2023.06.02 16:06 Garbooni Done with KCMO and Raytown

I don't know why people think it's cool to try and get free stuff/orders. They will do anything to get free stuff even if it means throwing a dasher under the bus. I have done absolutely nothing and have taken pictures to prove deliveries were made and accepted by each customer yet 2 people have said their "order never arrived". It's complete BS and I'm so tired of people being complete idiots. Kansas City and Raytown are NOTORIOUS for crap orders and customers that are constantly trying to scam. Spent an hour and a half on the phone with support to have them remove a false report a customer made. You think if the order never arrived, that they'd at least rate me badly, but never do they ever rate? Done with all these pieces of crap out there.

2023.06.02 16:06 Brunogrre Entirely fanless 2U rack ? Doable ?

Hi,
I work sales in an informatics shop and one of my customers is asking me to build a fanless 2U PC running Windows 11.
The customer wants no work to be done on the PC after it's been built so no moving parts. I went for i5-12400 with a Micro-ATX board B660M from Asrock.
8Gigs of ram, ssd 500Go storage bla bla.
A Seasonic fanless 500W PSU and most importantly a Noctua NH-L9x65 to cool the CPU but without the fan.
I tried finding an optimized CPU cooler for fanless configs but I couldn't find anything (I live in Europe, importing from US or CA is impossible).
Apparently le customer is going to use the PC normally without too much load.
Do you guys think my config is okay for that ? Because I'm wondering if the 12th Gen Intel CPU won't run too much heat... And I wouldn't want my customer to be mad at me (and my boss too...)
Would love some advices on that matter, thank you fellas.

2023.06.02 16:05 prajaybasu Has anyone made a custom cooling pad?

I guess the IETS GT500 are like $80 in the US but they're really difficult to get in my country (almost double the price after customs and import duty). I'm wondering if anyone here has actually managed to create a custom cooling pad that's not as loud as the GT500?
I'm planning on using the following steps to make my own custom cooling pad:
I also plan to shorten the laptop stand by a few inches since I only have 14" laptops to reclaim the desk space and let the custom cooler collect all the dust instead of my laptop fans.
Does that sound like a good idea? I know IETS uses a blower fan that's either made for laptops or for a GPU so they run at really high RPMs but I'm thinking if I use the 140mm fans it'll move the same amount of air with less RPM and noise.
The cost is about the same as a GT500 minus all the labor for cutting the plastic, which seems to be the worst part of this.

2023.06.02 16:05 mduda59625 Yearning for New Jersey

Recently, I embarked on a journey, bidding farewell to the captivating landscapes of California. I found myself in different places, including Florida and Massachusetts. However, my heart ached for the familiar embrace of New Jersey, a place that held a special and irreplaceable spot in my soul.
Florida's tropical beauty couldn't capture the essence of home. The scorching heat and dry climate left me yearning for the changes in weather that New Jersey graciously provided. Massachusetts, while charming, couldn't compare to the beauty and untouched nature that had become a part of me. I missed the enchantment of New Jersey's landscapes, where the lush forests, beautiful beaches and vibrant trees painted a picturesque scene.
New Jersey, with its diverse communities and vibrant economy, held a place in my heart that no other location could replace. It symbolized the sense of community and belonging that made it feel like home. The diversity of the state brought a richness of perspectives and experiences that fostered innovation and collaboration. Driving through its scenic roads, surrounded by the beauty of nature, brought a sense of peace and familiarity.
The yearning for home, for the captivating landscapes of New Jersey, remains deeply rooted within me. The memories of exploring its diverse cities and towns, the joy of witnessing its natural wonders, continue to evoke a profound longing. While I appreciate the experiences gained in my current surroundings, they cannot replicate the unique charm that New Jersey holds.
While my journey has allowed personal growth, the allure of New Jersey's charm remains steady. I cherish the memories and treasures woven into the fabric of my being during my time there. I eagerly await the opportunity to once again be embraced by its captivating beauty and reconnect with the sense of community that makes New Jersey an irreplaceable and cherished home. I miss New Jersey!

2023.06.02 16:01 RandomHypnotica 00s Pop Punk Rate

Hello all-american rejects, mothers of Stacy and Hoobastankarinas! It is finally time to rate one of the subgenres of all time - pop punk! Welcome to the 00s Pop Punk Rate.

Introduction - What Is Pop Punk?

Pop punk is a genre that was invented by musical artist Machine Gun Kelly in the year 2020.
No but really, despite the sendup of it MGK contributed, the subgenre actually has a long and storied history dating back to the 1970s. One could argue bands such as The Ramones were essential foundations for the genre, if not themselves being a pop punk band. A reaction to the emergence of punk in the 70s, pop punk takes the energetic thrashings of punk music and overlays the sensibilities of pop song-crafting. Pop-punk saw an explosion of popularity in the late 90s with the rise of bands such as Blink-182, Green Day and The Offspring, and arguably hit its peak in the 00s with the creation of Van’s Warped Tour, a touring music festival that featured a lineup of some of the biggest pop-punk, post-punk and metal acts of the time. Alongside its rise, it would come to incorporate elements of ska, college rock, emo and post-punk.
Another element of pop-punk that differentiates it from punk is its lyrical focus. While punk’s focus tends to be heavily political and explicitly anti-authoritarian, pop-punk trades that topical focus for poppier subjects - love, lust, drunkenness, and how much the singers truly hate this town (worth mentioning that while this is in general true, especially of more mainstream pop punk acts, there are some notable exceptions).
In discussions of subgenres of punk, pop-punk tends to be largely ignored or snidely dismissed by both pop and punk communities but I think this is unfair. Yes, its lyrical subjects are often sophomoric and steeped in teen angst. Yes, the pop focus can cause the songs to feel derivative for some punk listeners. Yes, the culture surrounding pop punk has given us moments that are unintentionally hilarious. However, there is a reason this genre gained such attention - to borrow a phrase from pop, because it slaps. It takes pop music and thrashes it around. It fills the listener with nostalgic angst with power chord after power chord. It is an ode to the immaturity of youth. It is wildly influential; you can see pop-punk’s fingerprints in tons of modern genres - emo rap, hyperpop, and even Billboard-smashing pop songs.
Pop-punk is fun and raucous and a fantastic send-up to the teenage years many of us reminisce about. Today, it gets its due. Happy rating. - u/seanderlust

BONUS

Okay, so.
The 00s pop punk era of course coincided with the rise of a number of other genres. Seeing an opportunity for a genre overlap in the interest of gaining fans from other genres, indie punk and metal label Fearless Records put out a series of compilation albums over the 00s and 10s. These CDs contained tracks of punk bands doing covers of pop, metal, and various other genres. They referred to it under the umbrella term Punk Goes… and featured such titles as Punk Goes Metal, Punk Goes 80s, and Punk Goes Crunk.
The most popular though, and the one that garnered the most subsequent albums was Punk Goes Pop. In this series, punk bands covered various pop songs that were popular at the time in punkier stylings. Think of it as Now That’s What I Call Music, but if all the songs were sung by Mayday Parade. It was an interesting idea and gained the involved punk bands attention outside of their core fanbase. I mean come on - pop?! AND punk??!! What is this, a crossover episode?
For our bonus rate, we will be rating a sample of tracks that were recorded for the Punk Goes… series. Some of these are quite good! Some of these are certainly pieces of music that musicians decided to record! But which is the best? That is for you, dear popheads, to decide.
  1. Yellowcard - Everywhere
  2. All Time Low - Umbrella
  3. Mayday Parade - When I Grow Up
  4. The Cab - Disturbia
  5. Artist Vs Poet - Bad Romance
  6. The Ready Set - Airplanes
  7. Go Radio - Rolling In The Deep
  8. The Downtown Fiction - Super Bass
  9. Seaway - Closer
To be clear: Rating these songs is optional. You can give a score to one of them, two of them, all nine, or any number in between. You cannot use your 0 or 11 on any of them.

Rules & Instructions

PLEASE READ THESE THOROUGHLY TO AVOID HAVING TO DEAL WITH ANY PROBLEMS WITH YOUR BALLOT LATER.

  • You must listen to and score every song in the main rate. Ballots with missing scores will not be accepted.
  • Your scores must be on a scale from 1 to 10 and can include one decimal place but no more. So 7.3 is fine, but 7.31 is not.
  • You may give one song in the whole rate a score of 11 and one other a score of 0, so if you want to award these scores, save them for your favourite and least favourite songs in the rate, respectively. You must leave a comment on the songs you give an 11 or a 0, and they must be songs from the main rate, not the bonus.
  • We encourage you to leave comments of your general thoughts or reasoning behind your scores on any songs you wish. If you choose to do so however, they must be in this format, simply leaving one space after your score:
```
One Of THOSE Nights: 3 They wanna be Juicy J feat. The Weeknd soooooo bad ```
Any other formats will get your ballot rejected. WRONG EXAMPLES:
```
I Woke Up In A Car: Yeah but did you wake up in a new Bugatti? (8) (WRONG!)
The Curse Of Curves: 7: me getting a D+ on my trigonometry homework (WRONG!)
```
  • Your ballot must be formatted exactly like the template in the message link, so make sure you use it, or the template in the backup pastebin, for your scores to be accepted.
  • Your scores are not confidential. They will be revealed, along with any comments, with your username attached.
  • DO NOT SABOTAGE the rate by giving outrageously low/high scores for the sole purpose of skewing the results, we reserve the right to exclude any ballot we suspect of this. If you're worried your scores could be mistakenly perceived as such, all you need to do is leave comments explaining the reasoning behind them.
  • If you want to change any of your scores or comments after you've already submitted your ballot, feel free to message myself or my cohost u/seanderlust before the submission deadline to sort it.
Finally, here are the links you'll need to start rating:
Submission Link
If there's a problem with it, here's the backup pastebin.
And the playlists of all the songs in the rate.
Enjoy!
2023.06.02 15:51 AdMore44 Air handler keeps icing over - how to handle HVAC company
I bought a house in January 2021 with a brand new Ruud heat pump - installed in Sept 2020 for the previous owner. 2 months ago (so less than 3 yrs old) one night I noticed the system was running on cool but failing to keep temp to 72. Went to the handler and water is dripping out the bottom thru filter. Turned system off, opened it up and it was an ice box inside.
Called an HVAC company (not the ones who installed the system) and a tech came out after hours and pretty quickly diagnosed a refrigerant leak. He said it was a slow leak and that it was coming from the weld where the refrigerant line meets the condenser outside. He described the weld done by the installer as sloppy but said something to the effect of "good luck getting them to own up to it - they'll claim it was fine when they did it and that it could have been damaged/tampered with after." Quoted me $1,600 to fix.
I convinced myself to get a second opinion from the company that did the install for the previous owner and give them a chance to make it right if it was their error. FWIW they have a 4.9 star aggregate rating on Google vs most of the other companies which seem to be in the 4.4 - 4.7 range. Tech came out and said there was no leak but rather that the TXV valve was bad. He quoted me $1,400 to fix it. Sounded high given the part is under warranty, but he said the warrantied part is only a couple hundred and the $1,400 is for all the labor plus additional parts that need to be replaced when a TXV is replaced. Against my better judgment I agreed as he sounded convincing and at least it was less than the other company quoted.
Less than 1 month later the same thing happened again - air handler iced over. Called the installing company and got the service manager who was apologetic, said he would send out a senior tech with 20+ years experience and make it right. Second tech said there is indeed a leak where the first company said. He said his leak detector only picked it up when he turned the system on heat which uses higher pressure, implying that this is why the previous tech missed it. He said he fixed the leak and didn't charge me anything.
Barely 24 hours later, FOR THE THIRD TIME the same thing happens - air handler iced over and I hear a whistling sound from the freon line. I'm waiting on a call back from the service manager.
I'm a first time homeowner. I know Murphy's law and all that but I expected some peace of mind buying a house with a brand new system so I'm incredibly stressed and frustrated right now. Could there be some underlying problem that a tech with 20+ years really missed? How likely is it that the root cause is connected to their install? Should I be thinking of suing these people at this point? I'm tempted to call another company but then I'd have to pay and I cannot imagine being $3,000+ invested in repairs to a system that is less than 3 years old.
2023.06.02 15:46 chop_your_cock_off First trip to Italy - recap report
Just finished my first trip to Italy and what a great experience. Wanted to share my experience here for other first time travelers and some things I would have done differently. The trip was broken up into 3 legs and spread across 12 days - Tuscany (5), Rome (2), and Amalfi (5). I'll include some details of itinerary and travel.
Apologies for a long post, but hopefully someone will get some good info out of this!
To prep for the trip, I used the Duolingo app for about 3 months to try and make sure I knew enough Italian to get by. Of course, the moment my plan touched down all that studying I did flew out of my head and I basically forgot it all! In the end I was able to get by with just greetings, ordering food/drink/cafe and simple hi, how are you type phrases. For reference, my wife did no studying and picked it up right away. Only shock to her was that there was no such thing as iced coffee.
Tuscany
We flew into Milan and rented a car at the airport. Would definitely recommend this because once you are into Tuscany it is hard/expensive to find drivers and Uber is basically non-existent.
Stayed at the Como Castello del Nero hotel. The hotel was beautiful and had everything you could want. Rolling and picturesque hills from every vantage point, a great pool, good fitness facilities and a nice spa. The staff at the hotel were world class as well. The restaurants on property were very nice however quite expensive. We did eat on the property a few times, but I think i preferred my meals off property and in the smallelocal restaurants more. I would have planned more dinners off property if I had to do anything differently here. Favorite meal was at La Capanna del Gallo, a smaller restaurant which was a short drive from our hotel.
For activities we visited a few wineries/vineyards as well as did a bit of hiking. We were a little jet lagged and did spend a bit of time just relaxing and drinking wine by the pool. The winery that absolutely blew me away was the Antinori Vineyard in Bargino . We did the CRU tour which included an in-depth tour of the facilities, tasting of several vintages and then a lunch with wine pairing. Would highly recommend visiting here. One of the mom-and-pop vineyards that we visited and i would also recommend is Il Palagio di Palazzo. Did the CRU tour here as well and was very pleased.
Rome
Used the rental car to travel from Tuscany to Rome, then returned the car near our hotel in Rome.
Stayed at the Baglioni Hotel Regina. Nice enough hotel, but the rooms were a little dated. Technically classified as a 5 star hotel but I probably would have classified it as a 4 star. Still, decent enough stay and staff. Plus for the location as well. We booked this hotel because it was purely in a good location and more of a 'utilitarian' choice - we knew that we weren't going to be spending a lot of time here so the hotel didn't matter all that much.
As we were only in Rome for two days, we really tried to pack in as much as we could. On the day we arrived we spent the afternoon walking around and just taking in the city. We had dinner in the Testaccio neighborhood, which i would highly recommend. We ate at Felice, which was a bit touristy but i think still worth it for some excellent cacio e peppe.
Trevi Fountain - its whatever - cool i guess but absolutely mobbed.
Colosseum - very cool. Did an early morning guided tour which was booked on Viator.
Vatican Museum - Also very cool but a bit long for our taste. Did a 4 hour private/guided tour booked through Context Travel. We were able to get 'behind the ropes' in a lot of places to look at things away from general public which was nice, but its very crowded in the main areas.
If we had to do something different in Rome it would for sure be spacing out activities or just booking a day or two more. All in all, we went to Rome knowing that we would be very busy and very 'touristy' but I think slowing it down a bit would have made this portion of the trip a little nicer. Still, Rome is great and would love to get back.
Amalfi
Took the train from Roma Termini to Naples. Our hotel arranged for a transfer from Naples to the hotel.
Stayed at Borgo Santandrea just outside of Amalfi town. Hands down nicest hotel I have ever even stepped foot inside. Seriously 5 star all the way through with no detail overlooked. One detail I loved is that it smelled amazing in throughout the hotel which actually was a really nice touch. The hotel had an amazing pool and is the only hotel in Amalfi that his its own beach club. The staff were top notch and I think there was a staff-to-guest ratio of like 3:1. The hotel also had a free shuttle that would drop-off/pickup from Amalfi town whenever you needed which was a real life saver in terms of time and money.
For activities we visited Ravello, Amalfi and Positano (sort of) then utilized our hotel's beach club for a few lazy days. Ravello was my favorite of the cities to visit. There were tourists yes, but much fewer than all the other cities. We visited Villa Cimbrone which has a spectacular garden and amazing views. You should go here for a nice cocktail or glass of wine. We went out in Amalfi town for dinner several times and never had a bad meal. We tried to branch off the main square and into some alleyways to find hidden gems, but all in all I would say most of the restaurants were comparable at the $$$ price range on google maps. Finally, we planned to visit Positano but scrapped it at the literal last minute - we rented a boat to take us from our hotel's dock to Positano but as we approached Positano it just appeared overrun by people. Instead we had our boat driver just cruise us around the coast. This ended up being one of my favorite days. The cost was $100/hour so actually pretty reasonable. Beach club at Borgo Santandrea was also a highlight - not crowded at all and the service is great. You can visit the beach club even if you don't stay at the hotel, so I would say its worth it even just for a nice lunch and cocktails. The pizza at the beach club is really good, although a little pricey at roughly 30 euros for a basic pizza.
I don't think I would really change anything about the Amalfi portion of my trip other than trying to extend it!
Just to give everyone an idea on budget, I think we spent roughly $25,000 for two people during the trip of a lifetime.
unknown 6 heatpipe thermalright cooler - possibly the burst assassin non-argb model without fan 2nd hand from the 12400 guy. tower only. has blemish/nick on contact surface. his laundry detergent had fragrance, so i couldn't use it. he also didn't clean the paste off and shipped it in a ziplock bag. i cleaned it as well as i could and replaced the bag. 15?/10
Motherboards
msi b660m mortar wifi ddr4 mobo vrms have coil whine crackle-hum using turbo boost, most likely related to powerstate/frequency switching (disappears when fully loaded or not doing anything) or concurrent with putting load on the integrated graphics, tried a whole bunch of bios settings to stop it, C1E enabled reduces it. integrated graphics culprit unverified due to case and difficulty with it; haven't tested a discrete card to eliminate igpu cause. latest bios(v19) at the time is flashed, need earlier bios version for avx512 capability, tried to get that instruction set working but found out it involves tainting my kernel and i don't use windows but if you do, the only os-side step is to move the specific intel microcode file out of system32. replaced the ilm with the thermalright one. includes right angle usb3 header adapter. 100/100
msi b660m a pro ddr4 wifi 2nd hand from 12400 guy. has smudge on backside near cpu bracket from alcohol solubility test on the paint; backside is alcohol soluble. has same scent as others from him. he did a bad paste job on cpu area and shipped it that way, i cleaned it up (no socket pins got paste on them thankfully because he didn't remove cpu from the board) tested and it works. comes with windows 10 pro key. the m.2 wifi card was worked, but putting it back in this board... i didn't have enough finger dexterity. one of the contact n!pp!es is bent, needs to be bent back. can't get it back out to do that, stuck. includes piece of factory glue that goes between the contacts and holds the leads in place. treat as non wifi version with potential bonus for trying hard enough. anti static bag on one side MAY have trace of urushiol due to being blown away when airing out onto a patch of cracked concrete where two weeks previously had been a sprout which had been disposed of then the area alcohol-doused then two rainstorms. includes right angle usb3 header adapter. 80/70
GPU
xfx rx460 4gb 2nd hand from a miner in 2021. was dirty but cleaned it, had mining bios, and the standard bios or other custom bios don't seem stable, but it works with a rx560 bios i modded to rx550 clocks. thought i saw something spherically, iridescently marbled green-yellowgreen falling from it when putting it back together after cleaning but couldn't find the drop or where it may have dropped from, capacitors look ok. single fan version. has annoying blue led. requires 6-pin pcie power even though it draws less than 75w. 45/35
Cases
sama im01 hohboy, man oh man, this case.... removing the front panel carefully according to the manual causes the top clips to break(so that's why it includes two spares), and is difficult to work in even though all sides but the back come off. can't put a discrete gpu in because it can't go into the slot all the way; something about the mobo tray being depressed or pci slot design prevents it. front left usb3.0 defective (blips then doesn't work) but the right one is functional. pci slot magnetic swinging screw cover hinge is a bit bent because the top and bottom packaging foam were switched in factory(foam cutouts did not align). matx mobo prevents bottom from having second fan if not want to risk mobo header bending. 60/30
lian li lancool 216 black non-rgb model opened the box and took out the inner accessory box on top but put it right back because became busy and never got around to using it. did not take out the case. almost literally open box. do not know state of tempered glass but jiggling box does not make broken glass sound. 100/90
thermaltake tr2 430np don't know if it was 2nd hand or not. used to power a windows xp office machine which was bought without one. Don't use more than 350 watts; here is a review of the unit showing why- https://www.hardwaresecrets.com/thermaltake-purepower-430w-np-power-supply-review/ its F-tier but would personally trust it in a system pulling less than 100 or so from the wall. one cable with 20+4-pin motherboard connectors one cable with 6-pin pcie connector one cable with 4-pin 12v connector one cable with 3 molex connectors two cables with 3 molex and 1 floppy connector one cable with 2 sata connectors one molex-to-sata converter 20/5
cablemod black modflex EPS 4+4 pin 45cm extension sf600 needs the extension to reach the mobo receptacle in the sama case 9/9
Peripherals/Accessories
hp zr24w + ergodepot J2 monitor arm 60hz, 1920x1200, 24inch. 12 years use. ccfl backlight has been on for ~3.3 years. came with a scratch not noticeable when on most of the time. has smudges from over a decade of use, not trusting myself to clean it without scratching. includes J2 monitor arm (desk clamp), but makes it skew a little. when powered on, it knocks channel 6 out of the airwaves until it is turned off. flickers below 100% brightness. 50+40?(90?)/50+20(70)
presonus eris E3.5 studio monitors were on my desk for 10 days and powered on at low volume for under an hour, may be low amount of specks of dust, and the speaker wire had been connected, but otherwise is as if you opened up a new one. didn't like the space they took up and preferred my headphones, but B&H would not take these back because i told them i used the included speaker wire. no joke. 90/80
samson go mic 2nd hand. works, good shape. usb condenser with omni/-10/cardioid switch and 3.5mm jack. has sticker covering the led to diminish the brightness. 25/15
xbox 360 wired controller didn't use it often, but owned it for a really long time. the left thumbstick has worn down, is low tension, and can drift slightly if off center to the northwest. 10/4
asus xonar dx 2nd hand. used for a few months in 2011 but was too close to gpu intake so put it away. 30/18
logitech c600 webcam model V-U0007 12/5
Summary first number taken from recent reasonable hardwareswap/ebay sales and amazon(when first two no/little results) and second number what i'd pay for the item in question if I was someone else, based on what is known of the condition. Paid 1300+ for just the parts bought in the last year, so imo this is a super deal if you are in the area. Total: 1299/1073
2023.06.02 15:40 Serial-_-Chiller I wanted to say how much I appreciate Valencia and its people
I visited Valencia/Spain for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it was so cool.
I loved everything in the city, how green it is, how nice and relaxed people are, the affordability of mostly everything (I heard it's getting worse tho). I loved that you have a park going through the city. I loved all the colorful flowers around. The vibe of the city and just about anything I did there.
I liked that there are so many bike paths and that the city is so walkable. Everywhere I went was so clean and I felt safe.
I hope you appreciate the city as much as it deserves to. And I also hope I can move there for at least a short time so I can enjoy the city much more.
Gracias :)
2023.06.02 15:37 hurtmore Several years ago I was half of a two person team responsible for maintaining the US Navy’s presentation silver vault. We had over 5k individual pieces of silver from decommissioned ships. Everything from 4 gallon punch bowls, candelabras, and silver ware sets.
When a ship is commissioned, whoever or wherever it’s named after traditionally donates silver to the ship. The Navy does not own this silver, and whoever donates it still own it. When the family can be found it is returned to them when the ship is decommissioned. A lot of times the navy doesn’t know who to return it to. It’s more confusing when a state or city donates it. We try to find museums to give it to, but that is hard. When it has nowhere to go it ends up in the vault. The best/biggest set was from the USS California. It was a battle ship. I don’t have pictures, but I still sometimes dream about the silver. I am glad security was so tight on it all. If it wasn’t, I am sure I would have been tempted to borrow some.
2023.06.02 15:32 onlinecoolers Air Conditioner in UAE: A Guide to Choosing the Right Cooling Solution
Are you looking for the perfect air conditioner to beat the scorching heat in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)? With the soaring temperatures in the region, having an efficient and reliable cooling solution is essential. In this article, we will explore the different types of air conditioners available in the UAE, important factors to consider when choosing one, and tips for maximizing cooling efficiency in your space.
Introduction to Air Conditioners in the UAE
Air conditioners play a vital role in providing comfort and respite from the hot and humid climate in the UAE. Whether you’re looking for a cooling solution for your home, office, or commercial space, it’s important to select the right air conditioner that suits your specific needs and preferences.
Types of Air Conditioners in the UAE
  1. Window Air Conditioners: Window AC units are compact and fit into a window or a slot in the wall. They are a popular choice for small spaces and are relatively affordable. These units typically cool a single room or a small area.
  2. Split Air Conditioners: Split ACs consist of two units — an indoor unit and an outdoor unit. The indoor unit is installed inside the room, while the outdoor unit is placed outside. Split ACs offer better cooling efficiency, quieter operation, and the ability to cool larger areas.
  3. Central Air Conditioning Systems: Central AC systems are suitable for cooling large commercial spaces, such as malls, hotels, and office buildings. They consist of a central cooling unit that distributes cool air through ducts to different areas. These systems provide centralized control and efficient cooling for extensive spaces.
  4. Portable Air Conditioners: Portable AC units are mobile and can be moved from one room to another. They are versatile and do not require permanent installation. Portable ACs are a good option if you need cooling flexibility or have space constraints.
Factors to Consider When Choosing an Air Conditioner
  1. Room Size: Consider the size of the room or area that needs to be cooled. A small room may require a window or split AC, while larger spaces may benefit from central air conditioning systems.
  2. Energy Efficiency: Look for air conditioners with high energy efficiency ratings. Units with higher energy efficiency will help reduce electricity consumption and save on utility bills.
  3. Cooling Capacity: Ensure that the AC unit’s cooling capacity matches the size of the space you want to cool. A unit with inadequate cooling capacity may struggle to cool the room efficiently.
  4. Noise Levels: Consider the noise levels produced by the air conditioner, especially if you plan to use it in bedrooms or quiet areas. Look for AC units with lower noise levels for a more peaceful environment.
  5. Additional Features: Check for additional features such as programmable timers, sleep modes, remote control, and air purification filters. These features can enhance convenience and improve indoor air quality.
Tips for Maximizing Cooling Efficiency
  1. Proper Insulation: Ensure proper insulation of windows, doors, and walls to prevent cool air from escaping and hot air from entering the room.
  2. Regular Maintenance: Schedule regular maintenance and cleaning of your air conditioner to keep it running efficiently. Clean or replace air filters as recommended by the manufacturer.
  3. Smart Thermostats: Consider using smart thermostats that allow you to control the temperature remotely and set schedules for optimal cooling.
  4. Zoning: If you have a central air conditioning system, consider implementing zoning techniques to cool specific areas as needed, optimizing energy consumption.
  5. Shading and Curtains: Use curtains or blinds to block direct sunlight and reduce heat gain inside the room.
Conclusion
Selecting the right air conditioner in the UAE is crucial for maintaining a comfortable indoor environment. Consider the type of air conditioner that suits your needs, factors such as room size and energy efficiency, and follow tips to maximize cooling efficiency. With the right cooling solution, you can stay cool and beat the heat in the UAE’s challenging climate.
2023.06.02 15:29 fuckerino0012 Are the powerful GPUs in today's gaming laptops too much for their internal coolers and their long-term longevity?
Or cooling technology has finally caught up with the power increase as well over these years of gaming laptop development. And some are just overly skeptical with laptops, preferring desktop instead. Like me. I considered years of the samely sized 15' and 18' laptops having problems everytime they have the hightier hardware on 'em, over the years, and wondering how those cooling solutions fared as how the heated( literally and figuratively) tech progresses. Planning to buy a high powered laptop if the notebook will last me 5 to even 7 years, yea I'm optimistic.
2023.06.02 15:18 ElysianParadise88 The Cure for Nocturnal Emissions
First and foremost: don’t think of women. Lustful thoughts provoke activity in the sexual glands. If we think of sex, we shouldn’t be surprised if we suffer a nocturnal discharge. It is important not to excessively raise the internal heat of the body which is generated by a passionate mood or by eating hot rajasika food such as that with much chili powder. Ayurveda also cautions putting downward pressure on the genitals by packing the stomach with food.
Diet and eating habits, therefore, are very important. Transcendentalists should eat simply (See section on “Eating” under “Health”) and moderately. By overeating, more energy is taken into the body than it can use, which tends to make it come out in the form of seminal discharge. And an overly filled belly exerts pressure on the genitals, causing a tendency towards seminal discharge.
Avoid sleeping with a full belly—a yogi practices not eating at night. The last meal should be taken at least 2-3 hours before sleeping. The food should be light and easily digestible. Even hot milk should not be taken immediately before retiring, but about half an hour before. Rich, heavy, fried, spicy, and sweet foods heat the body, so be cautious with them, especially at night. Sour foods (such as sour or acidic fruit and yogurt) and bitter foods should be avoided at night, as should sweets, cheese, and thick milk preparations. Milk that has gone even slightly sour should not be taken at night.
Some vegetables contain a substance that thins the semen, making it prone to discharge. Worst among them is eggplant. The skin of eggplant is especially bad. Next worst is green chilies. Traditional Sri Vaisnavas exclude chilies, tamarind, and drumsticks (a type of vegetable) from their diet because of their sexually stimulating effect. Carrots, drumsticks, and to a lesser extent beetroot, heat the semen and therefore make it prone to discharge. However, this effect is not very pronounced, and brahmacaris can take these vegetables in moderate quantities.
Some Ayurvedic authorities recommend sleeping on the right side as best for brahmacarya. Next best is the left side, not so good is on the back, and absolutely bad for health and dangerous for seminal discharge is sleeping on the stomach. Sleep with the back more or less straight (not curled up) and with the hands away from the genital area. If you are a light sleeper, try to rest in such a place that you won’t be disturbed. Before resting, pass all water out of the bladder, wash hands and feet with cool water, and dry them.
Constipation is a major factor behind nocturnal emission. If the bowels are not cleared daily, stool and associated toxins accumulate in the rectum or colon. This increases the pitta (heat) in the area and also exerts pressure on the seminal sac, facilitating the excretion of semen. However, straining when passing stool should be avoided, as this also exerts pressure on the seminal sac.
Considering that the body is always producing semen, occasional spillage may be taken as natural overflow. Sastra gives rituals for physical and mental purification for such accidental emissions, although for ISKCON brahmacaris, bathing and chanting Hare Krsna is sufficient. In such cases, brahmacaris need not be blamed for breaking the principles or not practicing them properly.
Still, the less it happens the better, and brahmacaris, besides engaging in directly devotional practices, must try to control seminal loss by whatever methods they can easily adopt. They should be mindful about what, when, how much and where they eat, their sleeping habits, who they talk with and listen to, their posture while sleeping and sitting, and their overall physical health. They may also take to physical exercises or yoga if it genuinely helps their brahmacari life.
You MUST avoid processed foods void of lifeforce energy like meats, cheeses, bread, sweets, and cooked food in general!
2023.06.02 15:12 GiantLemonade AITA for not wanting to go on a party I was uninvited from?
My (18M) girlfriend (17F) has a cousin who is turning 8 years old next weekend. About 1 month ago his mom invited me and over 300 people to his birthday party, which was planned to be on an expensive party room in our city. My gf and I both confirmed our attendence. He is a really cool kid, even though i don't know him too much I've seen him multiple times at family gatherings and we did have a pretty long and memorable conversation about minecraft once, about how he didn't know how to find a portal that is necessary to finish the game and I helped him.
Turns out that the party room the mom choosed has a capacity limit of 200 people. His mom invited many more than that because she was afraid of people not confirming, and when they confirmed, she started sending private messages uninvinting specific people. 3 days ago I received one of that messages. It was cool to me, I understood her reasoning and didn't want to create a situation about it.
But today a lot of the kids who had confirmed their attendence cancelled, including the same ones that confirmed way after me and my girlfriend. The mom reached out to my gf saying that i was invited again. However, now I don't feel like going cause I was uninvited twice (including a similar incident last year) and I just don't feel like it.
When I told my gf that I don't want to go anymore she said I was being proud and would miss out on enjoying the party with her. AITA?
2023.06.02 15:07 Mythos_Industries Papa Bones: Time II
I’ve spent the last couple of days helping repair the damage to the town from the attack. The events of that day keep replaying in my mind. I’m convinced something was off but I can’t but my finger on it. As I think about this, I lay down a sheet of singles. I make the nails hover above it and slam down. Securing the sheet to the wood.
“Papa Bones.” A woman named Elizabeth calls out.
I straighten up and wipe my forehead with a rag. “Yes?”
Elizabeth wands me a glass of water. “It is absolutely hot out here. Thought you could use this.”
I take the glass. “Thank you. I take a drink and say. “I should be done here in a hour.”
“Thank you for helping us…it’s just…”
“Just what?” I ask.
“It’s just…you’re not abusing your powers helping us. Are you?”
I give her a warm smile. “I can see where you are coming from but no. I’m protector of Ayzian. I use my powers to protect and help. Even if I’m just putting shingles on. So no. I’m not abusing my powers.
Elizabeth smiles back. “I just wanted to make sure that you wouldn’t displease the Loa by helping like this.”
“I appreciate your concern.”
I finish the water and hand the glass back. “If it makes you feel better. I’m repairing a chicken coop after this. It’s a smaller project so I will be using a hammer.” I teases.
“Sounds good.” Elizabeth says before becoming serious. “If you need anything, just ask.”
“I will. Thank you.”
Elizabeth nods and climbs down the ladder. I look around. By the looks of it, I will need two more sheets of singles. I look down and two more sheets float out of the bag and up to me. I secure them and true to my word, I was done with the repairs in about a hour. I clean up the area and say my goodbyes. Like usual, the afternoon was hot as hell and I decide to cool down at Pops’s restaurant. I walk to the restaurant and when I walk in I close my eyes.
“Your black ass going to stand there all day and block the customers from coming in?”
I open my eyes and look at Pops. “I happen to be a customer.”
“What do you want?” Pops asks.
“Ice tea. Large.” I ask.
Pops points to the ice tea dispenser. “You know where it is.” Then he walks into the kitchen.
I grab a glass and fill it with ice and pour the tea. I sit down as Marcus walks out of the kitchen. “Julian!”
I take a sip and nod. “Hey, Marcus. Working the lunch rush?”
He stands behind the counter. “Yeah. My shift is almost over.”
It’s been a bit since we talked. “How are things?” I ask.
“Good. Good. I’m learning a lot from Pops. He says I will be able to contact a Loa soon.”
I lean back and smile. “Excellent. How is the cooking lessons going?”
Marcus smiles. “Even better. Pops says I got talent and here in a few years. My gumbo will be as half as good as his.”
I chuckle. “You know what that means, right?”
“No. What?”
“You are very good.” I say.
“Really? How come he don’t say that?”
“Compliments from Pops is rarely given out. To be your age and for him to say that means you are very good. You just got to know how Pops works.”
“Cool.”
“The ultimate judge is my friend Faust. She loves Pops’s gumbo. You get a thumbs up from her, you got something special.”
“I’ll have to cook for her one day.” Marcus says.
“Oh, she would love that.”
“Hey, can I ask you a question?”
I take another sip. “Sure.”
“I made a dish. Blackened chicken on some fettuccine alfredo. I like it. My mom likes it.”
“Pops is giving you static.” I add.
“Yeah. He says it’s not a good fit for the restaurant because it’s not traditional Cajun cooking. But I think it will do good here.”
I take another sip before answering. “Pops is old as hell and set in his ways but there is a way.”
“How?” Asks Marcus.
“Faust. Her word goes a long way with Pops. Impress her and her word will almost guarantee it will be sold here.”
“Ok. How do I do that? When is she coming here?”
I finish my iced tea. “I’ll tell you what. You make it and some gumbo and I will take it to her.”
“You will?” Asks Marcus.
“Sure. I always support young entrepreneurs.”I say.
“Sweet!”
I hold a hand up. “Easy there. I’m busy right now. Here in a few days when the town is squared away. I’ll do it.”
“Thanks Julian.”
“No problem.” I say.
Pops walks out of the kitchen. “Boy, you done corrupting my worker?”
“Almost. Word on the street is that Marcus’s gumbo is as good as yours.” I say.
Pops hurumphs. “Huh. I don’t know about all of that. He is a better dishwasher than you.”
Me and Marcus share a smile.
“Sir, I cleaned the tables. Can I go now?” Marcus asks.
“Yeah, I saw you prepared the okra.”
“I sure did.” Marcus says.
“Sure. Can you swing by and help at dinner?”
“I sure can, sir.”
Pops looks at me. “I don’t know why people complain about todays youth. He works harder than your lazy ass.”
“That’s my cue to leave.” I say as I stand. I look at Marcus. “Walk you home?”
“Sure.”
We leave Pops and enter the heat of the early afternoon.
“I can’t wait to make my blackened chicken for Faust.”
“I’m sure it will be a hit.” I say.
“Hey, Julian. What was that thing in the sky the other day? My mom was scared.”
“I don’t blame her. I was kinda scared myself.”
“You were scared?” Asks Marcus.
“Sure. Why wouldn’t I be? As far as what it was. I couldn’t tell you what it was. It was odd. I hope it won’t happen again.”
“What if it does?”
“Then Papa Bones will protect the town again.”
We walk another few steps before I speak again.
“No matter what. The Loa help us. My situation is more condensed than the standard practitioner of Voodoo. For example, Marionette of the dry arms.”
“What about her?” Asks Marcus.
“She loathes enslavement. She has helped us break our chains both metaphorically and literally. That’s why Ayzian is the way it is. All are welcome here.”
“I see.”
“That is why there are so many Loa. We have many needs. From gardening to love.”
“Is there a Loa for homework?” Marcus asks.
I chuckle. The question every young person asks. Myself included once upon a time. “While there are some Loa that can help. They can only help not do the work for you.”
“Are you sure?”
I put a hand on his shoulder. “Yes.”
“Damn it.”
I chuckle a little harder now.
As we walk through the town park, I see a group of children sitting around Vincent.
“What’s going on?” Asks Marcus.
“Well, his name is Vincent. He’s new to town. He seems quite skilled and helped during the attack.”
We walk and stand next to a tree and watch. Vincent seems to be telling a story. The children are enraptured.
“The wind was howling.” Vincent’s says as he spreads his hands.
“Wasn’t the hurricane? Asks a child.
Vincent points to them. “Yes but it was the worst hurricane ever seen. And just like that…BOOM,”
The group gasps.
“Two eyes appeared in the storm. The eyes spoke with a powerful voice that shook the ground. Papa Bones came to me and you know what he said? He said he didn’t know if he could do this. You know what I told him?”
Many of the children shake their heads no.
“I told Papa Bones. I said, Papa Bones. You are the champion of the Loa and maybe the world. You can defeat this evil.”
Children stay quiet. Vincent continues.
“He said to me. I don’t know if I’m strong enough. Will you help me?”
“Is that how it happened?” Marcus asks me.
I lean against the tree. “It most certainly not the way it happened.”
Vincent starts walking around. Looking at each child as he passes them. “Then I said. It would be my honor Papa Bones. Fly, fly to the sky and I will distract it. Papa Bones held my shoulders and said Vincent, you are a good friend to me and the Loa.”
Marcus looks at me and I say. “Those words were never spoken.”
Vincent continues his tall tale. “So there we were. Papa Bones and I. Papa Bones took to the air and started throwing fireballs, which did nothing.”
That part angers me.
“As the one sided fight continued. The Loa touched me…”
Vincent takes a pregnant pause.
“Do you know what they said to me?”
The children shake their head no.
“They said, Vincent. Perhaps we have need for a second champion. Then…then I felt a great power enter me.”
“This is bullshit.” I mumble.
“I was also given the knowledge of what to do. I called up to Papa Bones and I said. Papa! Stand aside! The Loa are with us and they are here to help through me. Can you guess what happened next?”
Many of the children shake their head no.
“With my new found knowledge. I knew what to do. During the fight the Loa had opened a hole in the clouds. I knew where the sunbeam was going to land so I got into position and reflected it back to the monster. The reflected sun greatly hurt the monster.”
Vincent takes a pause.
“It is now when Papa Bones’s little fireballs could hurt the monster. Together we raised the winds and tore the cloud monster apart.”
The children cheer.
“That’s right. When the clouds disappeared and the sun returned. Papa Bones flew down to me and said. Thank you Vincent. I couldn’t save Ayzian without you. I said to him. It was my pleasure Papa Bones. We are both children of the Loa. Your fight is my fight.”
I’ve had about enough of this. I take a step forward. “An interesting story.”
Vincent looks up and sees me. “It is. Children. That will be enough stories for today.”
The children get up. Many pass me and I smile and say hi to them as they pass. When the children are gone, I walk towards Vincent. “Telling lies to children?”
Vincent smiles at me. “Every story need’s embellishment.”
“Embellishment maybe but not lies.” I counter.
“Come now, Papa Bones. Is your ego so fragile, you can not stand thinking you may have needed help?”
“I believe that story reflected your ego. Not mine.”
“There is no harm in what I said.” Vincent states.
“Yes. There was. Most of that was fabrication. I will not allow you to lie to the children.”
“A good story does not rely on only the truth.”
I step towards Vincent. “Let’s see if the Loa agree. I can take us to the crossroads and Legba can give us his opinion.”
Vincent smile fades. “There’s no need for such an extreme response.”
I take one more step towards Vincent. “Oh, it’s no problem. We can go right now.”
“Like I said. It was only a harmless story. I must be going. Good day.”
Vincent walks away and Marcus walks up to me. “You don’t like him. Do you?”
I watch Vincent as he walks. “No. I don’t believe I do.”
Benefits Of Having A Cooling Mattress
Best Cooling mattress in LMG Singapore
Mattresses are frequently taken for granted- Considering that most people spend nearly half of their lifetime in bed. Also, sleep is crucial for general wellness. Everything about your mattress affects you when you consider how frequently you use it, from hardness or softness to temperature.
Even though it may seem unusual, a cooling mattress is frequently preferable if you cover yourself in a blanket to be warmer while you sleep. Here are a few to think about if you're thinking about buying a new bed soon. A cooling mattress has several advantages which is why you should look for relevant queen-size mattresses in Singapore.
Relieving pain
A specific gel is used to make cooling mattresses, which cradle your body and provide you with proper support. This prevents you from sinking all the way into your mattress and allows the support you get when lying on the bed to become balanced.
Your shoulders, back, knees, and hips are fully supported and encased in coolness on this queen-size mattress in Singapore. Your weight is evenly distributed, and none of them is under any pressure. This helps any discomfort you typically experience relief, even if it's simply during sleep.
Individual Comfort
The support and cushioning that cooling mattresses offer are personalized, as discussed. It cradles the body like memory foam and then bounces back when you stand up. Hence, no matter how many unusual sleeping positions you try, your mattress won't leave any permanent traces that would make subsequent nights' sleep lumpy and uncomfortable.
Absence of Night Sweats
A cooling mattress can relieve you of this burden, regardless of whether you genuinely experience night sweats or simply perspire more in the summer. In addition to feeling cold to the touch, a cooling mattress controls your body's temperature.
Moreover, it absorbs moisture, so even if you do wind up perspiring, you won't wake up wet. Also, unlike with conventional mattresses, the extra heat your body is retaining will dissipate rather than being trapped between you and the mattress. In addition, the cooling mattress' ability to eliminate heat promotes deeper sleep. When you're uncomfortable, you wake up, and the heat is uncomfortable.
They Do Not Move Around
Thick padding on cooling mattresses cradles you so you won't move when others on the mattress do, even if your kids are playing nearby and jumping up and down. In spite of the fact that you probably won't (and shouldn't) let your children jump on the bed, this is ideal for couples whose restless spouses keep them up all night by turning and jostling them.
Friendly to the environment
The majority of cooling mattresses are created from eco-friendly organic materials. Who knows what might be in your standard mattress in the meantime? Usually, mattresses are produced in industrial settings with lots of chemicals and ingredients. Moreover, your mattress can be made of synthetic materials made of unknown elements.
As a result, you not only spare the environment from a terrible shock when you finally dispose of your mattress, but you also spare yourself from years of exposure to potentially dangerous materials. Instead, go and try out the queen-size mattress in Singapore with a cooling effect.
