Nothing exciting here as a public school teacher. My salary is fixed and the entire internet can figure out exactly how much I make. Next year I will apply to be a new teacher mentor to move over a lane (6% raise while I do the job). We won a great raise in our last contract so we can finally be paid almost as much as everyone around us!
This is my 5th year teaching but am on step 6 of 11 due to a full year internship.

Why typically?

• in December we get a premium holiday (1/2 medical deduction)
• I also run an outdoors club at work, which I am paid $35/hr when I run the club and additional pay for certain trips (last month I was paid $375 alone for our annual weekend overnight before vacation). I’m just a stay-at-home boyfriend who keeps to himself and tries to live quietly and comfortably. I’m not super great at keeping up with a large amount of people, but I enjoy talking with and learning things about them.
I play a lot of video games, read the occasional book, and watch a lot of movies/shows. When I’m not doing that, I’m doing chores and cooking dinner and just generally taking care of things around the apartment.
I enjoy listening to music, and discovering new music!
I’m politically very left-wing and will not tolerate any right-wing fascist bullshit. Other than that I’ve been told I’m easy-going, and that’s how I try to be. I go into situations with a very laid back but alert attitude. I want to help people as much as I can.
I’m into collecting games. PS3 games are my main focus right now. But the PS1 is a big one too, as it was my first console way back in the late ‘90s. I collect other games as well, but my heart is full of PS1 and PS3 nostalgia. I’m also getting into collecting toys I had growing up. It’s just nice re-connecting with a part of my life that I don’t really have a lot of detailed memories of. Plus, it’s also nice to look at my shelves and pick out something and look at it and remember.
You don’t have to be into games to chat, but that is the one topic I’m most knowledgeable in, so it helps.
I’m down to talk about anything. Politics, life, ideas, memories… whatever you want. If you are passionate about a topic, I’d love to hear about it.

THE SEA HAWK (1940)
​
The Sea Hawk is a 1940 black-and-white swashbuckling/adventure movie directed by Michael Curtiz, starring Errol Flynn, Brenda Marshall, Claude Rains and Flora Robson. Plans for the movie were announced by Warner Brother's Studios immediately following the success of Captain Blood (1935), again teaming up Flynn and Curtiz for the now 10th time, but not before filming and releasing The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) in between. As with "Blood", the screenplay is based off the novel of the same name by Rafael Sabitini, with changes being made to both the overall story, as well as Flynn's character in general, using the exploits of the historic Sir Francis Drake as inspiration, more than that of the original source material. The story takes us back into the late 17th century, focusing on an impending war between the Great Spanish Empire and the lesser Kingdom of England. Having recently conquered the treasure laden South and Central American Empires, Phillip the 2nd of Spain now wishes to subdue the whole of Northwest Europe, starting with England, but must wait some Months before his naval Armada can be built. Elizabeth the 1st of England (elegantly played by Flora Robson), decides to secretly commission a group of English privateers known as the "Sea Hawks", lead by Sir Roger Thorpe (Flynn), to attack and plunder the Spanish treasure galleons returning from America, denying Phillip the funds necessary to build his Armada. The side plots focus on Flynn falling in love with the daughter of the Spanish Ambassador to England (played by Brenda Marshall and Claude Raines respectively), as well as a discontent member of court, Lord Wolfingham (a classic Donald Crisp role), planning with the Spanish Ambassador behind the Queen's back to undermine the Sea Hawks. It's also worth mentioning the brilliant character work by Alan Hale, Una O'Connor, and others, putting the cherry on top of the acting department. With the movie being made during WWII, the entire theme of the story is evidently Pro British propaganda, showing England and the rest of the world suffering under the brutal might of Spain, in place of Nazi-Germany. The movie is full of flamboyant and realistic period drama costuming (re-used from "The Private Lives of Elizabeth of Essex"), as well as being packed with epic scale practical effects, featuring two full size sailing ships going to bat with each other on multiple occasions (guns, cannons, swords, bodies flying into the water, the works), all filmed on the old Warner Bros. Maritime Stage. Also noteworthy in this movie is Erich Wolfgang Korngold's very emotionally driven inspiring theme, which was considered a true high point in his career and served as one of the main inspirations for the all time great composer John Williams. With all of this brilliantly wrapped up together by the great Michael Curtiz, "The Sea Hawk" (1940) is a top line old time pirate movie, a true must watch for fans of retro cinema.

OUTLINE OF THE MOVIES
A detailed outline of plot-lines, changes and in-universe connections.

The Batman:

The Plot: This events of this movie would stay exactly the same.
My Major Changes: Batman is in his fourth year in my version of the film, he's not an experienced veteran like Ben Affleck's interpretation, he still has a lot to learn, but he isn't totally inexperienced like in the film we got. This would be done in a similar way to The New 52. I believe that Pattinson can play a Batman who has sidekicks before, but after Jason's death, he becomes more emo, like in the movie we got.
Batman, in my DCEU, already had adopted Dick Grayson, Barbara Gordon, Jason Todd and Helena Bertinelli. Bruce hasn't adopted or even met Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown, Cassandra Cain, or Damian Wayne yet.
Dick Grayson left on extremely bad terms with Batman in a similar way to in the animated series episode "Old Wounds"
Jason Todd gets lured into a circus, similar to Titans, and is killed on live television by The Joker, similar to Earth-27.
Huntress left Bruce, due to the trauma of Jason Todd's death, since they were dating at the time, similar to Earth 27.
Barbara Gordon got shot in the spine and raped by The Joker, like in The Killing Joke storyline, it happened shortly before Jason got killed. Barbara doesn't become Oracle until a few months after the events of the first movie.
Batwoman is a cousin of Batman, and Bruce is aware of her activities.
This would be subtly mentioned in my version, and Dick leaving and Jason's death are a few additional reasons why Bruce acts like an edgelord and doesn't have that playboy persona anymore (at least until the sequels)
Batman, before the events of this film, has already fought The Joker, Killer Croc, Harley Quinn, Killer Moth, Deadshot, Poison Ivy and Ra's Al Ghul. There would be newspaper clippings that mention these off-screen encounters.
The Joker deleted scene is added in my version, to establish that he exists in this universe, if the post-credit scenes didn't do it already.
Metropolis and Queen Industries are mentioned during Bruce's meeting with Falcone. Setting up the larger DC Universe, in the future.
I would place emphasis that Batman is struggling to make change in Gotham on his own, without his sidekicks to assist him, he only has Alfred, Catwoman and Gordon to rely on, since Dick, Barbara, and Helena, have left on bad terms or to do their own thing in neighboring cities, and Jason is deceased (for now).
That also explains why Batman calls himself "Vengeance". He's on his own with barely anyone to help him, just like how he was when his parents died. (Aside from Alfred)
Bruce's utility belt gets blown up during the final battle. Which sets up him getting a more comic accurate one, in the future.
However, he still uses the adrenaline injection, and I'd later tie that to Bane and his venom formula, in a future movie as a prototype.

Superman: The Man Of Steel

The Plot - Act-1: I’d heavily change the opening, develop Zod more, and make a cleaner Krypton that actually has crystals covering the planet, just like in the comics and in Superman (1978)
(I'd replace General Zod with Metallo as the antagonist, because Zod has already appeared in Superman ll and Smallville, by 2013, so I'd use a new villain that never appeared on the big screen in Metallo, who only appeared on Smallville with a small budget and we never fully saw his robotic form. I'd save General Zod for the third movie)
We see a small meteor found in the ocean, near Metropolis, by Lex Luthor, with a glowing green substance.
We flashback to many years ago, Kal-El is born, they name him. We cut to General Zod who is sitting in his home alone, having violent flashbacks of robotic creatures with symbols on their foreheads attacking krypton, killing people, even Zod’s family, the flashbacks are brief, but just enough to see the Kryptonian council surrender to their attacker, a dome encloses over Kandor and make it disappear, but a pod flies away as Kandor disappears.
(That will set up Supergirl in Chapter 2, and Brainiac fighting Superman eventually)
Dru-Zod is haunted and angry about this traumatic event that happened ago. Jor-El is studying problems in the planet’s core, but their computers say everything is fine. Jor-El asks Zod to come with him to check a fault line, as a scientist needs to be accompanied by a soldier when going to the outer lands, to access military equipment or whatever, just as a soldier needs authorization by a scientist to access scientific equipment.
They talk, it’s clear they’re friends, Jor-El tells Zod about his son, happy for him. Suddenly a violent earthquake erupts, causing Jor-El to quickly check his readings. They’re off the charts. Jor-El and Zod quickly rushes back to his lab to check his main computers, which are all reading things as fine, he digs deeper into the programming and finds the same symbol that was on the robotic creatures head embedded into the computers programming, corrupting it.
Jor-El is horrified, Zod is furious, yelling about how that thing destroyed their families, their brightest city, and now it’s destroyed them, Zod blames the council for bowing to the thing and proclaims them weak. Jor-El warns the council, as Zod rallies any soldiers loyal to him to save their world while they still can, he does so easily, they attack the council headquarters and take them out, Zod finds Jor-El, and asks him to help him save their world through allowing access to The Codex.
The Codex is a computer chip, essentially it’s the brain, it has info on everything, from the genetic code from which all kryptonian children are created, to the entire history of Krypton and all its knowledge, and the how to build and operate a terraforming device called the World Engine, as such a thing has been illegal for a long time due to it requiring a planet with an already habitable environment and thus life.
(Brainiac would get the information about how to build and use The World Engine in a sequel)
Jor-El refuses Zod, saying he will not allow Zod to destroy an entire race. Jor-El escapes, accesses the codex, steals it and goes to Lara, telling her they have to leave. Jor-El has set a warning for the planet to give them time to escape, but doubts they’ll be able to as a military security system destroys any ship entering or leaving krypton, but Jor-El has a plan:
A space probe, small enough to sneak past the security systems, but big enough to carry maybe one person, or one person and a baby. The probe was designed to send robotic drones to other planets and test the planet’s atmosphere and environment. He sends Lara and Kal-El to the probe, and she goes, begrudgingly, as Jor-El gives her the codex and a special command key for the probe that will guide them when they get to earth, telling her he has to distract Zod’s men to keep them from the probe.
Lara is wounded fatally, from a plasma shot by one of Brainiac's drones, but she gets into the probe with Kal-El and takes off. She hides the codex in the main engine of the probe just before this happens.
Zod captures Jor-El, and sees the probe doing that teleporting thing, he puts two and two together and takes Jor-El prisoner, gets on a large ship with his army, and shuts down the security systems, so he can track the ion trail or whatever science mumbo jumbo before it dissipates.
Jor-El, though, has thought ahead, and damaged the teleportation device thing, making it so it would trap them in the “phantom zone” between the teleportation destinations, giving the trail time to dissipate so they can’t track it.
General Zod, Faora and Nam-Ek are all caught in the vortex, and sent to The Phantom Zone, by the teleportation device.
(General Zod and Faora will return in a future sequel)
Jor-El closes his eyes as he is caught in the planet destroying explosion, as we see Krypton blown to smithereens, as a green remnant goes through a radiation storm and crashes in The Atlantic Ocean. As we cut to Earth, where the probe crashes in Kansas at night, near a farm in winter, Jonathan and Martha come out. Lara, barely alive, opens the probe, by pulling the command key out, and they find her, Jonathan tries to save her, but she dies, her last words before passing away are asking them to protect her son.
Jonathan and Martha lie to a friend of theirs in the hospital by telling them that the baby had been left on their doorstep and asking him to write down that Martha had given birth to the baby over the winter, during a recent snowstorm.
Meanwhile, Clark Kent hitchhikes across Metropolis and starts working odd jobs, researching extraterrestrial sightings, and secretly using his powers to help people in need, which results in him having to hit the road again. Clark Kent starts developing journalistic skills as he talks to people and gathers information in his quest to figure out where he came from.
We flashback to Clark Kent's backstory, with Clark's parents trying to raise him right and help him control his powers. In the scene where Clark Kent asks his father in the original movie, which is "Should I have just let those kids on the bus die?".
Jonathan Kent tells Clark, no, and that he did the right thing, but he shouldn't expose his powers too much. During the scene, these flashbacks show that Jonathan Kent wants to keep his son Clark safe, but what kind of father would he be if he didn't encourage his son to do the right thing, even when it is hard?
Jonathan Kent is inspired by his son's selflessness and rushes in to help a lady that is about to be run over, and he succeeds, but the excitement and fear cause him to have a heart attack. Jonathan Kent gets rushed to the hospital by Martha Kent and Clark, but he dies. Years later, Martha says goodbye to Clark as he's moving to Metropolis.
Back in the present, Clark Kent goes to a bar to eat some food, but when he eats, Clark notices a drunk and rude Truck Driver harassing a female waitress.
Clark Kent hesitates a bit, but he notices no one else is stopping it, so he decides to do something about the situation. As the drunk and rude trucker is about to grab the woman inappropriately again, Clark Kent grabs his arm and he angrily tells him to leave the girl alone, which surprises the truck driver and makes him a bit scared.
However, Clark notices that his strength is hurting the man's arm, and in order to not expose his powers in front of people watching, he lets his hand go to show A bit of restraint, but Clark pushes his own to the floor, so he doesn't attack him. The truck driver gets back up from the floor and attempts to punch Clark, but Clark dodges the punch before he can be hit.
A few police officers notice the fight happen, and they decide to arrest the drunk trucker for intoxication and attempted assault against Clark Kent. Clark Kent gets thanked by the waitress for standing up for her, but Clark decides to head out to avoid any suspicions.
(The waitress will later be revealed as Lucy Lane, the younger sister of Lois Lane)
Clark decides to go downtown in Metropolis to apply for a better job. He drives there and we get shots of Metropolis. The design of Metropolis, in my rewrite, strongly resembles the version from Superman Returns.
Act 2: Later, after seeing The Daily Planet building, Clark decides to apply for a job there, and he succeeds, and this is where he first meets Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Chloe Sullivan and Perry White.
Jimmy Olsen is the new kid in The Daily Planet, fresh out of college, and he becomes fast friends with Lois and Clark.
Perry White is the very stern Editor-in-Chief of the Metropolis newspaper the Daily Planet. He is Clark's boss. (I would still cast Lawrence Fishbourne)
Chloe Sullivan is witty, feisty, and cheeky reporter of The Daily Planet. She is Lois's close friend and she vaguely was acquaintances with Clark, back in his Smallville days.
Clark and Lois hit it off, despite their bickering at first, and they even agree on a date, a few weeks later. Clark and Lois interview Lex Luthor, about LEXCORP's new achievements in cybernetics. During the interview, Lex makes some unwanted advances towards Lois, which irritates Clark but he keeps his cool and stays professional.
(That is a creepy politician metaphor, kinda like a certain president from 2016, who has sexual assault allegations from at least 5 women)
Clark decides to help people publicly as Superman, as he pulls out the old black suit that Martha had made for him. After work, Clark hears an explosion, he walks as Clark rips his shirt to reveal his (Silver) Superman symbol.
After that, then John Willlams score starts as we see a montage of Clark helping people from life threatening situations and stopping robberies, as the reports of a guy flying in a gray cape stopping crime is flooding in. However, it's not entirely confirmed by the public, so some cynical people in Metropolis say it was an urban legend of some "Superman".
It's during one of these robbery encounters that Clark fought a former marine, John Corben, though his own machine gun's bullets bounced off Superman, and they ricocheted back at Corben and he's paralyzed and his body was mutilated beyond repair. A regretful Superman jumps him to a hospital, near The LEXCORP Building, (We'll get back to that later)
Later, Lois is involved in a helicopter mishap. Clark publicly uses his powers for the first time to jump high enough to catch Lois Lane falling off the damaged helicopter, as it explodes, near 'The LEXCORP tower, astonishing the crowd gathered below. Very similar to the 1978 film.
Superman is now publicly recognized, but not everyone is welcoming of this, some seeing him as dangerous for having this much power. Lex Luthor was quick to become an enemy of Superman when he accused the hero of being an alien threat to humanity. Lex also did research on the meteor that crashed, and he found out that it is deadly to Superman, Lex dubbed the green radioactive substance, "Kryptonite".
The Daily Planet was the only newspaper in existence to portray him in a positive light, with his first recorded photograph being taken by Jimmy Olsen.
Lex, along with Mercy Graves, plans to kill Superman, before he can interfere with LEXCORP and he sees Superman as a threat, due to his alien origin. It's basically Batman's motive for being against Superman in Batman Vs Superman, but pasted onto Lex Luthor, instead. Eve Teschmacher doesn't see what is wrong with Superman. She's very reminiscent of her counterpart in the 1978 film. Meanwhile, Lex Luthor goes to pay a visit to John Corben, in the hospital, after he heard the new story of his encounter with Superman.
John, by this point, is a man that was screwed over by Superman (inadvertently) and Lex made a deal with Corben that if he killed Superman, he'd get millions after the U.S. Government screwed him out of getting benefits after years of being in the marines. Feeling that he had nothing to lose, Corben agreed to the cybernetic enhancements.
LEXCORP scientists transfer his mind into an indestructible android body made of titanium alloys and powered by a Kryptonite heart. Upon the completion, Corben's android body was covered with a layer of artificial skin, which, aside from a rectangular seam which could expose his Kryptonite heart, allowed him to pass himself off as his original body.
Lex Luthor orders Metallo to cause destruction and collateral damage around Metropolis, to catch the attention of Superman. Reluctantly, Metallo rips off his human skin, revealing his robotic body from underneath.
Act-3: We see Metallo decimate Metropolis with his kryptonite powered weapons. The Military is sent in to neutralize Metallo. However, none of the machine gun rounds from the soldiers can pierce Corben's android body. Meanwhile, Clark hears a psychic call and he discovers a glowing blue crystal from the remains of his spacecraft that he keeps around. It compels Superman to fly to the Arctic where he uses the blue crystal to find The Fortress of Solitude, which strongly resembles the architecture and design of Krypton.
Inside, a hologram of Jor-El explains Clark's true origins, and after educating him on his reason for being sent to Earth and his powers, and he says to Clark,
"The people of Earth are different from us, it's true, but ultimately, I believe that is a good thing. They won't necessarily make the same mistakes we did, but if you guide them, Kal, if you give them hope. That's what this symbol means. The symbol of the House of El means "Hope". Embodied within that hope is the fundamental belief in the potential of every person to be a force for good. That's what you can bring them. They will race behind you. They will stumble. They will fall. But in time, they will join you in the Sun, Kal. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders."
Clark leaves the Fortress wearing a blue and red suit with a red cape and the House of El family crest emblazoned on his chest. It's basically the classic Superman outfit.
After seeing news coverage of Metropolis getting decimated, Clark decides to learn how to fly to save everyone, and it's the same exact scene from Man Of Steel, except when Clark does fly, The John Williams Superman Theme plays in the background instead. When Superman arrives in Metropolis, he evacuates civilians out of the city. (Because that's what Superman is supposed to be written as)
Meanwhile, Lois is about to get shot and killed by Metallo's plasma cannon, especially since she was too close to Lex's operations, as a reporter, but Superman swoops in and punches Metallo, sending the cyborg crashing into a Wayne Enterprises Building. (That's hinting at a Batman crossover)
After Superman saves her life, Lois grabs a nearby AK 47, on the pavement and evacuates Jimmy, Chloe, and Perry out of the city to be safe from all the chaos and collateral damage that Metallo is causing. Superman and Metallo have a brawl across Metropolis.
Metallo activates his kryptonite blaster and Superman is shot in the chest with it, weakening him and sending Clark crashing into a car, destroying it on impact.
Metallo absolutely bodies Clark in his weakened state. Corben is a master martial artist during his time with The Marines, and Superman is reliant on his abilities. Metallo beats down on Superman.
Metallo fires a missile at Superman, but using his reaction time, Clark turns the missile right back at Metallo, and the explosion blows a huge chunk in the torso of Metallo's cybernetic body.
Superman flies away from Metallo, momentarily for extra sunlight, to nullify the effects of the kryptonite, but Metallo has thrusters that allow him to fly at supersonic speeds.
The two engage in an aerial fight, but Superman grabs Metallo by his robotic skull and throws him into The LEXCORP Tower, tearing a hole through the skyscraper.
Superman and Metallo continue fighting in the LEXCORP Tower. When they are in close quarters, Superman freezes one of Metallo's arms and blows it up with his heat vision, knocking Metallo backwards, losing his right arm in the process.
When Metallo rushes towards Superman, Clark, in slow motion, sees an exposed chunk of wiring on the side of Metallo's torso, fires his heat vision and Metallo explodes and he is left a fiery mess, and Metallo shuts down.
Lois does find and confront Lex, thanks to Eve Teschmacher, the intern, next to Lex screams "She's got a gun!!" as Lois shoots Lex in the left arm.
When Superman arrives, Lex explains that they cannot arrest him, since he already covered the Metallo incident up, so Superman leaves with Lois, and flies away, vowing to put Luthor away in prison, one day.
Superman reveals his identity to Lois, and they still stay together as the two kiss, as the camera pans out to see the ravaged Metropolis. News Coverage, the papers and social media posts around the globe publish that Superman saves Metropolis from Metallo's terrorist attack and is a beacon of hope, just when it looked like Metropolis was about to be wiped off the map. Meanwhile, Metallo is sent back to LEXCORP and Lex repairs Corben and keeps him in a room, for something darker and nefarious…
(That is set up for The Legion Of Doom for a future Justice League sequel, especially since Steppenwolf is the villain for my rewrite of the first Justice League film)
The film ends with Superman and Lois being on their date that they promised each other, and after the date is over, Clark hears a crime, Lois kisses him and Clark suits up as Superman and flies off, with the John Willlams theme playing in the background, as the credits roll.
Post Credit Scenes: In the Batcave, Batman is watching a live video of Superman's fight with Metallo, setting up their meeting in World's Finest.
A giant skull-ship with tentacles orbits Saturn, and inside, the computer coldly states, "Kryptonian detected" and a green humanoid alien in silver armor, with his eyes glowing pink, states "Target Acquired" and smiles sinisterly.
This will set up Brainiac as a villain for a future Superman sequel, right after The Justice League.

The Batman 2: Heart Of Ice:

The Plot Act 1: The Batman 2 takes place during Christmas, and a year after the first movie. The opening scene is a flashback montage of Victor Fries and Nora falling in love and would end with the doctor saying she has cancer.
After this revelation, Victor developed a special cryogenic cell and planned to cryogenically hold Nora in there, to keep her alive, until a cure was found. However, Fries had been misappropriating GothCorp's money, which left the company in debt and the experiment unauthorized.
Fries was interrupted by GothCorp's CEO Ferris Boyle and a fight ensued and Fries grabbed a handgun, pointing it at Boyle and the security guards. Fries was then calmly ordered by Boyle to drop the gun, reasoning that it was not his nature to resort to violence and that a possibility may have existed to legitimately bankroll Nora's experiment.
Boyle's smooth talk got to Victor as he relaxed and let down his guard, allowing the deceitful CEO to kick the scientist into a lab table full of beakers which exploded. The explosion smashed him into his cryogenic freezing tanks and the accident soaked his entire body with the freezing solution and rendered him unable to survive outside of a sub-zero environment.
In the present day, Bruce Wayne has been trying to help and go out in public more and has his playboy personality, to help Gotham City recover from the flood that The Riddler caused in the previous movie. Ferris Boyle would be one of the head leaders for Gotham's rebuilding, even after the flood being frozen solid. However, it's another lie and secretly, Boyle is secretly taking money supposed to rebuild Gotham into his own bank account.
We have an opening action sequence of Batman fighting Killer-Croc, in the flooded waters of Gotham City, in the sewers. It's very similar to Bruce's fight with Killer Croc in Arkham Origins video game, where Batman uses his electrical gauntlets to wail on Croc, knocking him out and Bruce leaves Killer Croc for the cops.
After that, we see Batman as Bruce Wayne attending a charity event for Gotham's reconstruction, after the flood. It's led by Ferris Boyle. However, the door is busted down, thugs begin aiming their guns and an armored figure with glowing red eyes slowly walks towards Boyle, as Mister Freeze is introduced and he attacks The Charity Event, and tries to get the diamonds in the area and kidnap Boyle. He begins freezing people with his Freeze-Gun.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Bruce disappears into the panicked crowd and suits up as Batman, and he jumps out and kicks Mister Freeze, directly in his glass dome, cracking it. Due to his limited mobility in his armor, Freeze struggles against Batman, as Bruce continues landing several blows on him. However, Freeze gets Batman off of him and freezes Batman's feet to the floor with his Freeze-Rifle.
Mister Freeze steals the diamond and kidnaps Boyle. Victor takes Boyle to his hideout where he freezes his body. Boyle had caused his body to turn a bluish blue and for him to feel like he's constantly burning and his only comfort is his suit which cools him down. We now cut to Gordon and Batman investigating the crime scene.
Mister Freeze is using the diamonds to power his armor to find a cure for Nora who is permanently frozen. We have a similar scene to the animated series to show Freeze's lack of empathy and cold demeanor towards his goons.
Freeze has also been targeting executives of Ferris Boyle. Which leads to an action sequence in the frozen waters in Gotham City, where Freeze is surrounded by the executives, who all carry assault rifles. Mister Freeze kills them all by smashing the ice and freezing them underneath the frozen water, causing them to drown.
Finally, Batman figures out who Victor Fries is, through some research on The Batcomputer and which bank he's gonna rob next and chases after him with The Batmobile. However, Mister Freeze freezes the vehicle causing Batman to lose him.
Act-2: After his loss to Mister Freeze, Batman goes to The Iceberg Lounge to get some answers and information on Freeze but instead of getting met by The Penguin, it's two super strong thugs who are Tweedledee and Tweedledum.
Batman fights the duo, but he gets overpowered and just when Batman is cornered and about to be beaten to death, Catwoman jumps behind Tweedledum and kicks him in the head and says playfully to Batman,
"I figured you'd be here".
Together, Bruce and Selena knock out both Tweedledee and Tweedledum in a bloody fist fight. After dealing with those two, Bruce and Selina get to Penguin, who does actually have information this time as he is doing a weapons deal with Freeze where he'll trade for this new freeze tech.
Batman attacks The Freeze Thugs, alongside Catwoman. These thugs have less advanced versions of Freeze's gun and interrogate one and figuring out Freeze's hideout and his motivation for his crimes. After they are subdued, Batman and Catwoman go to Mister Freeze's hideout taking out his goons stealthily and finding Freeze looking at his wife in the tube.
Batman sympathizes with Freeze and tries to convince him that he'll help Freeze with his wife and that he doesn't need to steal diamonds and shatter Boyle, who has been frozen all this time. Freeze doesn't care and doesn't trust Batman because Boyle lied to him in a similar way. They battle for a while, with Freeze having an upgraded version of his armor for better mobility.
Mister Freeze catches one of Batman's kicks and throws him aside into one of his ice structures, shattering it to pieces.
As Batman is in a fist fight with Freeze, Bruce begins to freeze up, because his main suit is not built for this low temperature environment, as Mister Freeze pulverizes Batman with a fury of punches, which breaks his cowl.
Catwoman tries to slice into Freeze's armor with her claws, but Freeze shoots her in the neck, causing Selena to suffocate.
(As for the effects of The Freeze-Rifle, The freezing itself doesn't actually kill you but it's the hypothermia that ensues that does it)
Batman breaks the ice and stealthily retreats with a wounded and suffocating Catwoman, back to The Batcave.
Act-3: After this, Batman quickly gets out of his armor and shatters the ice around Selina's neck. During Catwoman's recovery, Bruce reveals his identity to her and the two make out and get into an official relationship. Bruce and Selina come up with a plan to stop Freeze and find some way to cure his wife. His original suit is too damaged and they don't have time to repair it, as Freeze plans to storm GothCorp and steal all their latest technologies to help Nora.
Lucius Fox and his son, Luke, create Batman's new extreme environment suit created to stop Freeze specifically. The Extreme Environment Suit is armed with Thermo Charged Batarangs. Batman with his new XE suit will find Freeze and they battle.
All of Freeze's blasts from his Freeze-Rifle do nothing as they melt quickly on Batman's XE suit.
Batman bombards Mister Freeze with explosives and blasts from his Thermo Charged Batarangs, which ends up weakening Mister Freeze.
Batman punches Freeze across the room.
Catwoman fights off Freeze's thugs. It's a similar action sequence to Black Widow's hallway fight with Whiplash's thugs in Iron Man 2.
Batman reasons with Mister Freeze, to turn himself in for the sake of his wife, Nora, and Victor agrees and surrenders to The GCPD. Mister Freeze is put away in Arkham Asylum, in an extremely cold cell. The movie ends with Wayne Enterprises announcing that they are working on a cure for cancer, and they are almost there, as Victor cries with happiness, as the film ends on a hopeful note.
Post Credit Scenes: - We see a dark haired woman, looking at photos of Batman and Superman's past sightings and footage of their battles with past supervillains, including Batman's final battle with Mister Freeze.
She says "The Silver Age of Heroes is happening, huh." As we zoom in on her amazonian armor, tiara, and lasso, hung up in her penthouse. As we hear the Hanns Zimmer Wonder Woman Theme quietly plays in the background, as it cuts to black…
(Yep, it's a small glimpse at Wonder Woman)

• Tweedledee and Tweedledum are in the streets of Gotham, and they are suddenly hypnotized by a mysterious man. That will set up Mad Hatter for a future Batman film.

I’m just a stay-at-home boyfriend who keeps to himself and tries to live quietly and comfortably. I’m not super great at keeping up with a large amount of people, but I enjoy talking with and learning things about them.
I play a lot of video games, read the occasional book, and watch a lot of movies/shows. When I’m not doing that, I’m doing chores and cooking dinner and just generally taking care of things around the apartment.
I enjoy listening to music, and discovering new music!
I’m politically very left-wing and will not tolerate any right-wing fascist bullshit. Other than that I’ve been told I’m easy-going, and that’s how I try to be. I go into situations with a very laid back but alert attitude. I want to help people as much as I can.
I’m into collecting games. PS3 games are my main focus right now. But the PS1 is a big one too, as it was my first console way back in the late ‘90s. I collect other games as well, but my heart is full of PS1 and PS3 nostalgia. I’m also getting into collecting toys I had growing up. It’s just nice re-connecting with a part of my life that I don’t really have a lot of detailed memories of. Plus, it’s also nice to look at my shelves and pick out something and look at it and remember.
You don’t have to be into games to chat, but that is the one topic I’m most knowledgeable in, so it helps.

There are key steps you need to take before you reply if you want help. Especially the last sentence.

THREE THINGS YOU HAVE TO KNOW.

These three things are crucial (spoiler tag to make you read):

1. Footage type (See below)
2. Hardware/System specs. Just saying "HD or 4k" doesn't help
3. Even if you don't want something "fancy", you still need to read this.
4. IF YOU DO NOT START YOUR REPLY with the proper format, you won't get a response.

For example, MOBILE EDITING SOLUTIONS are in the wiki. Nobody is an expert on all of the tools.
Trying it with your system and footage is the best way to work.

1 - Footage type. Know what you're cutting.

FOOTAGE TYPE AFFECTS playback. READ THAT AGAIN. The compression type is key.
Action cam, Mobile phone, and screen recordings can be difficult to edit, due to h264/5 material (especially 1080p60 or 4k) and Variable Frame Rate issues..
AGAIN: Footage types like 1080p60, 4k (any frame rate) are going to stress your system.
When your system struggles, the way that the professional industry has handled this for decades is to use Proxies. Proxies are a copy of your media in a lower resolution and possibly a "friendlier" codec.
A proxy workflow more than any other feature, is what makes editing high frame rate, 4k oand h264/5 footage possible. It is important to know if your software has this capability.

2- Key Hardware suggestions:

The suggested hardware minimums for the "average" user

• A recent i7 (due to intel Quick Sync)
• 16GB of RAM
• A GPU with 2+ GB of GPU RAM
• An SSD (for cache files.)

Can other hardware work? Certainly - but may not necessarily provide a great experience.
GPUS do not help with the codec/playback of media but do help with visual effects.

3- I Just need something simple. I don't need all those effects.

Sadly, having super easy-to-use software means engineering teams*.*
iMovie came with your Mac and is by far the easiest-to-use editor for either platform.
There isn't a lightweight, easy-to-use free/inexpensive editor that we'd recommend for Windows the way we recommend iMovie. We wish iMovie was available for windows. The closest we've seen on windows is Olive editor (open source)

Okay, so what do you suggest?

Editing

Two tools that charge but have very usable free versions.

• DaVinci Resolve - Needs a strong video card/hardware. Max size (free) is UHD. Full version for $299. Mac/Win/Linux. Full proxy workflow. An excellent tool if your hardware can handle it.
• Hit Film - freemium - no watermark. Extra features at a price. Mac/Win. Full proxy workflow. You don't have to buy their packs for text (you can do it manually). Their "intro" packs aren't terrible. This has some after-effects-like features - but has little professional adoption.

I want Easy

Know that any of these tools are limited - many "advanced" features aren't ever going to be available here and there is no growth to a professional market.

• Adobe Rush - Free, but.. - Win/Mac/Android/iOS. Easy to use, free software. No watermarks. You must create an Adobe account, but you don't have to buy anything. You will have to buy a subscription if you want: mobile to desktop transfer or Rush to Premiere transfer.
• ClipChamp, bought by Microsoft. It's not terrible. Has a freemium tier.
• CapCut - they have mobile tools. Our biggest warning is that while they have some interesting features, anything really good is buried into a subscription for the app.

These all have costs, some of them are subscription only. If you're thinking you want to move in the future to doing this professionally, we'd suggest Premiere for most people.

• Adobe Premiere Pro
• Apple Final Cut Pro
• Avid Media Composer
• BMD DaVinci Resolve

Open Source tools

Open source tools. We think these are great - but there is no UI team/support

• Kdenlive -Open source with proxy workflows. Windows/Linux. Full proxy workflow. Good for low-end computers. Standard color-grading tools. Some features that are locked behind a paywall (in Hitfilm such) as glitch effects and spot removal are available for free. Lacks in VFX/ text tool barebones.
• Olive Editor Easier than Kdenlive - but in the middle of a major rewrite - may be unstable. .1 is easy, but unsupported. .2 is being actively developed - but has less features.
• ShotCut - Linux/Windows/Mac. Lesser features than Kdenlive (e.g not a lot of color-grading effects in comparison). Has a proxy workflow, though it's not as good as Kdenlive either.

^{We mention other tools in the wiki, but generally, nobody has bought/tested the tools at \}$100 or less. And we're not suggesting the "bigger" tools but happen to discuss them. 99% of people who come here are looking to play for zero dollars.)

Effects

• Hit Film - freemium - no watermark. Extra features at a price. Mac/Win. Full proxy workflow. You don't have to buy their packs for text (you can do it manually). Their "intro" packs aren't terrible. This has some after effects like features - but has little professional adoption.
• Calvary (free tier) - This is a dynamic cross platform motion graphic tool that has a very powerful free tier.

Web Sites worth noting

• RunwayML - A paid web tool that has some free features. Of note, it's AI ability to remove (you only get access to a lower res version for free). Also has a rudimentary editor.

Compression

Shutter Encoder is a free, cross-platform compression tool. It's a GUI front end to FFMPEG (a command-line utility.) It does more than handbrake, our prior favorite.

• It can do a variety of conversions, including H264, HEVC, ProRes, and DNxHD/HR.
• It can trim a video without re-encoding (it's not an editor, a trimmer in this case)
• It can convert a Variable Frame Rate video to Constant frame rate in h264 (but we'd recommend converting to an edit-friendly codec)

Lossless cut is an excellent tool to "snip" out a section of what you downloaded. Shutter does this too, but Lossless is a little easier.

Mobile

• iOS Free: iMovie
• iOS Paid: Lumafusion
• Android (and Chromebooks that run Android apps): Kinemaster
• Capcut (just really, REALLY watch that they quickly become a subscription tool.)

So… this is my first time using Reddit, I’m in very good time in my life right now put I still struggle some times.. so this is my story.
I thinks I always been pretty normal guy.. sins a I was a kid a had a tons of friends but I felt like a left over.. not bullied, but not felt like the top person.. I don’t think that makes a lot a senses.
With relationships I had a lot of heartbreaks, but looking back I think I exaggerated… now a days a regret not having more fun a not gating so involve.
But moving on, when a was 24 years old a met the perfect girl (the one that I married)..
She is awesome in every way… she is beautiful, super smart, funny, and makes me supper happy all the time.
But to the point… in a time in my life (27) I thought I was loosing my friends… felling left out
At the same adulthood hit me on the face… a wasn’t 21 anymore… my peers staring making money the i wasn’t… so the pressure staring boiling up
So surprise surprise my first panic attack… I don’t to make a long story but was a bad time in my life…
I was lucky I was already seen a doctor at the time but still took a long time, and medication, to learn how to be social, going to work, being around crowds, drive a car, all the basic stuff with out felling terrible
It was hell…took me like six month and a lot alpram (Xanax) to be back to “normal”
But again I was ok!!, the worst had past… boy I was wrong
In that time a got married to my beautiful girlfriend, travel with my friend, and my business was doing ok… life was good

Hello. Sorry, English is not my first language. So before I start this story, maybe I should say some information about my relationship from the past. I was dating this one guy for one year, then he went study to the US (we’re from Europe) so we had long-distance relationship for a year. It was hard as f.., but we did it. We broke up anyways after he came back, but whatever. I just wanted to say, that I have been in long distance relationship in the past and i dont know if i can do this again.
I am dating my boyfriend for a year and couple of months now. He is half American and when we started dating, we talked about a possibility he would go to the US for school. (My boyfriend now finishes conservatory and is playing trombone.) I told him about my past long -distance relationship. Well we talked about this more, and my bf told me, he doesn’t even want to go to the US for the studies, but his mom wants him to. He was raised by her only, and still lives with her. She studied too in the US and she met his father there. So time went, he told me he won’t go to the US, as it makes no sense to him etc. I was releaved. Then He applied for a really hard school here in the country in december, and he got accepted! This school is focused on making and composing movie sounds and movie music. We celebrated, because it was reealy hard and he was looking for going there, because it is a good next step for his musician career. Well, approximately a month ago, he told me he needs to talk to me about something. He said he sent an application to this school in the US (he would continue playing trombone here). We talked about it, well in the end I found out his mom wanted this, not him. Like he wasn’t against it, but it wasn’t his idea. He basically said he only wanted to try if they accept him, promised me with no pressure that if he got accepted, he wont go there. He just wants to try. So he recorded himself playing and sent it to them.
Three days ago me and my boyfriend met and went for a walk, then he randomly tells me: I love you so much, but dont me angry at me; I got accepted to the school and they said I can pay less money for it because I played so good (tbh I dont believe this, i think it is just a way to manipulate you because still you need to pay shit ton of money). So basically he said; I have a month to reconsider, and if I can somehow get this money for the school, I will go there.
I thought he was kidding me. I thought he knew what he wanted, I thought we talked about this. Well we talked about this for a long time, now I just need to wait how he decides. And if he decides to go and if he get this money, then I have no idea what we will do. We love each other a lot, our relationship had a very good perspective, he loves me (his own words) “too much”, i told him that the decision is on him and I know it is hard, but if he decides to go, I dont know if i can do this (long distance) again.

I desperately need help getting ULMQ's audio features working again. I know all about Sphero pulling the app and sites like apkpure, but despite my best efforts I haven't been able to get him to move his lips and talk outside of very specific and disappointing conditions.
I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say that ULMQ in its original glory is one of the coolest toys ever made. The videos that show his mouth moving and him talking as he watches the Cars movies are so freaking cool. My son loves Lightning McQueen more than life itself. I just want to give him that experience.
I've officially tried everything I can think of. Most APKs won't even connect to the car. The only success I've had is installing v1.1.0. Unlike any of the other versions, this one will actually connect and allow me to drive him. The problem is that it doesn't give me any of the audio features. He will say, "I feel a power nap coming on" when going into sleep mode, and oddly enough, his touch sensors will also trigger audio responses if I force quit the app. Aside from that, he refuses to talk. The performance and drive-in features don't work, which is disappointing because those to me are the coolest things about him. But at the very least v1.1.0 has been able to connect to the 3 ULMQ's I've tested it on.
I have a very uneducated theory about how this all works. Keep in mind it's all conjecture and I'd love it if someone could confirm or refute any part of it:
"Sphero designed the car to receive audio data from company servers as a wireless download when the customer first connected the car to the app. Some people who bought the car back when Sphero provided support recall this download taking quite a while. The audio data was then stored on some form of internal onboard memory within the car itself. The audio data package may have been specific to the version of the app and operating system it was downloaded with. When updates of the app were released and installed by the customer, the audio package would probably get updated and re-downloaded as well. When Sphero's license to use the Lightning McQueen character expired, they legally had to pull the app from the app store and shut down the servers that provided the audio download. So now in 2023, if you were to buy a factory sealed ULMQ, there would be no way to get the audio features working because the car never had the audio package downloaded, and because of Sphero's discontinued support, it never will. The only hope would be to buy a used unit in the hopes that the original owner had connected it during a time when the audio package download was available. Then the challenge would be to determine which version of the app the original owner had last successfully used, as this would be the app version that correlates to the specific audio package on the car's onboard memory. Whether that person used an iOS app or an android app may even be relevant. I'm not sure. If the correct app version could be found, the audio features might be fully functional. Most versions of the APK won't connect to the car at all. I suspect this is because they're looking for the audio package on the car's internal storage, and when they don't find it, they try to connect to Sphero's servers to download it. Since the servers are no longer available, the car never gets past that step, and won't connect. For whatever reason, APK v1.1.0 (one of the first app versions) seems to be fine with not finding an audio package on the car's onboard memory, and will connect, just without the functionality of the audio. This is at least something, but the one (perhaps unfounded) concern I have about installing v1.1.0 is that I worry it somehow forces a dump of whatever audio package the original owner had installed on the car. Maybe it doesn't, but it's something to consider before installing."
I'll be the first to admit that's a total guess, but it's the best I can come up with after scouring reddit, aggressively messaging strangers like a crazy person, and trying every apk I can find. For the life of me I haven't been able to find a .ipa file of any version of the app (if anyone has one they would be willing to share, or could explain how to extract and share one from an existing iOS app, that would be amazing). A couple people I've talked to who are original owners are still enjoying full functionality of all the audio features on their iOS apps , but we haven't been able to figure out how to extract an .ipa, or how to duplicate the success on a separate device and car.
If anyone can help me add any pieces to the puzzle I would be very VERY grateful. This started as a fun little side project for my Cars-obsessed son but somewhere along the way it became personal. I just need to figure this out so I can put it behind me and move on with my life! Thank you for reading.

Tattoos: Sure, whatever, as long as it's not overwhelming or flat out tacky, in this day in age it's harder to find someone with none, so as the trend follows above.
Piercings: Depends, some people can pull off septum piercings, but I personally dislike them, so if it compliments your facial features, sure why not. But there is definitely a breaking point where it becomes overwhelming and you just look like Hellraiser.
Education: Strong preference towards educated women, this does not necessarily mean academics, open to all.
Profession: No preference, but I do tend to like women in psychology (I have my reasons.)
Personality: If I have to learn "your" pronouns, or apologize for my "white male privilege" you can fuck right off; I don't care about politics.
Children: Strong preference in favor of not having them, unless we never intend to meet, or you don't expect a level of commitment from me to them, then I don't readily care, non-factor. To explain a tad bit, it isn't that I can't, I just would rather not raise children, I have too many plans in life that children would derail, maybe later.

Well just to filter some things out, since I get this so many times... I will not be putting a big editorial process to this update(I say this now, after already re-reading, and editing a minimum of 5 times; I'm a slave to my own perfectionism,) so if you mostly have questions about me, ASPD, and things of the like, read this before you message me.

While I absolute love to talk about myself because I'm just such a narcissistic-hedonist, I also do get bored of repeating myself, even if it is a new person. As such read everything in it's entirety before you message me, as I'm going to entertain less, and less messages about me, and not what I'm seeking, I'd rather focus on only replying to potential partners, and absolutely nothing else, that being said if anything I have not covered in this update, or post still burns an answer from you, by all means message me.

"Were you formally diagnosed?"
I get asked about this A LOT, I'm not going to go into very many details, suffice it to say, yes, but it's been labeled as a misdiagnosis, all you need to know is I score high, and I do the things you'd expect, the pyromania, the violence that is actually associated at early age, the works, I'm not comfortable giving you more beyond that, and I will not be entertaining questions about my personal life, maybe a partner could ask me those questions, but I'm not letting you in my head, that's my game, not the other way around :).

"Why are you so open about it(ASPD)?"
Isn't it obvious? A lot of you can't fathom why someone with ASPD would just openly come out, and admit to people, well I guess I really should've brushed up on this when I first made my post, or at least go into a far more descriptive detail than I had originally, so here goes:

If I'm ever to lead a sort of a long term relationship based on trust, and honesty, just how in the HELL do you expect me to explain this to you ever so casually? It's best to show your cards in the beginning, this is my own baggage, or some form there of.

There's two reasons I'm choosing to do this online, and vehemently under anonymity; 99% of you will be irrelevant to me, 99% of you will never meet me, it's just that simple, ergo why wouldn't I just preface my entire description as such, and as brutally honest as possible? Secondly I do not want a partner whom I need to continue to wear a mask for, I want to be me, the real me, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

What I find the most is women that fetishize the entire ordeal, that's all fine and dandy, but it does show just a lack of understanding about what APSD is as a whole, and to be perfectly blunt, you're wasting my time, I don't need to feed into your lonely thrill romance you spun in your head from watching true crime dramas. More often than not, this what happens, spare us the role-playing, I'm just not that bored.

"Empathy"
One clear distinction I'd like to make, so I can stop getting asked about it, we DO have empathy, it's just not how YOU experience empathy. Think of a light switch, by default most of the population's is on, ours is off by default, and furthermore we have the ability to turn it on, and off. Yes, it is that simple, yes we use it for manipulation, now stop asking me about this, it's boring to repeat this.

"Emotions"
Boredom, rage. This is what I'm capable of in the dark, empathy off. I'm constantly seeking stimuli, if you notice by actually looking through my posts, I've moved a ton of times, and always national parks... New atmosphere, new adventures, new dangers, you know, the shit that gets your heart pumping, adrenaline. This is my favorite drug, this is the high I constantly chase to kill the boredom. Rage is just self explanatory, my defaults are animalistic.
I am fully capable of experiencing all emotions, it's just for the most part, because I don't want do, I don't allow myself to.

"Manipulation"
For the longest time I told myself who cares if I burn bridges in my wake, I'm building a highway in its place. Mostly still true, and I absolutely use it on a daily basis for survival, I must stress, and emphasize survival, here is why; I'm human, like the rest of you, what do you do on a daily basis, if not find means, and ways to survive, and entertain yourself? I know no other way other than to use people to my advantage, I minimize the damage where I can, and move about my daily existence, guilt, and worry free about doing any wrong, an argument could be made that we all use each other in some weight, or capacity, and that's good enough for me.

I'm sure by now you're probably wondering what the hell any of that has to do with anything, it's simple if the point flew over your head, again. I'm tired of manipulating people, using them, abusing them, discarding them, I didn't grow a conscious I'm not "growing" as a person, but much more likely, I'm just bored of the routine, or the process, which has become the symphony of my life.

"Love"
I by no means ever want to experience this love you all chase like Alice clumsily falling down the rabbit hole. I've seen it so much in my life it's downright pathetic, and I actually feel bad for those of you that have such strong emotions, see empaths. You're slaves to these emotions, you let people use and manipulate you, you've been hurt, and had your heart ripped from your chest, and it feels like you no longer have purpose, lacking direction, and meaning in life. I merely know this from generally observing humans for most of my natural born life. I'm more than happy to remain the way I have always been, and never wish to experience emotions in the way you do, I find it to be an advantage, one I can apply to more important things in life, like the pursuit of knowledge.

"Preferences"
My preferences, are just that, a list of my preferences, at no point in any of my writing did I say I was prejudice between one thing, or that I show favoritism. I merely made a chart listing some of the attributes that I myself, personally find to be significant to me, but that isn't to say, or detract from other things. It's the equivalent of asking me if I prefer Metallica, or Megadeth; well I'm going to say I prefer one over the other, but I enjoy both, and the genre as a whole, the genre being women in this case. I enjoy women for my own personal entertainment, and amusement -- which makes it all the more hilarious to me when I get called a misogynist.
so please spare me all your comments, and messages telling me that it's so "intimidating", if my post intimidates you, what can I really even begin to say about that? It doesn't sound like we'd be compatible, or much less you'd be able to accept me as a person, in any case this is a personal issue.

From the 4x09 Insiders Podcast: Wiedersehen
Rhea Seehorn, and music composer Dave Porter, are guest hosts.
* Vince Gilligan says do not make your characters dumb when writing. It's a terrible shortcut.
* Kelley Dixon isn't in this podcast, but she did talk about 4x09 during the 4x04 podcast.
After she saw 4x09, she texted Seehorn "oh my god giiiiiirrrrrrrrlll, it's so good.".
Seehorn hadn't seen it yet, so she was pleasantly surprised.
* The Moncada brothers (aka The Cousins), who were in the 4x04 podcast, then asked, "is that when we kill Mando and Rhea and Breaking Bad starts"?
* Gilligan says shooting a laser into a camera, like Werner did, would have messed up a camera only if it were a camera from 1964.
Nowadays, first of all it's hard to even aim the laser at the sensor. You have to get it perfectly perpendicular to the sensor.
And even if you do, it does produce a flare. But it doesn't hurt the sensor at all.
* To get that final shot of Mike zapping the camera, they had to combine shots of Mike pretending to do it from the ground, with Gilligan then aiming a laser at the same camera, from the roof.
* Dave Porter's music composition is the final step in the episode process. First he watches the episode after it's been edited.
While watching, first he watches the scene with no music, and uses a metronome to find the tempo of a scene. He adjusts the metronome until he finds the tempo for that scene.
This works 80% of the time.
Then he creates the music based off that tempo.
* The editors say that the tempo at which scenes are edited and then played at, is based on the performance of the actors.
* The initial idea for Kim's scam to Lubbock, Texas city hall with new blueprints, was going to have Jimmy being a sleazy guy who hits on her, with Kim elbowing him, and Jimmy then bleeding on the existing blueprints.
But that didn't seem fun or playful.
They wanted to do the scam so that at the end of it, the banker would fist pump Kim, and be happy to switch plans (because of how hapless Kim's "brother", Jimmy, is).
* Seehorn's vocal teacher in school once said that when one wakes up, one starts with one's natural voice. Everything after that, during the day, is anxiety and stress, which then causes one's voice to change from the natural voice.
* Kim doing the blueprint scam is pure ego, to look good to Mesa Verde. It was supposed to take 2 months for re-approval, if they wanted the bank to have have the larger design.
Fight at Schweikart & Cokely rooftop:
* Before even getting to the set, Odenkirk kept trying to convince Seehorn why Jimmy was right.
* The show staff say both Jimmy and Kim were right.
* Kim says both Jimmy and Kim were trying to protect themselves, rather than being honest with each other.
* They tried music in the lead-up to that scene, but decided not to use it, because the music felt too pro-Kim.
* Seehorn says she can't go into the scene thinking of it as an argument. Because it's not, until it is.
She has to be able to play off of Odenkirk, and Jimmy has to push her buttons.
That's how they can react to each other.
* Seehorn says theater training has helped her. Because during a theater run, she's doing 8 shows a week.
So for every show, she has to take a whole new audience with her on the journey.
She can't go into a show thinking about the ending, or about major events. She has to do them as they come.
She applies these same principles to doing a TV scene. She has to start over every time.
* When searching for an actor to play Lalo, they wanted someone Mexican.
* Tony Dalton spends time living in both in Mexico, and the USA.
* They like how Dalton switches easily between Spanish and English.
* This is only Dalton's 2nd English production, with Sense8 being his first.
* They like how he is not a sledgehammer, like the Cousins or Hector.
He's more charming, canny, smart, and thoughtful, but just as much of a psychopath. Which comes out in the story he tells Hector, in how he retrieved the bell.

Music Supervisor Thomas Golubic is also a guest host.
* Original teaser was only supposed to have the karaoke.
They added the part about Chuck getting his brother home, because they felt something else should happen.
* They like how there's finally a scene where Jimmy and Chuck have a warm genuine connection.
* There was supposed to be a scene with Nacho, but it was cut. They might use it in season 5. This episode was already overloaded.
* They were really concerned that the Jimmy reinstatement events, and the Mike/Lalo events, were on different timelines.
The Jimmy reinstatement efforts take place over a week, leading up to his appeal.
The Mike/Lalo events take place over a day.
They were worried that the sequencing would get confusing. For example, one might think that the Jimmy events take place over a day.
However, they caught a break. The UNM law library scene was supposed to take place at night.
However, the location they used had giant windows. They decided it would look better during the day.
It might have then appeared that it took Mike a whole day to get to Travel Wire, if the law library scene at been at night.
In the end, Gilligan said when he watched the episode, he didn't even think about how the two plots were on different timelines.
* The band ABBA are very particular about how their songs are used, and what they license. They are difficult to work with, and are actively involved in the process.
They are protective of their legacy.
Golubic once met Björn Ulvaeus accidentally in Sweden when someone brought him backstage.
Bjorn said "You Breaking Bad guy right?" Bjorn loved that show.
They then started talking about Better Call Saul, and he was a fan too.
Despite that previous encounter, it was still hard to get this song approved by them. It was still the hardest thing this season.
Golubic had to convey that while there is comedy in the scene, they're not making fun of the song.
ABBA was important to Golubic when he lived in Germany growing up.
* There's a muzak version of the song played at CC Mobile when Jimmy gets the call about Mrs. Straus. Abba had to approve this too.
* They had to spend a lot of time on Skype for all of this music stuff with ABBA.
* The real chicken farm location closed during season 4 of Breaking Bad.
When Lalo is looking at the chicken farm through binoculars, they used a green screen both behind and in front of him (bushes), then matte paintings.
It's a digital matte painting now.
Before they used to hire painters to paint these.
Vince Gilligan didn't know that digital matte paintings were used now that often. He learned about the process of how a digital matte painting is done now during the podcast.
* Giancarlo Esposito had an injury, and was forbidden to talk.
They used a stunt double during walking scenes.
During the scene with Gale, when Gus is walking, a stunt double was used.
Producer Seth Edelstein ran up to them and said "What are you doing??? Giancarlo isn't allowed to walk."
He didn't know it was a double. The stunt double was that good, that it fooled even him.
* When they thought about how Mike would evade Lalo, they said well, Mike's an expert on parking.
The gum inside the ticket machine is really slime.
They added more green to the color, via the color timer person, to make it pop more.
* The stunt when Jimmy fell on the drum stick, in 3x08, was one of the hardest stunts, because they had to do a full body replacement.
* When Kelley Dixon watched 4x09, and Werner was being sent down to fix the faulty detonation wire, she thought "oh no, they're going to blow Werner up."
* When Werner knows he's going to be killed, and he asks Mike to make sure his wife's questions will be answered, and he says "This you swear?"
Mike: "This I swear."
Vince Gilligan really likes this phrase. Even though it's not perfect English, it makes sense given the way Werner speaks.
* The visual effects when Werner was shot, were done by Crafty Apes. They had previously done the backgrounds of the bus scene in 4x08.

Finding this subreddit has been so therapeutic and validating for me. I’m 26, married to the love of my life (32M) with the most amazing 5yo stepdaughter.
Reading all of your stories has inspired me to sit down and type out my own. I must warn you, there are times when I am the villain. Buckle up. This is a small novel.
If we start at the very beginning, my DH began dating HCBM (33) when they were very young in their early 20s. Shortly into their relationship it became clear to DH that she was struggling with very severe alcoholism. I cannot even begin to write out all of the stories I have heard from DH about her alcoholism. He was very young, didn’t have a positive model for a healthy relationship as a child. He believed he could help HCBM. They were extremely on and off together for almost 7 years. Every time he’d try to break up with her she would weasel her way back in. She would go as far as showing up at his family events because she had his family wrapped around her finger (don’t worry, that changed. Read on.) She almost drank herself to death several times. The police in her town know her by name and recognize her car because her family has had to call in for welfare checks so many times. She’s had bits where she’s gone missing for several hours. Been listed as a missing person. Had the police ping her phone. I’ve read the police reports myself.
Where do I even begin with her family? Her parents are extremely proud. They own two businesses in their small town. They’re the kind of people who are very obsessed with image and making people think they’re wealthy. HCBM started drinking when she was 16. Her parents would deal with her problem by sweeping it under the rug and hiding it. They cared more about their pride than getting her the help she needed. When they were together, my DH was often the one who would drive her to AA meetings. HCBM didn’t like AA because she felt she was above the other people there. Her family now despises my DH, and weaves a narrative that she drank because of her toxic relationship with him. Though her drinking problems existed long before and after their relationship.
I’ll share a few stores in particular with the goal of establishing the absolute delusion that HCBM feeds to anyone who will listen about my DH.
There was one evening where they were at my DH’s uncle’s house in the city. The thing about HCBM is that you never saw her drink until she was drunk. She’d sneak in a bathroom or what have you to drink. DH and HCBM got into some kind of argument and she ran off into the city late at night. DH spent several hours driving around the city searching for her until he finally found her in a bar, making out with a random guy. He said “you can take her home tonight” and left. Several hours later in the wee hours of the morning, HCBM stumbled back to the uncle’s house, wasted and crying.
Another occasion, DH was at work and HCBM was at his apartment (she did not live there) and went to hang out with his upstairs neighbors who were girls. She got drunk with them. When DH got home, he tried to explain to his neighbors that she had a problem and shouldn’t be drinking…. They said “don’t control her! That’s manipulative”. DH went back downstairs, HCBM followed, and they fought. She ran back to the neighbors crying and the girls stormed down into his apartment saying “What did you do to her? What did you do to her?!”
A different time HCBM was drunk she had locked herself in DH’s roommate’s room. He was trying to explain to her that she needed to come out, that it wasn't his room and she couldn’t be in there. HCBM called DH’s mom (now my MIL) and began wailing “he’s doing it again, he’s being crazy again!” God knows what she was talking about. Eventually DH called HCBM’s dad who came to pick her up. HCBM’s dad dragged her by her arm down the stairs rather roughly, and DH got upset, like “hey I get that she is drunk and being a problem but you can’t manhandle her like that” so HCBM’s dad responded my shoving DH up against a wall and holding his arm to his throat.
Shall I go on? There are dozens more. The worst is yet to come.
Anyways, about four years into their relationship, after multiple incidents of infidelity on her part, DH started chatting with other women sporadically. He says he knew it was wrong, but he thought if he could show himself there were other women out there who could make him happy, other stable relationships he could be in, he might be able to get away from HCBM. It was about five years into their relationship that DH actually cheated. And so begins HCBM’s favorite narrative, that DH was an awful, unsupportive unfaithful partner who drove her to drinking because he was so shady. She will never, ever consider the fact that my DH to this day is traumatized from their relationship. He’s been in therapy several times and every single therapist identifies her as a narcissist.
Several years ago when DH and I met I was in college. We had an on and off fling for a while on the coattails of him trying to end it with HCBM once and for all after over six years stuck in a cycle. I think my DH made poor decisions, dumb even. But I sympathize with the trauma bond he was stuck in with this woman, and how difficult it was for him to cut ties with someone who would go to great lengths to insert herself in his life, and with the pressure of his family saying he should be with her. He cut things off with me and fell back in with HCBM. Lo and behold… HCBM gets pregnant. This may be shocking…. But it was not a good situation to be bringing a baby into. HCBM was 28 at the time. She was (and still is) working for her mom at the business she owns because she had gotten fired from every other job for showing up drunk. A side note, her mom owns a gymnastics center where she is a teacher. My DH has told me about several times her mother would text him to come pick her up because she’d shown up drunk. Her mom would get her out of there and just sub in another instructor to cover her ass. Anyways, DH was terrified. However, DH grew up without a father, so there was no way he wasn’t going to be involved in his child’s life. It is an impossible thing to talk about in hindsight because I love my SD so dearly, she turns mine and DH’s world. But DH told HCBM to terminate initially. And to be fair, he was right. It was not a stable situation to bring a child into. Would I reverse time and change anything? Never in a million years.
As you may have guessed, HCBM decided to keep the baby. She repeatedly told DH that if he left, he would not see his child. DH was stuck and miserable. During her pregnancy, while HDBM was parading about as if they were this cute happy couple, DH began to miss me. He realized he had real feelings for me, and he reached out. I loved him the moment I met him, so I was thrilled. I’ll keep this part concise; DH began cheating on HCBM with me, and I knew. It was an ugly decision on both of our parts. Despite how much I loathe HCBM, she is a person. She did not deserve that. DH and I are both pretty ashamed about our choices back then. I’ll go into detail later about how both DH and I have tried to atone for our actions.
When she was about 7 months pregnant, HCBM caught on and contacted me. Those conversations are forever burned in my mind. She said some of the most disconnected, ridiculous shit I’ve ever seen. She was obsessed with the image she was trying to portray to everyone about her life. I’ll never forget one conversation where we were discussing their daughter’s impending arrival… I had said something along the lines of “do you think it’s wise to bring a child into this situation,” and she said “I have lots of help. I’m old enough.”
“I’m old enough.”
Like she’s a kid trying to convince her parents to let her stay out past midnight.
DH and I broke things off before SD arrived. I was heartbroken, but let’s be real, that was a mess. An entire mess.
Still, HCBM thought it was just a brilliant idea for her and DH to move in together. So her parent’s rented them a house in their small town…. DH kept paying the rent on his apartment the city about 45 minutes away. DH has told me how miserable their relationship was, and HCBM knew all about his affair with me. But like I said, she was desperately trying to create this pretend life for herself.
SD arrives, a day I am so glad to celebrate each year. She is truly the joy of my life. DH cried more than she did. He was instantly in love with his baby girl.
About three weeks later, HCBM is back on the bottle.
DH told me about how he’d come home from work and find her drunk. She’d grab the baby and lock herself in a bedroom and cry. DH feared for his child’s safety.
HCBM was only able to breastfeed for a month or so because she stopped producing milk due to heinous dieting. She was obsessed with getting back to her pre-pregnancy weight. She would eat only miso soup for days on end. This poor relationship to food comes into play later. HCBM’s mother was always over at the house. Cleaning up, buying them things. Contributing to the facade.
DH was severely depressed. He continued to stay with HCBM to monitor her drinking and watch out for his daughter. They got to a point where DH would sleep on the couch. One night DH came home and HCBM was drunk again with SD in her care. DH called her parents who came rushing over to remedy the situation as they always do. Shortly after they arrived, HCBM had slumped over on the couch and became unresponsive. An ambulance was called. DH says it was one of his most traumatic memories holding his baby daughter watching the EMT’s resuscitate her mother wondering how he would raise this girl on his own.
After a hospital stay, HCBM returned home and her parents ordered pizza and put on a movie and pretended as if nothing had happened. That was the routine. When DH expressed his anger, his justifiable concern for what was going on, HCBM’s parents treated him as though he was the problem, he was an asshole for bringing it up and blaming her.
It wasn’t long after this, SD must’ve been around eight months old that HCBM was on a binge and DH returned home from work to find the house empty. He frantically began calling people to locate SD when HCBM’s parents informed him that she was with them, and that HCBM had crawled out a window and was missing. A missing person’s report was filed. HCBM’s father told police to check ditches and park benches, as she could often be found there. She turned out to be at some random man’s house, and was located about 36 hours later.
DH was at the end of his ropes. He took the police report and lawyered up secretly.
Here’s a fun new component to the story, remember how I said that DH had began sleeping on the couch? In said police report, it is documented that DH and HCBM were not in a relationship and were merely roommates. Because that was the situation. Behind the scenes, HCBM had met the man of her dreams. Let’s call him PF….. for psycho fiance. Yes, they’re engaged now. We’ll get to that part. PF randomly messaged HCBM on facebook and they began talking. PF was a recovering alcoholic in his 30s with no driver’s license due to a DUI.
Now, recall when HCBM was missing? Her parents searched through her facebook accounts to try and locate her and found her messages with PF, they explained their daughter’s drinking problem and asked PF if she may be with him. She was not. They had not even met yet. But PF thinks this woman who clearly has severe personal issues is just the cream of the crop. He decides to take her out to lunch. By the end of their lunch date, he is love-bombing the daylights out of her. Calling her his wife, his galaxy, all of this grandiose crap.
Two weeks after they met, PF got HCBM’s name tattooed on him. While DH was trying to sort out a plan of action with his lawyer…. HCBM informs him that he has to move out so that PF can move in because he will soon be without a place to live. She wants to invite this man she’s known for three weeks to live with her and her baby daughter. I’ve seen the message she sent to DH, it reads, “I know it seems fast but I know in my heart that he is so good.” HCBM’s parents are thrilled.
Less than a week after PF had moved in and DH was out, the ex parte motion was filed. DH was granted full emergency custody of SD until a hearing could be held. HCBM did not see SD for nine days… and of course, DH was the villain for this.
At the hearing. DH was awarded majority custody, with HCBM being allowed one overnight a week. PF was not permitted to be present when SD was there for overnights until CPS could investigate.
Now, HCBM’s parents funneled money for lawyers, rent, utilities, basically any adult expense HCBM needs is taken care of by her parents. DH did not have the same luxury. He was working himself to death as a single dad trying to pay for his lawyer while the court battle ensued. Almost two months later, DH contacted me. We hadn’t spoken in close to a year. I was off living my own life almost halfway through college. DH just needed someone to talk to about it, and still had very strong feelings for me. I was a shoulder for him to lean on.
We began hooking up, with no real intention to enter into a relationship. I met SD and would watch her while he was at work. There was an obvious deep love between DH and me, but the circumstances were just so insane. Plus, HCBM despised me, and was weaving stories to the court about how DH was an emotionally abusive partner, a narcissist and the reason for all her drinking.
DH and I did not want the drama of HCBM knowing I was around. Since we were operating under the guise that this was just an indulgence and would end at some point, we kept our interactions a secret.
Then, the universe must’ve thought we were owed some karma for what we did during HCBM’s pregnancy. I was diagnosed with ADHD at age five and have had a prescription for stimulants since a very young age.
One morning I awoke and heard what sounded like tiny wretching from the other room. My medication had spilled out in the bottom of my purse as the safety cap was screwed on crooked. SD was playing on the floor and digging around in my purse. DH noticed her putting something in her mouth, realized it was my medication and immediately ran into the bathroom and began making her puke.
I called poison control who instructed us to bring her to the hospital. She seemed relatively normal, a bit dazed maybe. We called the ER to let them know we’d be arriving. We got there and they stuck charcoal down her throat, drew blood, the whole ordeal.
I brought my medication bottle with me to give to the nurses so they knew what she had ingested and to prove it was a legally obtained prescription. I was frantic and bawling, a nurse comforted me and told me that ingestions are extremely common and we had done the right thing by bringing her in.
SD had an elevated heart rate, was fussy and stressed. She was administered medication to help lower her heart rate and as a result had to be admitted to be monitored. The blood tests came back with extremely minimal amounts of my meds in her system, but it was protocol that she be monitored after the medication was given to regulate her heart. If you’re feeling anxious, I’ll add that SD is perfectly healthy and happy, she fully recovered and did not suffer any seizures or damage to her brain/liver etc. which were the primary concerns with this ingestion.
Since she was being admitted, HD had to inform HCBM. I had told him he should tell her immediately, but he did not want to deal with her reaction or her family arriving. I think this was a poor decision on his part. As flawed a person as she is, I do know that HCBM loves SD very much, and I can sympathize with her wanting to be informed if her daughter was being seen at the hospital.
HCBM and her family arrived, I had left to avoid the fallout and gather some things for DH to drop off while he stayed at the hospital with SD. Naturally, HCBM was in a blind rage that she had not been contacted immediately. She demanded that the CPS worker who was mandated to check in because of the ingestion file a report of negligence. The CPS worker declined, saying that there was no negligence to report. That evening, security was called to remove HCBM from the hospital because she was screaming at DH in the pediatric wing. She was told she could return on her custody day.
I went to visit DH and SD the next day, she was back to her old self and able to go home. We were nowhere near prepared for what was about to ensue.
HCBM had weaved a story that I was addicted to drugs, and that whatever I was doing had to have been in a plastic bag in my purse or how else would SD have gotten into it? HCBM and her lawyer filed an ex parte motion. Now I’m sure most of you are familiar with the workings of family court, but for those of you who aren’t; and ex parte motion is an emergency motion. It is a piece of paper laid in front of a judge. The details can be as vague or exaggerated as the writer pleases them to be, and it is not until a hearing is scheduled can anything be disputed.
HCBM and her lawyer claimed that SD had ‘overdosed’ on stimulant drugs and conveniently failed to mention that they were a legal prescription. More than that, ‘overdose’ was a completely sensationalized description of what had occurred, and not a term used at all by any of the medical professionals nor was it included anywhere in her chart of the incident. SD never lost consciousness. There was never a point where doctors were in fear for her life. But the judge sees what is put before them and signs off with the limited information they are given.
When HD filed an ex parte motion against HCBM, the hearing was scheduled for nine days later. When HCBM filed an ex parte motion against DH, the hearing was scheduled over two months later.
This was the worst time period in DH’s life. He attempted suicide. He lost an insane amount of weight. He sold beloved possessions to pay his lawyer. He did not have custody of his daughter and HCBM allowed him rare visits in public places once or twice a week.
But ah, how the tables turn.
A month before the hearing on the ex parte motion, HCBM got a DUI with SD in the car. Her driving was so ballistic, someone had called in her car. She was arrested. I could go into detail about the bullshit-ery of her and her family I read in the police report from that, but there is still so much ground to cover.
CPS notified DH of the DUI. HCBM and her lawyer told DH’s lawyer they wanted to settle custody outside of court before the ex parte hearing.
DH was exhausted. He was broke. He just wanted his daughter back. He settled with HCBM on 50/50 custody. This is perhaps the greatest regret of his life. The GAL at the meeting even told DH he didn’t have to do this, that he could fight her and probably get more custody. But DH was a shell of a person at this point. He was in debt. He was exhausted.
Mere days after they settled he checked himself into an inpatient mental health facility for treatment. He and I were in touch every once in a while throughout that entire time, but had ended our romantic relations after the ex parte was filed. I was more of a confidant and friend, but he had drifted apart from everyone in his life and I was focused on school.
The day that DH left inpatient, PF messaged him to tell him that HCBM had slipped up and drank again. Saying, “she just has such a big heart, this is so difficult for her.” DH suspects that she had gotten herself into another nearly lethal situation or gone missing and PF was hoping to do damage control by contacting him rather than him finding out another way.
So 50/50 custody it was. Nine months later, HCBM gave birth to her and PF’s son. I’m not sure of any exact dates but judging by the date of that message and the birth of the baby there is a high change HCBM was drinking while unknowingly pregnant.
For the DUI, HCBM was sentenced to 40 days in jail while pregnant with her son. It was a work release program. Since she worked for her mom, she worked as many hours as she possibly could. Her mom would pick her up from prison with her phone and her makeup so she could hide what was going on from her coworkers and the community. DH would bring SD to the gymnastics center to visit her. She had an IED put into her car when she was released, meaning she had to blow into a breathalyzer to get her car to start.
DH and I would check in every once in a while over the course of the next year. We both dated other people. HCBM of course had issues with DH’s girlfriend he was with for a few months. But things had relatively settled save for the tension and resentment between HCBM and DH.
More than a year had passed since everything transpired and since DH and I were last romantically involved. We began talking more frequently during COVID lockdown and DH admitted he was hopelessly in love with me and wanted to be together. We had a major problem though.
When HCBM and DH were settling on their custody agreement, HCBM insisted I was not to be around SD. If you recall, HD was broke, exhausted, and severely struggling with his mental health. He and I hadn’t seen each other in person in several months, we talked but very infrequently and never of rekindling our relationship in any capacity. So he gave in. As long as he could be done with the nightmare and have his daughter back.
A single sentence in a five-page custody agreement meant that I couldn’t be around SD. I want to specify, this was not a restraining order. I was never served any papers, I would not be punished in any capacity were I to see SD, there was no court record of any kind indicating that I was restricted from seeing a child or was a dangerous individual. DH wouldn’t even lose custody or face any legal ramifications were he to violate that single sentence, it would just mean an official would have to intervene to investigate and ensure the stipulation be adhered to. Still, it would’ve prevented us from having any sort of real relationship. So we filed a motion to have the line removed. I had not seen SD in well over a year and we abided by the order which was exceedingly painful.
The first hearing was before a court commissioner. We came armed with letters of recommendation from friends and family, from the families I had nannied for during college. DH’s family had finally seen the light and turned against HCBM and attended the court hearing, filing the seats.
The court commissioner spent about ten minutes reviewing our plea, and decided this was not a matter of my character or whether I was a threat to SD, but that this was a communication issue between DH and HCBM, and since DH had agreed to this, they needed to work it out between the two of them.
Ha. Like that would ever happen. DH and HCBM began communicating through a court monitored app and attending co parenting counseling while our lawyer filed a motion to bring the issue before a judge and have a GAL and Family Court Worker appointed. As we all know with family court, things move slowly and this we had to wait months to make progress on our case.
Co parenting counseling was fruitless. HCBM is not capable of accountability. She insisted DH was a narcissist because she’d read about narcissism on the internet and she believed she deserved full custody of SD.
A judge appointed a GAL and Family Court Worker to our case. I’ll never forget the relief that day as the judge told HCBM that me being in SD’s life was inevitable at this point. There was no evidence that I was a dangerous person. At one point, our lawyer brought up the language used in HCBM’s ex parte motion all that time ago, pointing out the sensational language used, specifically the term “overdose”. I was shaking when HCBM’s lawyer admitted to the judge that “there was no overdose.” I’ll never forget the sheepish look on that lawyer’s face, or how HCBM’s jaw tightened as she refused to look even a millimeter in my direction.
Everyone met with the GAL and Family Court Worker. Of course HCBM got the earliest appointment possible so she could try to sell her story. When I sat down with the GAL he said “I don’t know why you’re here, to be honest.” But that’s the ridiculous thing about family court, people can just spew this insane shit and it has to be looked into.
Both the GAL and Family Court Worker recommended the line be removed entirely. We still had to wait another month for our hearing for these recommendations to be made to the judge. Over the course of these proceedings, DH and his lawyer (with my consent) had been urging HCBM to attend a co parenting counseling session with me to address her concerns. HCBM of course vehemently refused, actually speaking to me would destroy the picture she had painted and deluded herself into believing about me.
We continued to press the issue though. After the GAL and Family Court Worker’s recommendations were passed on to everyone’s lawyers, it was clear this was not going to go in HCBM’s favor. It could’ve easily been settled outside of court, saved everyone time and money. But that was never going to happen, HCBM was going to go down swinging. Less than two weeks from our final hearing before the judge, HCBM agreed to attend co parenting counseling with me. Both parties signed NDA’s before going into these sessions, they were meant to be mediation for parents to work out their issues and not dig up fodder to toss around in court. A safe place, if you will. DH and I suspected she’d want to attend a session with me so she could fabricate some story about me being awful, or make it seem like she was being reasonable since she’d refused any and all attempts to mediate this issue civilly.
We were correct, but her feeble attempts at control were fruitless and the line was removed. I could see my girl again. Since then, DH and I got married and have been in absolute bliss as a family of three. But of course, the mess with HCBM does not stop there.
DH and I have no idea it HCBM has been drinking or not. We have no proof. She claims she got sober, but she never received any professional help or rehab so that seems doubtful to me. There are a few red flags. She now shares a car with her mother, claiming her car has “been in the shop” for well over a year now. DH explained that when she would go on drinking binges, her parents would take her car away so they could control where she went and monitor her.
We’ve also had the issue of SD not wanting to go to her mom’s house. I have ring video footage of HCBM coming to pick up SD. SD was in hysterics, she ran back in our house several times while HCBM stands annoyed in the driveway. DH sits with her and consoles her, encouraging her and telling her she will have so much fun with her mom and brother. On this particular occasion, it took 45 minutes to get SD to go with her mom. This happened numerous times. DH eventually brought this up to HCBM, expressing his concerns and saying that he wished she would participate in co-parenting their daughter in these situations rather than hiding behind her car. HCBM dismissed him, saying she was a great parent and he was obviously making SD act this way. Give SD an oscar at this point. I can’t even fathom what DH would say to make a five year old act that way.
Eventually, HCBM stopped picking SD up and instead sent her mom to get her. SD has no issue going with her grandmother. A bit suspicious to me that it was specifically her mom that caused such an upset for her.
HCBM is very obsessed with image. She dresses SD in expensive outfits with intricate hairstyles. I should add, expensive outfits that are purchased for her by HCBM’s mother. She has told DH that she is not pleased with how he sends SD to school and has concerns about his ability to parent. He sends her… a 5 year old… to school in leggings and t-shirts like the rest of the 5 year olds in her class. Don’t get me wrong, I love to dress SD up when she’ll let me and I have indulged in Rylee and Cru outfits and what not, but the majority of the time SD wears normal kid clothes. She runs and jumps and plays and likes pink and sparkles and tops with her favorite characters on them. We let her pick her crazy mismatched outfits and throw her hair up in a quick bun or braid so it is out of her face. She bathes almost excessively because she loves the bath and is a very well looked after child.
Now, HCBM lost a significant amount of weight after she got together with PF. Her mother is also extremely thin. DH has told me about how they were always doing fad diets, they’d call themselves fat and critique their appearances constantly and clearly did not have a healthy relationship to their bodies or food.
At our home, SD is fed a balanced diet but I try to encourage a positive relationship to her body and food. No food is “good” or “bad,” they simply serve different purposes. For example, carbs give us energy, protein helps us grow, sugar makes us happy, etc. Creating guilt around eating certain types of food can lead to eating disorders, body image issues, I know because I had a poor relationship to food and my body for so long. SD loves fruits and veggies. She also loves chips and candy. She is allowed to indulge in sugar within reason and without guilt. I don’t think it's rocket science, and for us it has had fantastic results. We'll be at a gas station and ask SD if she wants a snack and the kid will want celery. I follow the instagram page “kids eat in color” very closely and when we prepare SD’s meals, the “treat” component is served together with the rest and not withheld until later. This is so SD doesn’t view certain foods as special or more desirable than others, and won’t associate treat foods with this rush of excitement and overwhelming positivity moreso than say chicken nuggets or carrots. When DH sets down her plate to eat, SD rarely if ever reaches for her treat food first. She eats everything on her plate until her body tells her she’s full.
HCBM constantly berates DH about SD eating “healthy.” She criticizes him for getting candy at the movies. Goes off about her having a cup of sugar-free pudding at 11 a.m. On Halloween, SD is allowed two pieces of candy from her trick or treat pile at her mom’s house.
Last Halloween at our house, we dumped all of our candy out in a huge pile and watched a movie. SD ate, I kid you not, four pieces of candy. She didn’t feel the need to binge on all this candy because she knew it wouldn’t be withheld if she asked for more in our home. There is still halloween candy in a bucket in our pantry and we weren’t even out trick or treating for an hour.
HCBM accuses us of “competing” with her. This. Is. Rich. SD loves visiting my parent’s and sometime last fall took a liking to playing my dad’s drumset. Later that week, HCBM bought her a kid-sized drumset. We adopted a kitten, HCBM adopted a kitten. We started playing barbies as a family, HCBM buys a barbie dreamhouse. We planned a weekend trip to a big city a few hours away, HCBM and PF take SD and their son to that city the week before we’re supposed to go. My husband is a Dungeons and Dragons fanatic, and recently he has been making kid friendly campaigns for the three of us to play as a family. SD loves playing dungeons and dragons with her daddy. It has become our family’s thing. The dungeons and dragons movie came out recently and DH and I got tickets for an early screening on a day we didn’t have SD. Who do you think we saw there while we were waiting in line to get popcorn? Their family does not play dungeons and dragons. You’ll be pleased to know that SD came down to sit with us for the last half hour of the movie, PF who had taken her had to give in because they were seated a row behind us and she kept leaning forward to excitedly whisper to DH about the movie.
I have suffered extreme emotional issues due to the abuse from HCBM. I’ve attended therapy specifically to address it. I developed severe social anxiety because HCBM will tell anyone who listens these fictions about me and DH. We live in a small community, one that HCBM and her family have been a part of for a long time and I am constantly afraid people I meet will know them and have these crazy ideas about who I am as a person. The flipside of this is that their family’s reputation is not as positive as they like to think it is, particularly to police in the area. In addition to HCBM’s drunk escapades involving police, her father has a court record pages long for tax fraud.
Thankfully, I work in the city 30 minutes from where we live and that has allowed me to build my own village and have a life untainted by HCBM and her crap. Through lots of work I have been able to establish firm boundaries. I’ve had to restrict HCBM and her friends from my social media accounts after being watched obsessively. HCBM’s mother even went as far as messaging my mother on Facebook to try and say DH is a narcissist and she should be concerned for me. DH and my mom are very close, and my mom was mainly worried about how far these people were going to go to untether my life.
HCBM doesn’t seem to understand the concept of equal guardianship. She views herself as the primary parent and believes she should have access to everything in our lives. This is legally not the case so luckily we’re just able to ignore those demands but it gets taxing.
HCBM’s parents pay for SD’s health insurance so HCBM makes all of her doctor and dentist appointments and acts as though that’s because DH is an uninvolved parent, despite the fact that he has asked to make appointments on his custody days so he could go. I have excellent benefits at my job and could take SD on as a dependent since she resides with us 50% of the time. We haven’t even proposed this idea to HCBM because god knows she would never agree despite the fact that this would probably save her parents a ton of money.
HCBM has SD involved in several activities on her custody days. A bit too many for a five year old in my opinion. Multiple gymnastics and dance classes and soccer. Since HCBM’s parents are always funneling her money and paying her bills they are constantly going out to do expensive activities, weekend trips, shows, you name it. HCBM thinks these things make her a good parent, but I personally don’t think that SD feels as emotionally attached to HCBM as she does DH. DH and I spend a ton of one on one time with SD. We play with her with her toys, we do crafts, we watch movies together. HCBM thinks dropping her off at some expensive activity makes her this stellar mom, but she doesn’t engage in the same level of connection with SD that DH does. HCBM’s parents of course bought them a trip to Disney World last year, and the day they came to pick up SD to leave for the airport she did not want to go. She began crying and insisting she wanted her dad to take her, and that she would miss him too much. What five year old objects to effing Disney World??
We have issues on the horizon with SD attending kindergarten next year. I know a battle will ensue about where she attends. The custody schedule does not give us any weekend time because when it was written, SD was one and DH was working weekends and the days they agreed on coincided with his schedule. This means that when SD attends school in the fall five days a week, we will not get a full day together as a family. DH and I are very nervous about addressing this. We don’t have any desire to change the 50/50 custody, just to adjust the days so that we can have some weekend time with SD. It is likely this issue will end up in court and cost us thousands.
I have had to come to the hard acceptance that this is just how our relationship with HCBM will be, likely forever. I hold on to selfish hope that she may screw up drinking again, but at the end of the day I want what is best for SD which is a healthy and stable mother and I will do whatever I can to encourage a positive relationship for them. At this point we have no proof of her drinking for the past few years. Either she miraculously stopped or her family’s response is just so calculated to protect her from getting into any shit and jeopardizing her custody. If that is the case, that can only go on for so long before SD is old enough to tell us what is happening.
I think that HCBM is deeply insecure and ashamed. I think she needs to make DH and I the villains so she feels better about herself. I think her upbringing has allowed her to shirk any and all accountability, she is surrounded by people who tell her she’s never wrong and she’s this great person and great parent.
I don’t know what the resolution is here. If you have read this far, thank you sincerely. Though I confide in my mom and friends about the situation with HCBM, I keep my venting to a minimum so as not to let her live rent free in my life. I am not going to spend all this energy being pissed at her and her immaturity. I’m not going to give her the satisfaction of getting on my nerves, being the subject of my conversations. I’m not even going to let her think I care enough to trash her to people. But it feels extremely therapeutic to get this all out to a group of people who understand.

for the sake of this story, let’s call her M. i’m 20, she’s 21.
i met M exactly a year and a week ago. i remember the night we met like it was last night. we met at our school, which has two campuses. one in new york, and one in los angeles. M was a transfer student along with some other friends i met, we’ll call them C and Z.
it was february 20th, it was the seventh episode of the second season of “euphoria”.
i had a really bad best friend/roommate issue at the time, so bad as to realizing that they had been lying to me about a death that “fundamentally shook them”, and they were really my only friend at the school. so i was obviously having a rough time.
let me set the scene:
the walls are paper thin, euphoria has just ended for me. i’ve got no one to talk about this. so i’m just chilling.
then i hear three women scream in the room next to me… and the faint roar of “i need a hero.”
could these be my new euphoria friends?
i leapt up, went over to the neighbors, and knocked.
a few seconds went by, and i hear the door unlock.
SLAM!!
the chain lock was still on.
and from the darkness, emerged M.
when i tell you that i crumbled immediately.
she pushed her face in between the crack of the door and smiled at me.
“hiiiii”, she said.
she had brown hair, shaggy, almost like ally sheedy in the breakfast club. an easy laugh, freckles line her glowin eyes, it’s like she was chiseled from marble. i would have fallen in love with her in any situation, in any universe.
i introduce myself, i meet the three.
m’s from tennessee, c’s from washington, z’s from florida.
i invite the three to my room for a euphoria after-show discussion. the conversation lasts until the wee hours of the morning.
i immediately become connected to these women, these vivacious, beautiful, warm, and caring women.
this sets off the best three months of my life. they become the best friends i’ve ever had.
but with M, i just… felt full. i never felt judged for who i was, i felt like there was a reason for me to get up every day. M and i would just hang out, her and me. we’d sit in my bed, watching a movie, hanging out, making grilled cheese when we didn’t know what to eat. we’d go out for quick bodega runs, get a joint and inexplicably find ourselves outside, getting delightfully blitzed. i didn’t care what we were doing, i was with her. i felt a sense of oneness with her.

i knew she was my person. i still do.
i was the happiest man on earth for three months.
the four of us were inseparable. i’d also hang with C and Z separately, too… but not like M. it was always just a different vibe.
now, this is all in retrospect, but being autistic? you remember shit. really well.
in my many nights of wondering, the signs were there. especially physically.
we’d do the triangle thing to each other, you know, that look from one eye, to the other, and then to the lips. when i really thought back, she went crazy with the triangle thing, but you know what?
i was too dumb and cautious.
so i never let myself act upon the urge to divulge how i felt. i still haven’t.
now, it’s early to mid-may. almost the end of the semester, and my best friends are leaving me in the first week of june.
i am bereft at the thought of them leaving.
i am devastated that M’s going to be a country away.
one night, M doesn’t reply to a text of mine. hey, no biggie.
then she doesn’t show up to school. and i’m confused.
i bump into C, and i’m informed that she’s somewhere in new jersey with a hookup. now, i immediately confront why i feel like i’ve been stabbed.
“why would i care about a decision she made on her own? like, why am i so emotional? why am i jealous?”
i quietly seethe. she returns, she doesn’t really like him, says he only likes to do things he likes.
i get a second of relief, but i’m still reeling from it. i’m almost ashamed of how i felt.
i decided to just bury these feelings into the pits of my would because maybe deep down, she doesn’t love me that way.
and i had to be okay with that so i didn’t hurt myself.
memorial day weekend rolls around, i thought i’d invite the three over to my childhood home a state away. get out of the city for a weekend.
M’s already got plans with a friend in the state over from mine, so i just invite C and Z.
one night, i go over to return something one of them forgot in my room. i shoot her a text, she says to be quiet when i come in, C’s sleeping.
i go in, and she’s crying. a lot. and i am concerned.
“i’m okay, i just am having a hard time with the idea of leaving soon. i know i’m really going to miss you too.”
we tearfully have a conversation before i am pointed out of the room by a groggy C. we laugh, and go to our beds.
in the week leading up to this trip, C starts making moves on me, getting real flirty.
now, i’m desperate in this situation, so i’ll take any love i can get.. stupid, but human.
we get to my home friday night, we hang out, and we three drink. a lot.

C and i are laying down, she inches closer to me, and whats next is private.

it’s the first week of june now. first C leaves, then Z, and then M.
and then i’m all alone.
C and i begin a long distance relationship, it’s good for a little bit before she just decided to ignore me. she’d leave me on read, and when she’d reply, it’d be the laziest response/a vague complaint about her day. i felt like an emotional doormat. i broke up with her three months later. i wasted my love and my time.
i was love bombed and it has messed with me. i’ve only come to terms with all of this recently.
during all that, i keep consistent contact with M and Z.
i learned C wasn’t very good to M as a friend and a roommate, and i just felt guilty for not noticing.
now, we’re in the present. C’s in a happy new relationship, seems that M and Z are done with her.
i feel like the little stint “with” C set me back. i still don’t forgive her for that, fuck her and her new toy.
since their departures, i’ve managed to maintain contact with M almost daily. lately, since she’s on a semester break from LA, we’ve strengthened our contact more. i’ve fallen deeper in love. it’s almost like i’m in a pit i can’t get myself out of. we even flirt a little. we talked about myself making a trip to texas, her to new york at some time. she sent me theater job ideas that include free housing, and is within a 20 minute radius of her family’s property. we even just send each other funny videos over instagram for hours on end. it feels different too, because we actually take the time to watch what we’ve sent each other. always snapchatting, we facetime every couple of days.
i applied to that job, i thought “what the hell, it’ll get my foot in a door, i’ll learn a lot, and maybe i’ll be able to spend more quality time.”
i get the job. i go to texas. M and i make plans.
i arrive friday, shop saturday, hug my folks goodbye on sunday, and then i go spend time with M from sunday to tuesday morning, an extension she made from the plan of staying until morning. we spend the three days together, it’s great, it’s like no time has gone by. she introduced me to attack on titan, i’m already on season 2. sunday, made dinner and had a beautiful night with her family, followed by hanging out in her kitchen until the wee hours of the morning, and more quality time following.
there’s such an element of mystery. i don’t know where this is going.
i fall deeper and deeper for this woman every day. i truly believe she’s the aphrodite of my own mythology. i just fear that my worries of unrequited love will be the case once again. i know it’s not doing me any good, but i have truly never felt this way for another person.
she fills the hurt of my soul with the deepest love a man can ever feel.
i don’t know what to do now. i want to profess my love to her. i just don’t want to ruin anything, and i don’t want to become jealous if she so chooses someone other than i.
for now, my heart shall bleed in anticipation.
