelief could barely answer their questions. When they asked Huang what he was doing or who he was he simply said that he was "really lost" the two officers led Huang to the Nanjing Rail Station and gave him a ticket to Shanghai and told Huang that they would be waiting for him and once he arrived he'd be taken to a "repatriation camp" for migrants and those without a hukou document. Huang not knowing what else to do and being in no position to disobey or resist bordered the train. 4 hours later the train pulled into Shanghai station and Huang headed out for the first police station he could find and to his confusion, the exact same police officers from Nanjing were already waiting for him despite being out of their jurisdiction, not boarding the train before him and most of all the train was the fastest method available at the time to travel between the two cities and the officers did not bored the train. Arriving to Shanghai before Huang should be straight-up impossible. The two officers refused to let Huang enter the police station in Shanghai and instead dropped Huang off at the repatriation camp in Shanghai. Huang first told his story to a PLA soldier at the camp named Lü Qingtang and added the detail that the police officers in question were likely from Shandong province based on the ticket he was given. Huang stayed in the camp much longer than expected as when Huang woke up in Nanjing he didn't have any of his identity documents and when the telegrams were sent out to the village to come collect Huang they erroneously addressed them to Xinzhai Village instead of Dongbeigao Village. The confusion was only cleared up after Huang was identified via a birthmark and because the PLA soldier Huang talked to had relatives in the village. As mentioned any questions the villagers had were multiplied as opposed to answered. Huang arriving in Nanjing that soon should be impossible. At the time trains in China were too slow to make such a fast trip. The nearest rail station was in the city of Handan which Huang would've had to find his way to in the dark despite having never even been to Handan before. But even if he did make it to Handan all by himself with next to no money the train would take 1 whole day to reach Nanjing as opposed to the 9-10 hours between when Huang went to sleep and when he woke up. And this is without taking into account the waiting time for the train to arrive at Haidan station and trains were notoriously late back them sometimes even being held back by an entire day and tickets were expensive. Other methods of transportation also wouldn't work out. Planes and civilian aviation travel in China was still very new and of course expensive. The entirety of Hebei Province only had a tiny handful of airports with the closest one being in the north near Beijing located on the complete opposite side of Hebei from where Huang lived. It was deemed highly unlikely for Huang to make the trip there by himself especially as he wouldn't know the way and even if he did somehow make it to the airport there would still be the issue of paying for a ticket. A car also wouldn't work as nobody in Dongbeigao village owned a vehicle and even having a bicycle was considered immensely expensive and outside the means of the villagers. And even if he could use any of these methods it still wouldn't explain the short time as to even get from Dongbeigao village to the nearest city Handan would take 4 hours to drive from the village to the city by car. There was also the question of why Huang would assuming he wasn't lying would do this. Huang had never mentioned Nanjing or Shanghai at any point prior and the fact that leaving their ancestral village and families was frowned upon. How Huang made it to Nanjing in such a short amount of time is unknown but most villagers were prepared to accept it as a strange oddity and move on while others dismissed Huang as lying or bragging about visiting a city. That was until it happened again. On September 8, 1977, it was harvest season in the village again and Huang and his fellow villagers were made to do backbreaking work during a meeting held by the village cadres. At 10:00 PM the head of the village gave Huang and a few other villagers permission to leave and go to bed early as long as they send and deliever manure/fertilizer the next morning. They all took the cadres up on this offer and went to sleep. The next morning on September 9 the villagers arrived at the fertiliser storage area only to notice that Huang was missing. Thinking that he had overslept they all went to his house only to find it empty. Something different caught their eye however, Carved into his bedroom wall was a message and that message said "Shandong Gao Dengmin, Gao Yanjin Relax" Just like the last time Huang was in Shanghai and was quickly sent back to the village on September 11 and this time there were witnesses both in Shanghai and Dongbeigao. A majority of the village witnessed Huang go to his house and sleep before his disappearance the next morning and just like with his first disappearance Huang couldn't explain it. According to Huang, he woke up at The Shanghai Rail Station due to a cold breeze, the same one the two mysterious police officers sent him to. Huang was again startled by his surroundings as it was the middle of the night and according to the Station's clock tower, it was 2:00 AM and as far as Huang could see there were no other people and the only light came from the stars and moon. Not only had Huang unknowingly travelled a far distance in an impossibly short time but he also did it at an inopportune time because along with the darkness Huang was constantly startled by the sound of thunder, lighting and battered by heavy rain and high winds because Typhon Babe had recently made landfall near Shanghai. Huang who was now even more terrified than he was before could only think of Lü Qingtang, Lü was the PLA soldier who helped him after his first trip to Shanghai and was the one who ultimately helped him return home due to his relatives in the village. Lü was not only the only person Huang could think to help him but he was also the only person he knew at all in Shanghai. Finding Lü was not going to be easy as Huang wouldn't be able to navigate Shanghai at all let alone during a typhoon in the middle of the night with no people in sight. As Huang began to walk he heard a voice coming from behind him hearing a man say "Hello there, you must be Huang Yanqiu of Feixiang County. Trying to head to the artillery division?" this shocked him immensely and he quickly turned back to see who this person was. When he turned around he saw two men dressed in military uniforms. They told Huang that they were soldiers belonging Lü's division and were assigned to pick him up from the railway station. Huang followed the men who took various ferries and buses before arriving at the "artillery division" located in what is today the Pudong District. Despite how heavily guarded the area is the guards let Huang and the two men pass without issue. They then went to where Lü lived with his family and they were completely shocked to see them as well as Huang again. Lü however, wasn't home at the time. His wife Li Yuying was surprised that the three were even at their home because according to Li "When a relative comes to visit, they have to show their legal documents and sign in at the gate, we'll then come down and confirm their identities, then they can finally be let in. No way the guards and soldiers would let them in without any proceedings!" and years later Lü's son when questioned about the case would say that the two solider's uniforms looked off, he commented that . "...their uniforms looked quite the ordinary, yet not very fitting, especially their visors. One's shoes and visor are the most important part of the uniform,... their visors were too big, and their uniforms seem to have been borrowed, too." Before his family could question the two they simply walked away and couldn't be found again. Huang being at the base was a major security violation and officials interrogated the guards on duty who all claimed to have never seen Huang and the two soldiers at any point. Once Lü returned home another telegram was sent directly to the head of Dongbeigao Village and they wanted to know every last detail about Huang and who exactly he was with the telegram even straight up asking if Huang was a spy. They received a response from the head of the village, telling them that Huang was just a farmer with no ill intent. Without any other information, the army decided to send Huang back to the village but sternly warned him that he'd be arrested if they ever see him again. He returned home on September 11. In their official reports the military was unable to explain how Huang got to Shanghai so quickly and managed to get into the base. Due to the multitude of witnesses testifying that Huang went to sleep in the village and the military confirming that he was in Shanghai all those who felt that Huang was lying about his travels soon had their doubts erased. Huang became the most talked about resident of the village and not in a good way as he became the main subject of all the local gossip, rumours and of course superstitions. Many thought that he was possessed or haunted with that being the reason for his seemingly supernatural speed and ability to travel such short distances. The constant attention took a mental toll on Huang's fiance who sued his family for 200 yuan due to "reputational damages" and divorced him. This financially and emotionally ruined Huang and it was when he was at his lowest that the third and final incident happened. Huang continued his work as a farmer and labourer for the village and on September 20, 1977, he had finished his work for the day and began walking home. According to Huang, however, so tired that he ended up passing out in the yard in front of his house and went missing again. He would stay missing until September 28 when he was found under a Jujube tree in the village and when asked where he had been he told them about the most extraordinary story yet. According to him, after he passed out in front of his home he woke up and instead of on the sidewalk or in a deserted train station during typhoon season he instead found himself in a luxury hotel room. He looked around and behind him, he saw the same two men from the first two incidents. This time, however, they were both dressed in civilian clothing and introduced themselves. They told Huang that they were brothers from Shandong Province and identified themselves as Gao Dengmin, 26, and Gao Yanjin, 25. Huang also estimated that they were around 170 cm tall. They told Huang that they were the cause behind his disappearances and that they dressed as police and soldiers to help him find his way home, they said that they had something special planned for Huang and that during the next 9 days, they would take him to 9 major cities. Huang asked where he was right now and the brothers told him that it was still September 20 and that he was in Lanzhou located in China's Gansu Province the furthest he has ever been from home. A composite sketch of the two created by the police Soon Huang would learn how he had travelled so far so quickly because the next day on September 21 they made Huang climb onto their back and as Huang would later state "They took off" and quite literally flew away with just their bodies. Huang said that they were "flying" at a low altitude and that he didn't feel any wind, he also recounted that the brothers took turns carrying him on their back. In over an hour, the three had arrived in Beijing. They first went to the Chang'an Grand Theater without tickets and just like at the army base nobody stopped them. They watched an opera performance of Forced Onto Mt. Liang. Their next stop was Tiananmen Square and were in front of a Huabiao. The brothers who were now speaking standard Mandarin instead of their dialects introduced Huang to the surrounding areas and checked into a hotel showing the staff a "provincial-level introduction letter" for registration. That same day they then flew to Tianjin where they snuck into a movie theatre without tickets and watched a movie. On September 22 they arrived in Harbin located in Heilongjiang Province. In Harbin, they visited a department store and then visited Changchun in Jilin Province. On September 23 they went to Shenyang in Liaoning Province. On September 25 they visited Fuzhou in Fujian Province before visiting Nanjing. They spend the next day in Nanjing. On September 27 they visited Xi'an in Shaanxi Province for the Mid-Autumn Festival. Also on September 27, they made their last stop returning to Lanzhou. When Huang went to sleep in their hotel room he woke up under the jujube tree mentioned earlier and was back in Dongbeigao Village They travelled to every city via the brothers flying and according to Huang no matter how close or how far the city was the time it took to get there was always 1 hour. He also noted that the brothers could speak the local dialects of all the provinces they visited and whenever they went to hotels the brothers always had a "provincial-level introduction letter". One of the brothers always watched Huang while the other would borrow clothing such as police or military uniforms from somewhere Huang didn't know. Clothing and yuan for the accommodations and meals were the only items the brothers carried as they didn't seem to own items such as bags and wallets. Aside from their ability to fly to anywhere they wanted and their strange behaviour such as only carrying clothes and money, Huang said that they were seemingly normal human beings in every other aspect and ate and slept like anyone else. They also had the same body temperature as anyone else would The only rules they seemed to have were that Huang was not allowed to photograph them or anything and he couldn't keep any souvenirs from his trips. When Huang asked why they singled him out they wouldn't respond and when he asked if they could teach him how to fly like them or tell him how they learnt to do it they gave a firm "No" as their answer. Just as they had told him in the 9 days he was missing they had visited 9 different cities. A map of his travels Huang was the talk of the village all over again and the superstitions that gods or ghosts were responsible continued. Eventually, the gossip around Huang had gotten to the point that the local police, propaganda department and the nearest military base had heard of Huang's story and began a very extensive investigation into Huang. Offical's believed that he was purposefully sabotaging the village's production and reputation and proceeded to classify him as a "class enemy" While being interrogated his behaviour was found to be "normal" and he showed no signs of mental illness or cognitive disorders. After they were unable to find any evidence of Huang being a threat they reluctantly let him go and revoked his "class enemy" status. Huang's story became well known throughout China and is one of the country's most famous alleged paranormal events and even the government officially declares his case as "unexplained" This is not the end of Huang's story though. On December 14, 2004, the case was reinvestigated by Zhang Jingping, an investigator of the Beijing Branch of the China UFO Association, Ji Jianmin, the chairman of the Feixiang UFO Association, and Dr. Wu, a famous Chinese hypnotist, professor of Peking University Medical Department. There was rather conclusive evidence of Huang's first two incidents as numerous witnesses as well as official telegrams all confirm that Huang had gone to sleep in his home village only to appear in Shanghai but there was far more doubt as to if he had been to any of the cities mentioned during his third disappearance. Huang was put under hypnosis and asked what happened and he told the doctor the same story he did back in 1977. Huang eventually woke up from the hypnotic state claiming that one of the two brothers made him wake up. In 2004 a documentary was made by CCTV and several interviews and tests were conducted during the documentary. He was subjected to a polygraph test and he ended up failing the test and Huang refused to accept these results. Those administering the tests also admitted that Huang's declining memory, the 27-year gap between the test and the incident and the stress of being subjected to such a test for the first time may affect the results. During the documentary, the police based on Huang's descriptions also created composite sketches of Gao Dengmin and Gao Yanjin. Due to the advancement in China's transportation infrastructure, Huang was brought to Nanjing and he was able to retrace his steps and attempt to recreate his journey from the sidewalk to the former then non-existent military base. They then brought Huang to the physiatric division of Beijing Anding Hospital where the lead doctor after reading his statements said that the brothers would've been travelling at supersonic speeds and that Huang had been sleepwalking or lying. Although nobody defended him from claims of sleepwalking his fellow villagers all refused to entertain the possibility that Huang was purposefully lying to them. They cited Huang's lack of motivation or ability to travel, how he travelled to Shanghai in such a short amount of time and how he had no reason to lie about it since telling his story caused him to become a laughing stock and lost him his fiance. Huang quite literally gain nothing from telling this story and it severely affected him negatively. Aside from a lack of evidence others supporting the lying theory state that Huang only claimed to have visited major cities prompting some to speculate that he just picked them out from a map and that oddly enough he never visited Shijiazhuang which is the capital of Hebei, the province that Huang actually lives in. Huang was examined by other psychologists and mental health professionals who deemed Huang to be sane which is the source of the sleepwalking theory. As this theory suggests, Huang was sleepwalking when he made his way to Nanjing and that the stories of the two brothers were just dreams he had while sleepwalking. Various Chinese netizens don't view this theory as credible since Huang while sleepwalking would need to either walk all the way to the train station in Handan (which would take 4 hours to drive to by car) and buy a tick with money he didn't have all while asleep. And while still sleeping once the train stopped in Zhengzhou he would've sleepwalked onto the next train to Shanghai all with nobody noticing he was sleepwalking and waking him up. Just to be sure though doctors performed an MRI scan of Huang's brain and the results came back normal. The third theory is that Huang suffered from multiple personality disorder and that Gao Dengmin and Gao Yanjin were in fact Huang himself and that he just perceived them as different people due to his disorder. The Gao personalities are the ones that actually travel to the locations only for Huang's normal personality to take over once he arrives at the destination hence him waking up. This theory also states that Huang flying on their backs is actually just a fantasy of Huang Yanqiu's repressed personality. This theory doesn't stand up to scrutiny as various Mental Health officials have found Huang sane and that he would've shown signs of multiple personality disorder before and after the three incidents. This theory also wouldn't explain the short travel times and Lü Qingtang's wife and son also witnessing the two as separate people. There is one more theory though it is from those who want to believe that it is all real and that Huang is telling the truth and that UFOs may be involved. They looked further into Huang's claims to try and find any proof that he was in the cities mentioned during his third disappearance. According to one source when describing the weather they matched up with geological data at the time but this appears to be unconfirmed. A journalist went to the Chang'an Grand Theater in Beijing to look through their records and see if they ever held the same performance Huang claimed to have seen. He discovered that the theatre closed due to the 1976 Tangshan Earthquake and wouldn't reopen until 1979 meaning that Huang could not have seen any performances in that theatre. However, there was another theatre nearby named the Jixiang Theater and they were open in 1977 and on September 21, 1977, the day Huang claimed to be in Beijing they held a performance of Forced Onto Mt. Liang. This journalist ruled that Huang hailing from a small and rural village could've easily confused two nearby and similar theatres in an unfamiliar environment such as the major city of Beijing. There are also those who agree that Huang travelled at nearly supersonic speeds but instead have a more terrestrial explanation and that Huang fell victim to military experimentation. This theory states that the military flew Huang to these cities for various experiments and that the Gao brothers were high-ranking officials in charge of the experiments. They then drugged Huang and made him undergo hypnosis to make him forget what he experienced. Many are skeptical of this theory because if the Chinese government wanted to conduct human experimentation they had a myriad of death row inmates and political prisons to draw upon so why instead abduct an innocuous rural farmer from his small village? "The Huang Yanqiu Incident" remains one of China's most infamous unsolved mysteries but as of now, there have been no new developments as a now 67-year-old Huang has opted to live a quiet life in his village away from the cameras.
On July 27, 1977, Huang was 21 years old and still working as a farmer.
Something different caught their eye however, Carved into his bedroom wall was a message and that message said "Shandong Gao Dengmin, Gao Yanjin Relax"
Just like the last time Huang was in Shanghai and was quickly sent back to the village on September 11 and this time there were witnesses both in Shanghai and Dongbeigao.
One's shoes and visor are the most important part of the uniform,... their visors were too big, and their uniforms seem to have been borrowed, too."
Before his family could question the two they simply walked away and couldn't be found again.
Soon Huang would learn how he had travelled so far so quickly because the next day on September 21 they made Huang climb onto their back and as Huang would later state "They took off" and quite literally flew away with just their bodies.
When Huang went to sleep in their hotel room he woke up under the jujube tree mentioned earlier and was back in Dongbeigao Village
They travelled to every city via the brothers flying and according to Huang no matter how close or how far the city was the time it took to get there was always 1 hour.
Huang was the talk of the village all over again and the superstitions that gods or ghosts were responsible continued.
During the documentary, the police based on Huang's descriptions also created
composite sketches of Gao Dengmin and Gao Yanjin.
This theory also wouldn't explain the short travel times and Lü Qingtang's wife and son also witnessing the two as separate people.

With the killer main event that is in place, Death to Juniors will surely be appreciative of fighting on their own home turf, but don’t let that distract you from the 16 other fabulous talents in the running. Looking for a way to cooldown after the show? Hit up our latest stock of JOHN Bombs – the bath bombs that’ll peel all your worries off your skin! With grand matches and sizzling returns ahead of us, let’s dive right into the lava pool!
Non-Title: FBE World Heavyweight Champion Inferno vs Sebastian King The issues between the FBE World Heavyweight Champion and the youth have been a hot topic in recent months, bleeding into the headlines with his initial attack on current PROVINCE Leader T.M Imran. Whilst they’ve had two intensely personal matches since, a lot of bad blood still exists between the two sides, and tonight will be looking to take a deeper look at that when Inferno continues his crusade against the Trial Era as he takes on the Duke of Destruction, Sebastian King!
One of the figureheads of this new generation with his Cinderella run alongside Corey Youngblood as Tequila Inc. through last year’s Punish & Crush Tournament, the partnership producing a masterful duology against the reigning Tag Team Champions, and a promising continued rise up the ranks alongside his new stablemates, he’s everything people want to be, and equally everything Baba Blitz wants to hate. One of the better all-rounders this company has seen, Sebastian’s got the tools to go from cooking foetuses inside a Steel Cage to grappling it out on the mat, so when making a welcome return to these holy lands, you best believe he won’t be leaving until Inferno’s door is kicked off its hinges!
Prompt: Rebook ECW Barely Legal (Max 1000 Words)
B Block: Joey Joey Siwa [0] vs Nate Matthews [0] Despite a fantastic performance in his first tournament match two weeks ago, Joey Joey Siwa fell narrowly short of his first 2 points, and yet, it’s a defeat that should have his blockmates more concerned for their own safety. Already revealing once what he looks like when reaching his darkest depths, a JJS starved of success is not a JJS one wants to deal with, a pizza cutter primed to slice through anyone that defies him. With the Nebraskan now officially let loose in the wild, there is perhaps but one man who may boast the experience of putting down the world’s deadliest, and that’s his next B Block opponent, Nate Matthews!
Emerging from the plains of Tijuana, the Living Legend’s a product of one of the most dangerous cities in the world, and if his body of work over the last 4 years is anything to go by, he won’t hesitate to gut those standing in his way and bleed them dry. Rounding out the group of guys yet to make their Shining Light League debuts, Nate surely has his eyes on yet another championship and tournament win, but if Siwa has anything to say about it, it's going to be a bumpy ride to the top!
Prompt: Book Dragon Lee's NXT run (Max 1000 Words)
Mark Steel vs Ferdinand Maxim Fresh off a career highlight win last week, Mark Steel continues to stun the world with his ability to pull one off in a pinch, proving exactly why you should never count anyone out when Pure Rules are in effect. Blitz taking place around parts he’s rather familiar with himself, the Death to Juniors member has made a special request to wrestle on home territory to stay hot ahead of his final two block matches, so leave it up to none other than a returning Ferdinand Maxim to answer that challenge! A somewhat precursor of sorts to Steel with his time as part of the famed Collective, the Wild Wester is exactly the type of fella that Mark’s agenda wants a piece of, his Junior Heavyweight stylings meaning the guillotine is primed and ready. With a much lengthier tenure to his name though, experience lies in Le Prince de Paris’s corner, so expect nothing short of an interesting battle between two proud representatives of contrasting generations!
Prompt: Book FTR's WWE return if they lose to The Gunns (Max 1000 Words)
D Block: Erick Koeman [0] vs Kentaro Sakamoto [0] Even after just one night of it, D Block’s been nothing short of wildly competitive, in part owed to the level of talent brimming from all 5 of its components. It’s also been a prime location for faction warfare, everyone repping a different allegiance in the fight, adamant to bring home the trophy to their group. When it comes to Erick Koeman and Kentaro Sakamoto, one of each shimmering example from PROVINCE and PROSPECT respectively are tossed into the middle for a battle of supremacy between the leading ‘P’ factions of recent times, a truckload of pride riding on this one. El Cráneo has a lot on his plate at the moment, having to balance the Punish & Crush Tournament with the Shining Light League, which could potentially leave him stretched just thin enough for the Flying Dutchman to blow him out the water, though leave it to a hitman to fire two bullets at once, tonight about to prove whether his aim is as true as is to be believed!
Prompt: Rebook Jay White in IMPACT (Max 1000 Words)
B Block: Hunter Maguire [2] vs FBE World Tag Team Champion Capital STEEZ [2] Perhaps the most important match of the tournament thus far is the one up next as for the first time, two competitors with wins under their belt collide, making this a battle for the top of B Block! No shortage of history between Death to Juniors and Capital STEEZ, their animosities dating back to the Anniversary Show when King Capital teamed with surprising ally “Godfather of Pure Rules” Atlas Rogue against Hunter Maguire and Joshua Epps in winning effort, those issues were only punctuated last week as DTJ’s Misery stunned the FBE World Tag Team Champion in an upset, bringing his 2023 record against the group to 1-1. Fighting in their very home grounds here, there’s no better place for STEEZ to deliver a chilly helping of revenge, but when made to be a relative fish out of water, the burning question on everyone’s minds is whether Maguire knows something about this place that STEEZ doesn’t, Hunter’s cunning a massive asset to him here as traps lay abound!
Prompt: Rebook Edge and Christian's 2001 Rivalry (Max 1000 Words)
ICON vs Happy When the Pure Division was initially launched almost a year ago, one man that came calling back to participate was the Aviator himself, ICON, managing to net a shot at the throne in his short time here. One of the more accomplished to set foot in FBE, picking up the Television, World Tag Team, and Junior Heavyweight Championships in rapid succession back in the day, he’s fought for every active championship and each time given every champion a match they’ll never forget. But for a competitor like him, that’s not enough. Making his full-time return to Blitz action tonight, he’s got the Pure Championship on his mind, and he’ll stop at nothing to make it his!
But what lies ahead is perhaps the toughest possible first match back as standing in his way is a competitor that’s proven his efficacy under this ruleset many a time – Happy! A true Trial Era pillar, the Clown was the first of his batch to win the World Heavyweight Championship, that too as his first title in the company, which hasn’t been done since the first champion was crowned in FBE. Competing at an unmatched level throughout 2022, even main eventing BTE, he’s the perfect candidate to test what ICON still has in the tank after a lengthy hiatus whilst proving 2022 was just the beginning of what we’ll see from the monster that resides under your bed!
Prompt: Book the RAW after WrestleMania 39 (Max 1000 Words)
D Block: Joshua Epps [2] vs FBE Junior Heavyweight Champion Misery [0] One of the more exciting times in the year is when two factions go head-to-head with all their manpower to quell the debate of which one is undisputedly better. What’s arguably even more thrilling though are the rarer instances in which two members of the same fight are forced to put their friendship aside in their respective quests for championships. For Death to Juniors, that’s no unfamiliar situation, last year’s Gedo Classic Finals seeing Misery and Hunter Maguire come to blows over the vacant FBE Junior Heavyweight Championship in one of the division’s standout matches that year. By that merit, what’s to come between Joshua Epps and Misery right here can only be anticipated as something very, very special.
Both on unquestionably killer (pun intended) runs, God’s Greatest Athlete recording a recent brilliant Television Championship reign and continually being a standout fixture here on Blitz as seen with his fantastic performance in last week’s main event, and Misery mere days away from the breaking the title reign length record with her Junior Title, ruling over the division with an iron fist whilst proving herself just as competent under Pure Rules given her godly win in last week’s opener, there’s no doubt that something special is to go down here between the two. And fighting in front of Pop Hodges himself, expect no punches to be pulled between great allies but perhaps even better foes as both look to impress the legend in what’s surely to be an exhilarating showdown between DTJ’s leading members!
Prompt: Book Josh Alexander's return from injury (Max 1000 Words)
Bookings are due on April 3rd at 11PM EST, so don’t forget to submit timely and/or report any issues with prompts and deadlines before then. But until then, keep up the fantastic work lads. Pure rules.

The
new class(es) in the expansion are going to be
the Immortal and Shadow - both classes will have 2 "variations" so it's more like 4 classes (really 2 with much more skill diversity among them)
The first class, the Immortal is a Damage Support Hybrid class hailing from Westmarch that has "devotion" as their resource. Followers of the church of light and sworn protectors of Sanctuary.
They are divided into 2 factions which you can choose after completing their starting quest, at which point you are sent from Westmarch to Kyovashad to assist the church of light.
the first faction you may choose is
"The Protectors" who follow the
will of Kion and are tasked with guarding sanctuary from outside or internal threats, and are overly zealous in this regard.

2023.04.01 11:13 FastPatience1595 "Lo que paso en Santiago" - my Scarface / BCS crossover headcanon.
( I had a lot of fun writting this.)
"
Todos es negocio, eh ? Y lo que paso en Santiago, tambien es negocio ?" (Lalo Salamanca, to Juan Bolsa - 2003)
The Juarez Cartel was created in 1984 to avenge Tony Montana (Scarface) death.
It was created by relatives (estranged twins, mostly)) of: the late Alberto "the Shadow", the late Manny Ribera, and Tony Montana's very own mother (three same actors & actresses in
Scarface and
Better Call Saul:
Mark Margolis,
Steven Bauer &
Miriam Colon).
Manny Ribera estranged twin brother was not supposed to work for the Juarez Cartel. He was a mexican tequila tycoon who had invented the Zafiro Anejo tequila recipe. He took the name "Don Eladio" as an hommage to a famous Mexican tequila tycoon (check the link below: amazing, isn't it ?)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Eladio Together they wanted to avenge Tony Montana death at the hands of Alejandro Sosa mercenaries.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alejandro_Sosa Sosa was from Bolivia, and that country shares a border with Chile. And since 1978 the two countries were not in particularly good terms.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolivia%E2%80%93Chile_relations The Juarez Cartel thus hired John Sack... Juan Bolsa and moved to Chile to hire mercenaries and raid Sosa compound across the border to kill him.
But they needed political and financial backup from Pinochet: and there came Gustavo Fring, Max, Peter Schuler and his Madrigal Gmbh. In the 1970's Schuler had created the chilean branch of Madrigal Gmbh through old nazis there, and met Gustavo Fring and his young lover Max Arciniega (I have this sneaking suspicion Gus and Peter may have been lovers too, remember their conversations in the hotel room with Lydia).
After the 9-11-1973 coup against Allende, a young Gus Fring rapidly ascended through the ranks of Pinochet's military establishment. He ended well connected to Pinochet inner circle too. And yes, a young Gus Fring may have been witness of the post-1973 torture and horrors, and this forged his vicious and sociopathic nature. It also put him in a quandary when he found he was gay: as Pinochet Opus Dei major ally ruled supreme and had little affection for homosexuals.
https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categor%C3%ADa:Miembros_del_Opus_Dei_de_Chile Pinochet accepted to help with killing Sosa as the drug kingpin planned to size power in Bolivia and he didn't wanted this to happen.
That team hired a standing army of mercenaries that were trained by Pinochet army deep in the jungle.
A day of 1985 those mercenaries successfully crossed the border into Bolivia, raided Sosa compound and killed him - avenging Tony Montana.
But on the way back they were ambushed by a very pissed off Bolivian Army that proceeded to wipe them out. Gus Fring radioed Pinochet for close air support: the Chilean Air Force Hawker Hunters then bombed the shit out of the bolivians and allowed the mercenaries to retreat across the border: to Chile.
But the Bolivian dictator was so angered, some days later as the mercenaries paraded on Santiago his own Air Force launched a low level attack on Santiago with Lockheed T-33s, which also escorted a cargo plane with a suicide squad of paratroopers. They turned Santiago into a an urban battlefield for many days until they were wiped out. A furious Pinochet told Fring to send his mercenaries to clean the mess but in the end it was the Chilean army that had to do most of the dirty job, with severe human losses in the streets of Santiago.
The whole situation ended as a bloody mess - that almost started a Bolivia- Chile border war.
So Pinochet told Fring, Max, Madrigal, Schuler and the Juarez Cartel to get out of his country; by 1986 they all moved to Mexico.
Three more years and Gus & Max had crafted a bold meth plan they pitched to Eladio - Bolsa - Hector... 1989: it ended very badly for Max Arcienaga. And it started Gus Fring revenge.
Eso es lo que paso en Santiago...
